Their drummer Darren King is an absolute madman and does some next-level stuff on a tiny, stripped down kit. This is definitely one of his more subdued tracks. This band has a phenomenal discography worth delving into more deeply. I'd recommend Cavalries, Chaos, Hit Parade, or Break the Same.
Great seeing MuteMath getting some love, especially something from their later work. Their discography is quite a journey, and they always maintained such a positive energy throughout. Thanks Geebz.
A name I haven't heard in years, notable to me as being the 1st band i bought a CD of, having heard them on MySpace! Chaos, Break The Same, You Are Mine were the songs i really dug back then.
So cool you're doing MuteMath Geebz, they're one of my favorite bands ever and a huge musical inspiration. Seeing them live was unforgettable. They have more than enough bass-'heavy' tracks, like Chaos or Armistice, where it really pops out in the mix. Especially the first two albums. Their bassist Roy Mitchell-Cárdenas is one of the reasons I picked up the bass! Drummer Darren King has some of the tightest chops and I also really dig the 'saxophony' grit of Paul Meany's voice. He does most of the keywork, but also knows his way around the bass, guitar and drums. He's a really talented guy. Hope you do more MuteMath in the future! You made my day, Aloha from the Netherlands!
Thanks for the video! MUTEMATH has been one of my favorites since their debut. They put on some great live shows. Here’s a few more MUTEMATH tracks you might like to check out: Stare at the Sun / Obsolete Reset Burden All or Nothing Quarantine Vitals Remain Achilles Heel
Wow a new band for me AND a Supertramp reference 😂. Love your engineering talk. We have a non profit jazz camp for students, and the engineer clinics have become my favorites to sit in on. The possibilities and the nuances just amazing, a different creativity . Thanks Geebz!
Mutemath is one of the most under appreciated bands of the last 20 years. Individually all were incredible musicians & together they did some amazingly creative things. And like others have stated, the absolute best live band I’ve seen. And I’ve seen many. Check out the live performance of Break The Same for an example. It’s on RU-vid.
aaah man! you know what? I didn't even know that there was 2 albums I was missing! never saw them go by! so thank you for that! and you ABSOLUTELY need to react to these 2 live videos/songs the singer did on the MUTEMATH channel! it may blow your mind! "MUTEMATH - Paul Meany - EN 2018" and "MUTEMATH - Paul Meany - Voice in the Silence". I wont say more! hope to see more songs from them! they're great! I really enjoy "remain" from the "Vital" album! awesome reaction again!
Love this band. It's funny that I see people say they haven't heard these guys in years when honestly I never stopped listening to them. Their first album is great front to back.
These guys are really atmospheric and have a great sound! Thanks for doing a vid on them, will have to check out more from them. The vocals are really a high point for me, just very clean and bubbly singing, and the harmonies are fantastic. Even though he sounded a bit like Tom Yorke at first to me, they sound a little like the band _Cheerleader_ at first glance; and then they hit with that great breakdown halfway through, and the bass kicks in hard and they get much more in your face. Awesome stuff! Thanks for the shout, Geebz, keep on rocking!
Great band! One hell of a song from their first album "Mutemath" is Obsolete, highly recommend! They are highly experimental about recording, using even a bathroom for some nice and unusual ambience!
Such a great band. So big path, a lot of changes but saving the nature, soul of mutemath. Oh god, one of the best example of changing from one album to another. Eternal love
There are some amazing mutemath songs if you're willing to give them more listens I personally prefer Their first two albums Their live DVDs are super fun
Flesh and Bones Electric Fun is probably my favorite live album of all time. Most of these live versions are even better than the studio ones. Top notch production too.
A band that never got the credit or attention they deserve, despite having some indie pop success with their first few albums. "Sooner or Later" is probably my favorite track by them. Great stuff coming out from them from 2006 all the way to the present.
wowza! look how different and young you look! love the change. very cool to see you decompose some mutemath, a band local to me here in new orleans. here we go! edit: yeah, I saw them live at a new orleans music festival many years ago.. definitely the kinda band where you wanna stand in a big group of people, smoke a joint, and really kinda float away. very "floaty" as you said. haha.
I'd love to see you react to any of MUTEMATH's songs from Odd Soul! I loved their self-titled so much back in the day for its unique sound but the seventies vibe from Odd Soul, mixed and mastered in the modern day, is my favourite album from them
OMG! Geebz, this is Such a Shock My Dude! MuteMath is one of my favorite bands 🤘🏼. Talk about Talented Musicians man, highly recommend Achilles Heel, Break The Fever, Chaos 🙂
Yes!!!! Been hoping for a Mutemath reaction. I’ve commented before trying to get one of their tracks listened to. Let’s try again! I’d love for you to check out EN 2018 by the singer, Paul Meany. It’s a live studio one take which I think you’d totally dig. AwwwwRight!
Loving the new wave of bands that you're checking out, Geebz! Have been going back to some old videos of yours and realised there's not enough Avenged Sevenfold reactions! I'd recommend either "So Far Away" so we can try together or the first song that got me into them - "Seize the Day". Keep up the good work, G! We love you, brother!
Thank you a million for reacting to MUTEMATH. One of the best live bands I’ve seen. This song, while good, wasn’t one of their best. I agree with the comments about their first album. I’d suggest Chaos, Plan B, Break the Same and the instrumental Reset to get an idea of what Darren King is capable of. I mean, the dude had to duct tape his headphones to his skull to keep them on. They definitely had some heavier songs.
Thanks for highlighting these guys! Awesome reaction. I know I’m totally that guy, but throwing out Corrosion of Conformity again. Haven’t seen them on your channel and I think you’d love them - they’re a southern rock Metallica. You basically can’t go wrong with the entire catalog but I’d recommend “Seven Days,” “Senor Limpio” or “Never Turns to More.” Absolute and complete fire. 🔥🔥🔥
the geebz family had twins? I recall a guy very similar to this geebz but looks a bit older ... young old NO beard brother geebzy welcome to decompose your opinion super welcome as your brother insight is. awwgrit! tell your bro am still here.
Wow. Was not expecting that. Very different. Not my cup of tea but very cool. Check out Sojourner - Perennial. You wont be disappointed. Very atmospheric.
Interesting start with them. This is probably the least liked album from them among the fans. It’s still good, and this song is a highlight, but you ought to hear Chaos or Break the Same off their self titled album. Or even Control off their first ep! There are a ton of fantastic songs from this band.
Has any of your patreons/viewers proposed looking into Wagakki Band? A fusion of japanese folk (with traditional instruments & shigin singing) and rock/metal/pop/prog etc. Should you entertain the idea, here is a recommendation: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aWlMc-pbDc8.html Starting with instrumental Kyoukasuigetsu followed by the song Tsukini sakebuyoru (with cc/lyrics). That song has, well, all kinds of (metally) feel - and some live-action.
I have a hard time believing that. I’ve seen 100’s of bands live & Mutemath is easily in the top 5 live shows I’ve seen. Either you are confusing them with someone else or you caught them on a really really bad night.
Must have been those few shows when Paul lost his voice. The original band was one of the most entertaining and dynamic four man band shows of our time.
@@snacpop I'm a long time Mutemath fan who started off a classic rock and metal youth, so I get what you're saying but I'm surprised to hear you say it about Mutemath. 🤷♀️ Besides crowd vocalization, MM is known for crowd surfing, letting the crowd play their instruments, etc
