A friend of mine worked at a Chevrolet dealership that took on a Renault franchise. What a nightmare. As bad as many of the Chevrolet products were in the early 80’s, the Renault’s were way worse. My favorite story that he told was about a woman who bought a Fuego and couldn’t get any satisfaction out of her complaints. She eventually pasted lemon stickers all over it and kept driving it around on the dealership’s lot.
Renault could never really succeed here. Not sure if there are many used ones even left in the US.The IROC was something many loved. I sold them back in the 80’s in Staten Island NY ( hence the name Italian Retart Out Cruising) and for the time they were hot cars. Sure they had their issues but they were still fun. When the 5.7 TPI was finally offered it was a four passenger Vette. Crazy thing was not to long ago you could’ve found decent used ones pretty cheap. Now used IROC’s are starting to pull some strong numbers. Thanks for the throwback memory!!
Nailed it. The Guidos had the Irocs first ,with their half buttoned shirts and dripping of Drakkar. After they got tired of em ,they let the mullets have em and things have never been the same 😂😂
I bought a used 84 Turbo Fuego in 87. It was a fun little car but it did have a few quirks. The one I couldn't live with was the 15 1/2 inch rims. There was only one tire available and it was Michelin.
Yup the first shop I worked in ,dude came in for tires for one. I think it took a few days to get them,I wanna say the boss said they were like 200ish a piece and that was like 1990-91 or so. Fuzzy memory, maybe it was 175ish or maybe someone has a better memory. Either way it was like 1 of those tires got you 3.5 tires for a "normal" car.
Isn't it funny how a car that did 0-60 in 9.5 seconds was once considered a performance car, and now it's considered to be too slow to safely drive on the highway?
I bought brand new a Mustang LX with the GT options and none of those guys wanted to run me stock on the street, it just wasn't fair, they didn't stand a chance
Too bad Chevy never made a budget performance car, I hate the tacked on looks of the Iroc and the Z28. And why did they need two performance models? Both were available with the tpi engines but after 84 only the Iroc could get the L69/5 spd.
True about that.I had a Nissan Tiida quite a long time ago and expected better from the same people who gave us the reborn z car but it was disappointing.
I love Chevrolet Camaro Iroc Z 1985-1988 my favorite and dream car. I want and buy from 2024 and Berlinetta 85 and 86 too. Renault Fuego a trash and hate this car
