Here's a list of IU's songs that achieved the rare "Perfect-All-Kill" on the Korean music charts (~simultaneous multichart #1 rank) which showcases her stylistic range: if you ever want to start digging into her discography, I might add that her B-sides are equally worthy as well. 1. Nagging (2010) 2. Good Day (2010) 3. The Story Only I didn't Know (2011) 4. You and I (2011) 5. The Red Shoes (2013) 6. Friday (2013) 7. My Old Story (2014) 8. Leon (2015) 9. Twenty-Three (2015) 10. Through the Night (2017) 11. Can't Love You Anymore (2017) 12. Palette (2017) 13. Autumn Morning (2017) 14. BBIBBI (2018) 15. Love Poem (2019) 16. Blueming (2019) 17. Give you My Heart (2020) 18. Eight (2020) 19. Celebrity (2021) 20. LILAC (2021) Her recent feature on Dingo's Killing Voice is a pretty good 18 minute sampler of some of her hits.
IU is an artist and has become an icon in Kpop with a career that spans for more than 12 years. She is a singer, song writer, composer, as well as a producer. You already talked about her as an actress. "Lilac" is meant to be the farewell to IU's time in her twenties (she is 29 in the Korean system) and also as getting ready for her thirties.
I'm pretty sure that the train conductor is the same guy that play a lot of instrumens in her "Good Day"MV Good Day is the song that put her in the map and when she started taking control of her music, and the high note in that song, OMG 😱 you feel like your head want to explode (in a good way)
Oooh i highly recommend reacting to her new music video "Coin" that came out just after "Lilac". The choreo is so good and SHE WEARS A SUIT. She also has a song with Suga called "Eight" about two of her close friends who were kpop idols who sadly commited suicide. Personally my favourite song of hers is "Bbibbi" but you must listen with the captions on. It was basically sort of a diss track?
IU is the nation’s little sister and her music is so good! If u liked this song maybe u might like Coin, BBIBBI, Blueming, Celebrity, palette (with G-Dragon), and eight (with suga from BTS)
The train represents her 20s, the different emotions and phases she has passed through.....the last train in the end is her next phase in life the 30s....its unknown and scary ahead but she's still excited for the new journey she's going to have
She is such an incredible talent. I always have a hard time between her and Solar for most "effortless" voice in the industry because they have such a range and always crush the opportunities they've earned.
Hey thankyou for looking into IU. I would certainly recommend checking out the Album but in terms of MV’s I would check out Blueming for something more upbeat or Palette for something more chilled out Ending Scene and/or Through the Night if you want to explore her Ballads. She also does a ton of storytelling within her MV’s so its worth bearing that in mind
You girls need to see Coin, that's the other title track for this album! Her duality is IN-FUCKING-SANE! Also please watch Celebrity because everybody loves celebrity :)
I love when she say Kai-my in such in a cool relaxing tone love it when she said that it sound so Chinese it mean open sale in Chinese but in Korean it mean something else ❤
IU's my fav soloist!! she has been in the industry for more than 12 years and made about 100 songs with more than 50 songs written by the princess herself
IU with an angelic voice. She does diff genre everytime and she has PAK every since 2010 except for 2016 bec. she did not release anything. She is also an amazing actress, lyricist, producer, composer, donation angel, etc.
I so love IU! For me, she's the best K-pop singer, composer, songwriter, and actress! I came to know and like IU because of Jungkook's admiration for her. She's so loved by other artists/idols of all generations! Multi-talented Queen IU!
You must react to her live performance too like dingo killing voice 😊 the actor that you are looking for is on her coin MV 😊 more reactions to IU please.. She is the queen
The actor cameo is actually in the "Coin" MV - his name is Kim Yoon Seok and he's been in some of South Korea's most iconic films (including one of my all-time favourite movies, The Yellow Sea). Since Coin has a gambling theme, he appears as a homage to probably his most iconic role from the high-stakes gambling film Tazza. He's never appeared in an MV before - it's just another example of "whatever IU wants, IU gets".
