Thanks and I was talking from a spectators point of view. I know its to win but when everyone sticks to a certain group of characters because top player uses them the other characters are left with undiscovered potential. Last years Final Round event with MVC3, when that japanese player used Rocket Racoon, Frank West, and Viewtiful Joe, he won the tournament because no one was prepared for those characters because they are so overlooked because of the main top characters that everyone picks.
Idk how to explain this but Magneto being the only one with 4 way mix up and confident infinities. And storm with her super. And sentinel with his flight. Those are the strongest tools in the game that Make their grouped potential the best. No other characters have tech like that. Being this game is THE most practiced game in existence. That would have found it by now
@stupidoofus72 yeah but he plays keep away and in a game like this where you can barely blink, trying to keep your opponent away is pretty damn fucking hard
I don't want perfect balance, I want to be able to play who I want. In mvc1 I could play roll if i work for it, roll in mvc2 doesn't have a snowballs chance in hell. I can't stand staring at a screen of really awesome characters, and knowing only a small chunk have a chance.
@redtitan little late but the glitch they're talking about is a glitch that when storm is coming in she comes in invisible so you have to take a guess on where she's at to try and get the hit. you can see it better in the first match, once yipes makes the comeback and kills psylocke, schmidts storm comes in invisible. schmidt does a typhoon while invisible and yipes calls psylocke to get the hit while blocking typhoon.
@tokagerokuji Thanks, I've heard it used when people do COMBOS aswell as when people are trying to "DHC him/her out" type stuff so I didn't exactly understand what it stood for...basically just 2 (lets call them supers because I play SSF4) and the last char remains while the first one goes into the stable. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
yeah watching justin wong and sanford play is SO entertaining. plus seeing mags storm sentinel cable commando never gets old so much better than seeing diversity
Chris Schmidt was on the mic a few days ago talking about MvC2 and he said the reason he's moved on is he feels MvC2 has been maxed out, there's nowhere to progress too, so for that reason there's no motivation to continue playing it.
Well here's the thing with Ultras, It's not as if they give you this GIGANTIC boost in power. They only provide a chance to get back in the game. It doesn't give you the power to devastate the opponent or take the whole match. You know what, even if MvC2, 3rd Strike, CvS2, Guilty Gear X had high barriers, at least the quality of players showed because of it. It rewarded players with sick abilities instead of A>B>C>launch>A>B>C>OTG HYPER and are rewarded with a kill. Well, what the fuck is that.
this game will never die, i mean cmon, we know this game id much more godlike than mvc3. besides you see mufucka still play gamecube smash in big tourneys.. just need a rerelease on ps4 and steam please with crossplatforming. right? damn, Marvel/Disney/Activision rights...
Morrigan wasn't even viable until Chris G started using his Soul Fist strategy and everyone bandwagon hop to adding her to their team. Thats why I root for players who take the time to try something different than the same poster teams/characters.
UMvC3 is more "balanced" but only at this point, remember back when MvC2 didn't even have a year under its belt yet, and there was stated "More" viable characters, and look how that turned out. The game hasn't even been broken down yet, you'll definitely see a more definitive line when time goes by for this game or if it truly stands in terms of balance. Regardless it still doesn't even breathe on MvC2 in overall greatness.
@TheDonaldduck911 no, i meant cable. You said that the only real easy god-tier character is Cable. I was saying that he is easy to use but Cable plays keep away and IMO keep away is the hardest gameplay in a fighting game, especially in this one.
They tried to set up a side tournament a few months back for MvC2 and people didn't show or didn't want to play...one or the other. And yes the big names were available...they don't want to play it, the money isn't there anymore.
