Trying to decide which windows are best for your project? Devon and Ed discuss the #1 selling windows in America for more than a decade; the Andersen 400 series windows. Learn why they have stood the test of time!
I would've liked specific info on the options for jams, framing, glass, coating, U and E ratings, vinyl vs wood, etc. This info seems to be a well-kept secret. Vague statements about being durable just aren't that helpful for decisions.
It’s still vinyl (which eventually cracks) on the outside exposed to the elements, this window is also glazed between the frame and glass which is also exposed to the elements. Renewal’s double hung in 2019 outsold the 400 series for the first time in the 400’s history in US. Renewals window is also glazed between the glass and the spacer away from any elements, has the easy open one hand tilt-in (400 does not), has a 20 yr frame warranty ( vs 10 yr for 400 series) since it’s wood composite (40/60 blend) vs the vinyl/wood frames. Andersen also does not reimburse any labor warranty from day 1, Renewal gives the full 20 yrs for material and labor. Yes it’s more $$$ but for obvious reasons. Don’t get me wrong, the 400 series is light yrs ahead of any vinyl window but there are other better Andersen alternatives.
@@marklabarbara2871 not necessarily, that window is made in TX, the tops don’t open, only single hung, the sides are vinyl that the sash slides up and down in, the locks are plastic, the corners are 45 mitered, the glazing is the same but you can’t order any custom sizing on 100 or even 200 series products. I’d personally rather deal with the vinyl exposure to the outside elements than to get cheapness that the 100 series brings
We apologize for the delayed response. The AW-400 Series is Vinyl-Clad Wood with solid Wood Core, much more durable and has the warmth of wood inside. It has 6 Exterior colors to choose from and Interior White Paint, Bare Pine Interior or Interior Vinyl Wrapped-White. We hope this helps! Thanks
Our windows were installed in 2005 when we built new home now the windows are rotting this according to anderson they are willing to replace them but at a high price the frame work is only guaranteed for 10 years I thought when we bought anderson we were set for life they are coming apart these are the 400 Series windows yes the claim they are working with us but at a price of 6600 dollars from us stay tuned
