Lechien, (who owned the day on the 500cc), was caught in his hotel room by Manager Roger DeCoster, (The Man), partying with a couple of French Gals in his hotel room the night before the race, and told Roger "Don't worry". It was one of those rare "you can't catch me today" race's for Ron Lechien. Nobody ever figured out what got Ronnie in the mood to race.
