The Hordetest is here and with it the first iteration of mutations. In this video I will yap about mutations for an hour and a half, enjoy. Outro: Casually Busy [Thrive Democracy Theme] by Oliver Lugg oliverlugg.bandcamp.com/album...
Corrections: -Semi aquatics are already immune to the movement penalty when wading, making the use case for the Wading mutation even more niche. -I've played a bit more Herrerasaurus and the decreased jump stam might actually be GOATED on Herrera specifically -Cannibalistic and Reinforced Tendons are earned mutations like Kidney Filtration. This makes Cannibalistic a bit more balanced imo.
Sorry for asking but I've been wondering, the quality of your clips are really good do you perhaps use 1440p monitor or record in high bit rate, ? I'm being a lil paranoid if my new upcoming pc will be able to handle the isle at epic settings at 1080 or 1440p, mainly cause I hear bad stuff about the Isles optimizations, with the backlash in mind I was amazed that you pull ~110 fps average, judging by how the game looks I assume you also run at epic settings? GPU: RTX 4070 CPU: R5 7600X or I7 13700KF RAM: 32gb DDR 5
@@mr_luka4126 I'm not all that knowledgeable on the technical side of things, but my specs are GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 CPU: 13th Gen Intel Core i7-13700F RAM: 48GB It's a pretty beefy rig afaik and I was only able to get it because the thing had a ridiculously good sale on it when I was looking for a new PC (still broke the bank despite being on sale lol) My monitor's resolution is 1920x1080 and I can't recall if I ever messed around with my bit rate for recording. One trick I've been using to make my videos look better on RU-vid is when I export a video with my editing software I tell it to export at a resolution of 2560x1440. This doesn't actually upscale the video. But what it does do is trick RU-vid into using a higher quality encoder that reduces the impact of compression, avoiding a lot of blurriness and pixilation
@@mr_luka4126 I think currently I've got everything set to epic because I was testing performance a while back and just haven't gotten around to lowering things back to high for more consistent fps
mutation are truly one of the best addition in the game so far (ofc there will be meta mutation like the heal when eating or idk speed mutation) but its so cool
I like how some perks are things we used to have in legacy, like the no dying from bleed if resting or the rain affecting thirst. For all of Legacy's problems, there were some features that really wouldn't hurt if we got them back, and these are some of them.
the jumping mutation can be gotten at any stage, you need to jump alot and it will be unlocked simular to the saltwater mutation. spending about 3 bars of stam
I do believe it was Dondy that explained the elder system was intended to get a powerful dino and die of old age and carry on a perk to the next dino. Curious to how Elder and Nesting benefits will work in this game when they systems are in play, which would be nice to encourage nesting populations on servers. However, I do hope they include some kind of save, or"points" when you reach elder status with your dinos, because if here is no saved benefits, people may be forces to only play a certain dino to build mutations over generations, would hate to loose all progress if you switched to another dinosaur. Would be nice if they just incorporated multiple dino saves on servers.
That bone healing from eating bones is 100% only for cerato and Rex. There's no way they'd just give you the ability to eat a specific resource like bones just like that
I think that the cannibalistic mutation could be fine if it was earnable like the salt water one, so if you really want it you would have to go through the trouble of hunting and subsequently vomiting your own kind before you get the rewards.
After posting this video I've heard that it is actually an earnable mutation. That balances it out a bit more imo since you have to first eat your own kind quite a bit for no diets while also taking some massive debuffs in the meantime.
