MW3 SBMM Rant - A Company Ran By Idiots? 

Former pro here... RIGGED GUNFIGHTS make recent cods a unplayable ILLUSION OF COMPETITION!! Lag compensation is used to rig gunfights while it adds the infinite difficulty parameters to each player according to skill. Aim resist, dmg nerf, hit registry, speed/animations, audio tracking... ALL OF ITS RIGGED while pulling the better player out of server time with those added difficulty parameters... High influencers are WHITELISTED from the rigged engagements. Meanwhile, us pros are buying MICROTRANSACTIONS to have the rigged engagements less intense before high paying tourneys!! Not about money, that only leads to puppets in power positions, not the PUPPET MASTERS who control every mega corporations under the sun. Darker and more sinister then most are ready to comprehend sadly...

Sweaty matchmaking should be limited to ranked, thats why it exists. The fact that they try to incorporate it into MP casuals is a joke

I once heard a COD dev say that SBMM was the future of gaming. I was already losing respect for COD over its horrible lag infested servers. Yes, the lag compensation they incorporate into COD is literally punishing me for having a better internet connection than little Johnny's connection. They pander to the young kids with crappy connections because they represent a group they hope to keep around for years to come. SBMM is the way they're doing it. I've been playing COD since COD3. And it's only gotten worse over time. Thanks for your spot on commentary. The truth needs to be known. (EDIT): I noticed the scoreboard at 8:59 showing the players with the highest latency also seemed to have the higher number of kills. Coincidence? I think not.

If everyone stopped buying COD every year… Activision would get it and possibly change their scummy practices… but as long as people keep shoveling money at them, they will never stop… ever, just STOP BUYING COD… literally that simple.

Has anyone else noticed after doing well your controller seems to have a “mind if it’s own”? It aims you in directions you aren’t trying, almost feels like your ice skating and can’t keep steady? I think they are nerfing you mid Match when you begin to do well

It makes me feel better hearing/seeing others this frustrated with SBMM. I miss the BO2 days when you were in a random lobby and sometimes had good players, sometimes bad. It was SO much more fun than these non-stop sweaty lobbies. I hate Activision for not listening to us.

Wait a fucking minute here. Are you serious about that lag compensation thing?! No wonder I was dying so much in MW2 I thought these dudes were all cheating and using wall hacks, but no the game neuters me because I have gigabit internet and these clowns have dial up from 97?! The fuck! That's one of the cheapest things I've ever heard of in my life.

The “lag compensation” happens in any game where if you shot someone on your end while having bad internet the game will allow the bullet to kill since they shot them on their screen. On the victim’s screen they were not at that position anymore but since the server picked up “i hit x player” it allows the hit to register anyways. Many many games do this so people don’t complain about hit registration. Source: im a software engineer for an anticheat. And i made mods to exploit this function in less competitive games like minecraft.

I low-key have to mentally prepare myself for an Olympic sized event when I fire up this game.

SBMM is only something the higher ups wants in the game. They want the player statistics to be the same for all players, it benefits them greatly if everyone has the ideal 1.0 K/D and 50% Win rate. You are more likely to both keep playing the game, and spend money in the store if you are performing "good". This of course is not a good decition gameplay wise, especially with how agressive the SBMM is in recent call of duties. You can go from having a game where you go 20 - 5, and the very next game you go 2 - 23 because the SBMM overcompensates. Ex-Devs for activision titles has made it clear that the decition to keep SBMM both in the games and have it as agressive as it is are completely up to the higher ups at the company.

I miss the old cod games. Sbmm is the reason why I quit playing Cod games .

I feel your pain brother everything about this game is rigged. I don't even watch the kill cams anymore they are just going to be disappointing.

I remember getting destroyed in the OG MW2, it was my first online game. But that never stopped me from playing, it did the opposite and made me want to get better. Losing now is soul draining and rage inducing because the crap they added.

Us old COD players gave up on COD years ago. SBMM ruined what was once a fun game. I loved some ladder play but it's gone now. Where is the prestige mode?? lobbies break as well. No more rivalries, no more trash talk, nothing. COD is nothing more than a name anymore.

The worst one is that stupid AI voice ban moderator, i just bought MW3 and got banned from voice chat without knowing what i said, they banned me in a hardcore military M rated F bombing game that i payed $70-$80 plus internet plus PSN and they got the nerve to still restrict me like this, what a fck'n joke!

Battlefield 1 used to have this "mechanic" , i don't how to put it, but if you kill someone first and the server KNOWS that, his bullets gets deleted from the server and they never reach you. But after that they've added it permanently. So ppl with high ping stand a chance. But this resulted in some weired deaths behind walls and trades...So i feel your pain man .

