Perfect! You’ve nailed it. That explains why so many f3’s with hydraulic tensioners snap exhaust valves just after being serviced. Jumping a tooth unnoticed while the tech is checking valves. Hydraulic tensioners only tension when running and there’s oil pressure. Well spotted👍

Hello! I am researching to replace my hydraulic cam chain tensioner on 2015 Turismo Veloce with a mechanical one for future reliability. Am I going to need to swap out the affected tensioner part only? Do I need to replace other parts too?

It would probably be a good idea to replace it with the updated manual tensioner. It is a good idea to do the valve service at the same time. Also there are two styles of tensioner A threaded version and one that has two bolts that hold the tensioner in. Find out the style your bike has.