The song is about saying good bye to her 20s since she's about 29 in Korean age and her 5th album Lilac (Lilac is also the name of the title track) will be the last album in her 20s. The where are you going sign has all the title track songs she made in her 20s. Including Lilac which you can see at the very bottom of the station board and on her train ticket. Also Lilac is her fav flower. It's associated with spring and it blooms in May (i think). It is also her birth montg and the color is more like her outfit when she had the blue contacts on. MV meaning: First part of the train ride is her debuting and being new to the industry, hence why she is kind of startled by the flash mob dancing but eventually joining in. 2nd part can be seen as her rise to fame and enjoying it. 3rd part can be seen as her overcoming obstacles in the industry (as a solo artist), especially since she debuted during a time (2008) where groups were dominating the scene. (Fun fact: the train conductor is also in her other MV good day which really jumpstarted her career). The animated part is her putting her 20s into a time capsule including her glasses kinda symbolizing that she'll be having a new outlook in her 30s. The last part is her getting off the train celebrating her 20s and even though somewhat anxious, anticipating the train of her 30s.
thank you ;) actually the MV and lyrics have a LOT, like A LOT of meaning (I can make short essay, 3-4 pages of it) XD bcs its referencing and describing her career from 2012-2021 now ... A legendary career it is.
In Lilac's MV, the list on the board, written by all name of her albums including single title (since its single songs, share same name between song and album) when released her 20's because her Korean age is 29. That's why list start from 'the spring of twenty', not from the beginning of her career. Probably she decided to 'travel' her 20's life (or career), or actually went to, then share with us as same IU meaning 'I & U'. Symbolic meaning of Lilac is 'throughout the ages', when you see the ticket there is 'HI'LIC and 'BY'LIC I assume those are Hi and Bye. The fight scene showing that all her struggle with her career and competitors, so that the guys are symbolized other musicians in K-pop industry and the dumpling is symbolized success (she eat it lol ), the scene references Korea movie named by 'Old Boy'. The train she just took off is her 20's, and coming one is her 30's and seems like she is ready to faces her 30's.
Loved your reaction. I loved her vocal tone since her Wind Flower days and she never fails to try a new sound/genre and do it well. The gentleman with the dumplings/saxophone/train conductor is a well-regarded musician Jung Jae-hyung, who also featured in IU's Good Day MV back from 2010. (the man playing the instruments). Her dance also references some moves from her Good Day choreography (and so do the lyrics!). I believe netizens are referring to is Kim Yoon-seok, who played an iconic villain in Tazza, a well-received old movie many Koreans associate with high stakes gambling. The LILAC MV welcomes her 30s, and bids farewell to her 20s, while reviewing her journey through the cut-throat music industry (train entry scene: cautiously finding her place in the industry, imitating her industry seniors with the hand-dance, the fighting scene alluding to fighting off the competition and haters to earn her keep, lots of references to her old work i.e. "good day" dance/lyrics, etc). The destination board lists her full albums, mini albums, and singles released in her 20s. When you read the lyrics from track 1 to 10 from her LILAC album, it's like her sharing moments (all the ups and downs) in her career in her 20s in chronological order. She's well-known for keeping a diary that is a source of her songwriting inspiration. She did a similar good-bye-themed album to her teenage debut years (Last Fantasy) back in 2011 though she had way less creative freedom back in the day.
Yay!!! She actually released a behind the scenes for this Lilac music video on IUTV that's more than 10 minutes long! You should watch to get a feel of her personality :) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5eW6NarieZk.html
Koreans don't know all idols, singers, actors, entertainers, etc., but there is no Korean who doesn't know IU. There are people who don't know the president's name, but there are Koreans who don't know IU.
Please check out Wendy's solo debut Like Water. She is the main vocal of Red Velvet. This is her first official schedule since her accident in december of 2019.
Ladies, you cannot categorize IUs music... she does everything and doesn’t follow the crowd... for something in drama and Broadway musical category, I’d remember “You and I”, reading the meaning of... and following with “Above the Time”, a sequel made eight years later
I hope you see this tho :D My recommendations are: Blueming MV, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-D1PvIWdJ8xo.html then Blueming live ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-o_nxIQTM_B0.html after that maybe Age series song, 23 --> Palette --> Eight