So many people complaining about the game, I've been playing the game just fine and no leg. It's just PC gamer that leg, I'm on a console, no leg. And it's OK to be bad at call of duty.

I started playing old games. Oblivion, age of empires 2, etc. I've gone full circle now back to single player games.

Man, I feel your pain. My K/DR is about .92, and when I played on rust to raise it to 1.00, as soon as I got to .98, I was being put in matches with people far, far more skilled than I am at the game. SBMM is something no one asked for but everyone got. I don't think that the CoD devs are in touch with their fanbase at all when it comes to this matter. the lack of awareness on their end is pathetic, and people have been asking for SBMM to be nerfed or completely removed from the game for the past couple of years but Activision absolutely refuses to remove it. I think another thing I really dislike about MWIII is the ridiculously high health, but from what it seems, other RU-vidrs wanted that, which makes zero sense. So for me the only viable way of enjoying this game is hardcore mode.

The movement feels good until you get stuck in a window, which idk about you but happens to me way to much, and I mean if your running and gunning and jump through a window and get a lil stuck up that’s one thing but I will literally stand still vault out a window and get stuck in it, like when a dog tries walking through a doorway with a stick to big

Your literally right on. aim assist very strong laggy servers hit reg feels off mouse and keyboard feels little delayed just feels like it’s made for controller player and consoles and skill base match making is horrible there should be a button for skill match making or something because sometimes I like tryhard lobby’s and sometimes I want chill lobby but yes we all feel your pain

It should be Ping Based, non KD gameplay. Like it used to be, cause that JUST FKN WORKED.

I feel you on this one. The moment you hop on this game, it's either you start off really good or really bad. Regardless of how you perform, the algorithm will always turn its head around and find ways to screw you over. I couldn't count on one hand how many times I've lost gunfights that I should've won. There's no sense of real reward for even sweating hard in a match. There's no such thing as getting better anymore.

This has been the first CoD I haven't bought in a long long time out of principle. All the boys keep trying to get me to buy it and I won't fold. This is how MW2 (besides the sbmm issues) should of played and I find it disrespectful to the players that they make you pay $70+ to give the people what they were asking for in MW2. I don't reward companies who disrespect their customers... that's how you end up with shitty products like what we have today. STOP BUYING THE GAMES IF THEY'RE BAD. STOP BUYING SKINS AND BATTLE PASSES IF THE COMPANY IS NOT RESPECTING YOU. I said fk it I'll just play free to play and use my mw2 guns in WZ until they show us they deserve the money.

It's crazy cause I saw mw3 for 50 or 60 bucks on black Friday which is something I've ever seen a cod do 2 weeks after launch

I 100% agree man. Once i hit a 1.00 k/d, i started playing against Optic in EVERY match. I got a .094 k/d now. SBMM needs to go!!

Its not just a bad internet connection, lag comp happens real time between pc and console players. I recently bought a Duma router and I must say its nice to be matched with ping as the priority again.

I got a question: when did this lag compensation felt like it was in the game? -> MW2 the first half year, I dont think so, but the last few months before MW3's release? Or was it sooner? SBMM is one issue, but this?

Dude I feel your pain. I’ve got a .9 KD and I constantly get melted and finish last in the lobby. I too am putting multiple rounds into the “upper thoracic cavity” and lose every time. MKG sweats every game and I can only play an hour or two a day. Made a new account to see the difference and what a fricken difference in gameplay.

Ima say this like i told one the big content creators i used my old account that i havent played cod on since bo3 and there so much of a better difference easyer lobbies my ping actually sits around 19 to 25 for game after game and that account i just play like im a noob. No packet Burst no lag gunfights feel perfect. Switch to my main account that i have to sweat on second match in packet Burst ping jumping from 40 to 100 sometimes even the high 200s when i really start pooping on people mid match ping just explodes im laggy. Ya we all know but wont ever be fix unless the whole or 75% of the community actually stops playing cod dont buy the bundles all that for a few months if not year. This game isnt ment for the hardcore fans anymore they found a way to line there pockets with our cash and dont care about us at all.

something about thanksgiving dinner made me want to buy mw3 and try it out. i played a little over an hour i was done with it.. 80 percent of the weapons i already maxed out on mw2.. my first game playing dom favela, i spawn at the bottom.. solo cap our flag.. walk out and get gunned down.. then i spawn BEHIND their flag as the enemy team was dogging it out at b. i capped their flag so we had both end flags with b yet to be establshed. bro i have never seen that in my life.. on domination of all game types!! I played a few more matches but was thoroughly unimpressed. i just refunded the game and might pick it up if its at a 30$ price tag in the future. this game should be illegal to sell at 70$ what a stupid decision. i get the cod bug from october till end of december then i dont touch it all year. i am not paying 70 dollars for a dlc that should have been included in the previous game.. thats the reason i bought mw2 in the first place!! they lied to us.

