They think they're making money, but if they did things right, they could've taken over the world by now. SBMM is such a short-sighted strategy. Sure it brings in a lot of players fast, but also ensures they walk away once they get good enough to realize the game is in fact playing them. No FPS game rose to popularity through SBMM meddling with the experience. Indeed, what's the point of killstreaks or challenges or getting better if your results are always forced? I agree people rewarding bad developers with money are the problem.

So weird thing, i have MWII on PS4 upgraded to PS5 version, they force updated MWII to MWIII even before I bought MWIII but I wasn't able to play campaign or MP. Buying the PS4 version of MWIII and upgrading to the PS5 version with the voucher in the case now lets me play the MWIII content but not with the MWIII disc for some reason still need to use the MWII disc. I paid like $45 for the game through target so I didn't even pay the full $70, but since I dont even need the MWIII disc I'm probably going to just return the game effectively making it like the free dlc the game should have been. SBMM feels awful, I gave up on COD after black ops 1 but got into it again mostly cause of DMZ, the remastered MW2 maps made me interested in MWIII but the game is a joke. Really hoping xdefiant ends up being good, or I'll just play battlefield.

Bro I’ve always thought about the kills streaks and nukes in the same way, like how the hell are we even suppose to get a nuke with sbmm. Why even have it in the game. All the nukes I see on RU-vid is them playing against bots that don’t shoot back. They reverse boost to get nukes. I’m planning just to grind camos this year and try having fun with that.

Not buying, agree that's the only answer. Enough people don't buy and things will change. Maximize money is all that matters to them. It seems A LOT of people are complaining about SBMM this year.

The thing about SBMM is it increases playtime. Which may sound weird, but It's sadly pretty logical. People tend to play more matches after getting angry, as the usual mindset is that you want to give it another shot and pray to god the next game will be better. Which it will thanks to SBMM giving bull crap matches with some good matches sprinkled in. Practically making you an angry addict. It's almost the same kind of thing with casino's and gambling, which is why gamblers return for more. But when you have fun constantly, players tend to decide “today was a fun day on cod, let's do something else”. Granted, I DESPISE this system. I just want to have fun after going home and then go to bed while keeping a normal healthy life, not get angry and addicted because I need to have that one good match.

SBMM is a win win for them You retain noobs, and protect them give them time to take out their credit cards to buy blueprints And the highskill vets will buy two copies to join in on easy lobbies

It's down to the hardcore community of players to stop buying the game as the casuals who don't even know what sbmm or eomm is aren't affected and have no reason to stop buying. But for the hardcore fanbase of youtubers sbmm is a subject used every year to get views and interaction in the comments. Every year, the same issues pop up, and the same videos are made. This was the case back in Cold War, and that is why I abandoned my own youtube channel that centred around cod. I found I was talking about the same bs every year and became a chore to cover the game. I've not bought cod since Cold War, seeing as Cold War was the last decent player experience aside from sbmm. I tried the Vanguard beta and MWII beta, then didn't bother trying the MWIII beta. It's something that will likely never change unless players stop buying. A significant loss in sales would force Activision to change something, but at this point, the cod community are victims of abuse that they now just take it while complaining about it but still buying the game. It's ridiculous.

This is the reason that I enjoyed mp online because when I play against the computer I knew that different parameters were being adjusted based on how I performed. Playing online felt more authentic and if I did well I actually knew I was and now they fucked that. Won’t be playing this game anymore. Has had the opposite effect. It’s all a lie. Everytime I think about og mw2 it's about them sweet ass titles. If u wanted a cool title you worked for it. I got the I.C.EMAN title from killing enemies by shooting C4 through a wall and my gamer tag was iceman. Nowadays if u see a cool title u gotta pay for it😂. Nah I'm good not buying mw3. All I see is a better version of the previous shit game

I literally bought the game, granted I have much experience playing cod. I was a level 1 with every game I was getting into just having everyone max level, and the spawns just some how got even worse. I played the game for one hour and then got a refund. This is terrible man absolutely terrible

I think the day cod actually starts to take a big hit is when another shooter comes out with as tight of gameplay is there. In reality COD doesn't actually have that much compition, battlefield was the closest and still not the same and it has gone completely down hill. Also I do think there are alot of people who hop on and genuinely just enjoy playing call of duty as their main game year after year. Like what real alternative do CoD players have - Fortnite (not even in the same ballpark) - Apex? (is only a BR, and has very different mechanics/movement. There regular arena based modes are not that refinied) - Titanfall (RIP) - Battlefield (Lol we saw how that went) - Pubg (a game that runs awfully on console and is also just a BR) - Escape from Tarkov (way too hardcore for the regular player) - Marauders (came and gone) - Destiny? - Valorent (pc only and very different from run n gun cod) - Counter Strike (same issues as valorent) Like this idea that someone should just go play something else when there isn't a good alternative to call of duty is tough. And as i say this i skipped on alot of cods because the game just didnt loko interesting to me, and I actually play alot of other games but I am also a hardcore gamer so i dont expect others to be interested in as many games. But for the average joe who plays maybe 1-3 games in a given year I can see why CoD still gets sold. It's not being abused or anything like that, which if you don't like CoD sure don't buy or play it, but atm in the gaming space there isn't anything to compete with CoD. Honestly I think that is what the biggest issue is, halo really needed to do well because CoD was at its best when it was competing with games like Halo 3, Battlefield, Halo Reach etc. Now there is nobody left to challenge them in that space.

