Day 4 is a shorter video with a start on a brisk Colorado morning in the woods outside of pike’s national forest while recovering from days of rain. A freezing cold wash in a creek and then off to dry out in Colorado Springs while I get new meat on the wheels (which didn’t end the way I expected) A few, not so good, encounters in the flat lands of Kansas left me seeking solitude for meditation with the sounds of the crickets next to a reservoir in the middle of Kansas.

Nate. What parts are necessary to replace the metal front brake reservoir with a plastic unit? Great videos, brother!

Just the replacement of the entire master cylinder with two bolts. Depending on which master cylinder you chose you might need to have a new steel braided brake line manufactured to fit the new angle. I had an extra Brembo RCS19 master cylinder lying around that I took off an old SuperMoto I sold and had a new brake line made for it that goes from the master cylinder to the abs unit. Hope this answers your question and feel free to reach out for any additional information needed. Appreciate the watch and comment💪🏼😜👍🏼 Cheers, ~Nate

How well suited is the 310 for this type of trip?

I’ve rode this machine, mostly off road, 30,000 miles in the last three years and found it has extremely comfortable ergonomics even with my broken body. That’s what I was selling in an adventure bike, comfort for distance. I do wish for a little more top speed but I appreciate the fact it keeps me off the interstate and on roads that I can have experiences on. I was in the motorcycle industry for 19 years and got to test all the brands lines, sold 15 different lines in my career, all shapes and sizes, taken big bikes up to Prudhoe Bay AK and in the end…wish I was riding this machine all along. It’s simple to work on, parts and accessories are more affordable, it is lighter and saves tons on fuel costs. I’ve owned over 30 different motorcycles and can say that this is the most versatile tool I’ve owned. Has provided the most opportunity in any situation I could encounter and feel more to my roots dropping all the electronics of modern bikes. Only addition from BMW is heated grips and navigation system. Thanks for watching and let me know if your have any other specific questions. Cheers, ~Nate

@@NateJennings Thank you very much for the detailed reply. I've been considering getting one to replace an aging Yamaha XT225. Getting a 310 would necessitate selling my 08 R1200R. I'm not sure I'm ready to do that though.

Yeah the R1200R was one of my favorite BMW models right behind the R1200RT. Take one for a test ride and see what you think first. Enjoy!! Cheers, ~Nate