Yeah that lag compensation is absolute bs. I get real tired of being shot by people who are standing in front of me but I can't see them until the replay or in the case of playing hardcore, it shows them for a split second standing in full view in front of you after you die.

That thing you said about lag compensation blew my mind. I didn’t know that was a thing. Wow. I thought it was just high fps that allows them to see you first before you can see the enemy

I use throwing stars as lethal which is 1 hit kill when I start playing and after 1-2 good runs it becomes a 2 hit kill, so basically they nerf it on the fly. Engagement optimized matchmaking is how they call this. Possible to combat against this by not shooting enemy players and letting them kill you. In the next match, you will be in an easier lobby.

OG Gamer here ... (50 years old!) And here it doesn´t stop!! Once you have a few "good" rounds, the game simply decides that your bullets no longer do as much damage as before. that's ridiculous! And that is true! I can proofe it! 🤮🤮🤮

Same thing happens to me I hope Microsoft does something about it. I have packet burst as well bc of the sbmm and now they have engagement based match making to go with the sbmm cranked all the way it can go. I want to play the game but the sbmm and ebmm makes it where I don't play as long sweat fest makes me want to get vpn to help turn off sbmm it should be ping based like you said like back in the day. Sometimes you will sweat then have great games and so on but it's random not I'm playing for a million dollar tournament and have nothing but sweat in my hands at the end 😂 I feel your pain

There's a lot more than just the things you mentioned going on behind the curtain I'm sure. It all comes down to money per minute. How much they're making every minute, literally. The game can still be enjoyable, but sometimes the experience is just trash. I think that's why we'll still see high numbers playing DMZ and Warzone.

I can definitely agree with you about the guns and the gunplay, it feels so good but the old guns are more fun to use and the gunplay makes no sense. You get the first shot off and the other guy wins shooting at your knee caps with an MCW or knifes you after being shot 10 times in the chest. Happens to me all the time. Didn’t happen to me in MW2 though always had fair gunfights.

Overall I agree with you and the points made. As a player who is always pretty good, I also understand why, someone who kinda sucks or doesn’t have the time to get good would be frustrated. On the other hand I do understand why sbmm exists especially in cod. Even In sbmm lobbies im usually top of the leaderboard in most cases. I can’t imagine how the poor souls and timmies would feel after I ripped around a corner at Mach 10 and beamed them in the face. It would be unfair and so I don’t mind playing against better players. The network shenanigans are also annoying but I have to be honest I don’t care enough to complain. For me cod has turned into the gaming version of a stressball. I kinda just jump in, frag out, get some decent clips and then leave. I couldn’t give a shit if I win an objective or the game I just kinda shoot people really well and then hop off. The reality is cod won’t be changing, even at the lowest points the franchise still prints money. The formula works year after year. So either you don’t buy the game, or you do and just change your mindset so you aren’t irked as much. I’ve found that not caring about anything in the game other then shooting people in the face and getting Some cool gun skins unlocked works really well for me. I also play with friends and mess around in private lobbies which is so much fun. Zombies with the boys is also a blast so I’ve honestly felt like I got a decent amount out of the game. That being said, yes I understand the frustration. Who would be retarded enough to make these systems? Probably the people making millions every year no matter what happens, that’s who.

Also Modern SBMM Is actually a joke because of how strict developers make it. It needs more variability to go up against any kind of player and thats what makes it fun. When they squeeze for perfect matches nobody gets to have fun in a multiplayer game where everyone is on par with each other.

Adapt or die meaning get a scuff controller, learn how to slide cancel, jump shot, have a knife as a secondary for panic kills, throwing knives to beat the annoying lag compensation or never beat the SBMM beneficiary rats at their own game. Learn to live with 30 kills and 28 deaths because once you max level you will never see another bot lobby again till a new game comes out. Oh and those stats follow you to warzone too. Good luck!

As someone who has played COD for years and used to be a sweaty try hard, I am now a casual player who is average at the game now. I have never had to sweat so much in my life in a COD before. I play a lot of FPS games and I usually play ranked, but COD pubs feel like ranked. It's like rank players who don't play objective, but instead sweat their balls off for kills. The game is just demoralizing. I know the outcome of my game before it even begins and SBMM has completely destroyed the social aspect of the game on top of that. I just don't get how SBMM helps anyone. If you suck then you still are going to have to play people on your skill level so either way even if you got a .3 kd you're still gonna have to sweat.