I was a huge cod fan but sbmm ruins it. In even b02 you could make your own lobby and people of all skill levels would join.

SBMM not only you have delay your aim move from target you aim will lock never move to player, your first shots never registers after shadown bann some time my first few shot never registerd, people heard 100km away and i never lisen any body, even 5 meter, if little bit good people heard you very well very loud to alart better player running at you,

For me SBMM isint really an issue, idk if im just that good that it cant really give me a pubs lobby where i get shit on, my main problem with the game is how little cosmetics u get after buying the base game and the normal battle pass 1 time, everyone buying these 20$ operator packs are to blame

sbmm has being around since AW , its just far more effective at identifying players and catergories them. It will even identify how often you sprint , avg ttk, accuraccy and certain movement patterns. Simply tho , they dont want you there. period. Ultimately good players hurt the game so its in their interest to separate them from the average player. It ensures more players play more hours on, average. Also theories kicking around that sbmm is targeting players who spend dispraportionate amounts of money on cosmetics to have a more favourable sbmm too ensure their experience is optimal. Makes sense. Identifying high value players ( money wise) curate their experience to be above average by manipulating their matchmaking algo, make sure they never play anyone sweaty and are always slightly ahead in skill compared to their lobby. Result they think they are amazing at the game and COD is the best game ever . Video games arnt about maxmising your fun, thats meaningless , video games are about maximising ROI.

Its hilarious... Been playing since Cod 4. stopped playing after 3 months into Cold War because the SBMM. Just stop buying the game only way to get to them is by taking away their money...

SBMM is in the game to coddle the new players. It's all about player retention. Noobs spend more money then seasoned players. Noobs stick around longer when they're not getting pummeled by vets. It's all about $$$.

Hell, I'm not even immune despite how anti corpo I can be simply cause my friends keep buying them. I hate COD, I've hated it since like black ops 2, and just buy a new copy here and there cause my friends don't like to play anything other than COD, Val, CSGO, Halo, and Apex and yea thats about it. Everything else is either too slow (never made sense to me cause they play CSGO), too "childish", too gimmicky, all these excuses. I think what it may actually be is that they don't wanna learn a new skillset in a game. I'd also like to mention, I've lately have been seperating players into more groups as of late; you've got the sweatlord/chad/metacrutch, you've got learners, you've got casuals, and then you have what I'd compare to the equivalent of a mobile gamer for console/pc. I think most people fall into a casual category, where they just wanna drop in, engage in a decent gameplay loop and just get some kills, and that's it. I mean that's why we complain about the sweatiness, and I'd like to disagree with your point about cod being about domination. I think by and large most people were fine with a decent K/D and were more interested in getting tangible items like banners, emblems, random shit like that on the side with just messing around with friends. Now we're expected to bring our A game each match, play the meta, stay in the loop on developments so we don't fall to a 0.3 K/D realm, like we're playing E sports. Honestly, what it'll take it a huge portion of their expected demographic to just say no for as long as it takes them to buck their shareholders interests at least a little. People will get fired, there will be a big thing in twitter and reddit of oh the poor devs (which we as the consumer should realize and own up to, I believe we should support the good devs that do get cut and fund their dream projects), we the consumer will be dragged through a corporate "this isn't the right way to protest" or "Don't you feel shame for the devs we had to fire", and it will take most of us giving them the finger. Further, guys do not denegrate yourself for maybe being "smooth brain" and maybe just not realizing a "vision". It is ok to look up to these big companies and saying to them we are actually smart enough to say THIS GAME SUCKS

Ima be honest as a player with 10k+ hours on csgo/cs2, lvl 10, etc this whole SBMM issue feels way too overblown. SBMM has been in call of duty games since 2007 however they've only recently ramped up it's aggressiveness in the last few CODs they've released. Sure, it's impossible to get 5-10 KDR like we could back in the day and that's SBMM's fault. But you gotta understand, back in the day the entire playerbase was trash and it's been what almost 15 years since MW2 2009 release. The entire skill of the playerbase has risen, kids nowadays are playing on consoles/PC at the age of 10-13 with far better equipment than we did back in the day. All due respect, but I honestly think if you can't keep up then yeah just keep reverse boosting because at the end of the day all that matters is if you're having fun and honestly SBMM makes every lobby extremely sweaty but I live for that shit ngl.