I didn't buy it this year until they take SBMM out of call of duty. I will never purchase another game and I stand on my Word!!

Dude, you echoed my exact experience 1000%, you might of well as been inside my head. You had me crying laughing at the end. The game makes you want to bite a bullet, I swear. It also uses spawns to manipulate the outcome. Spawn people in opportune spots, or right behind you. And bunny hopping & drop shotting is pay-to-win, not a skiĺl gap, on controller, just saying. Can't aim AND jump at the same time, with ONE thumb, sorry. You need a 250$ controller to exploit the game, losers, truly.

Im with you, brother. I am 40 years old and have played COD from the original. I can hold my own yet this release is on another level with SBMM. Im struggling to maintain a 1.42 KD. Not to mention I stated leveling up the Markmen rifles first which was painful. Since moving to the ARs it has been a little better. It is still a sweat fest all the time though. It won't change though. Enough people play it for Activision to still make money. They obviously do it for a reason. Dollars talk. If it didnt result in more money for them, they wouldn't have it.

bro the sequence at 2:29 lmao, I felt that so hard. This game lags me out like that too after i get a killstreak of 3-7 kills, then i die and the lag goes away until i get another 3-7 killstreak and it comes back.

Sbmm has also some good things. Think of the old CoD days, when 7 of 10 rounds ended spawn trapped. It is possible to shine, but yes it is sweaty. The problem these days I see is, that many players don’t play the objective anymore.

maybe im the only one but movement and gameplay i see alot of improvements with mw3. But i agree that the all Systems around the game, gun Unlocks, SBBM is really bad

Cod mobile is the best original game play. This version feels like you no control of your outcome in gameplay. Feels like a 50/50 coin toss each game you play. I'm going to get a refund from steam.

Every game now its people camping with snipers, its a rarity to get people who actually play the game. I stopped instantly when i got a hit marker headshot with a shotgun with slug rounds

I agree with the complaints, but I would argue that the game developers aren’t to blame for a lot of the decisions- Activision has turned it into a service, so getting players to buy the game each year and spend money on cosmetics is more important than player experience. It’s not incompetency, it’s greed.

The only reason I bought mw 2 was for the 2 year lifecycle that they've lied about, the moment they've advertised mw3 I have stopped playing it and will never touch a cod game until they come back to their senses - no disrespect my man but you can rant as much as you want - they've already got your money

They have got to add a playlist that is solely connection based and let the people choose what they want, if ol bud wants to play skill based matchmaking, ol bud can have it, but it shouldn’t be forced like the way it is. It should honestly be only for ranked playlists, as that’s the whole purpose of ranked. I don’t want a game of quick play or whatever to feel like a game of ranked every time, if I wanted that, I would play ranked

Thank you for letting me know that I am not the only one having this experience as I was going crazy. To be honest, I am totally against SBMM but the lag comp annoys me more than SBMM. I can handle playing against sweats but being at a disadvantage all the time is rage inducing. According to your explanation of lag comp, I think I might have the best internet connection in the world as everyone sees me first, in gunfights and around corners, and I am not even exaggerating, it's crazy. I have a 4.1 K/d in warzone with a 20% win rate, but in this game I feel like a total bot lol. I am hitting that subscribe button.

This is the most frustrating echo chamber I've ever encountered because while I wholeheartedly agree and have the same experiences, it pisses me off that Activision has to hear at least sprinklings of these various rants, and they just fucking ignore it

I literally just got in from an 8 hour shift, booted this game up and got 5 deaths within about a minute. Turned it straight off. I can’t be bothered anymore.

Lag compensation is so bad ive bought full fibre internet a Netgear router to try and sort this issue but still get killed by what feels like 2 bullets even from distance,shoot first die first all the time i can be 4-5 bullets up on someone and before my 6th bullet comes out my gun im insta killed its driving me crazy 😢

I just play black ops 4 and even that game is near unplayable but I have more tolerance for it than I do sbmm in the newer cods

The thing I hate the most is that ever seen MW2019 and every other COD to now, I lag a lot. I lag when I move, I lag and teleport all over the map when I don’t move, plus I have great internet WI-FI 6. No other games does this just COD. Any other COD before MW2019 SBMM didn’t lag like this.

06:47 - Same. BT came and put Fibre Broadband on our street at the start of the year. Brand new cable run into every house and I still get shit on with 2ms latency.
