Coucou ! Here's a little MXR '78 Custom Badass Distortion sound test with the Cort G110, plugged into to HX Stomp (clean). Quite dig it !

I wanted the keeley ds1. Couldnt find one at reasonnable price, so I got the MXR CB78 because I heard it was a clone of the Keeley. Then, few months later I found a Keeley DS1 for a reasonnable price, so I bought it. Now I have both, and I can tell. They are IDENTICAL. This MXR 78 deserve more credit, it sounds so good. And for those people who bash the DS1, like if they didnt know 50% of all those classic rock records have DS1 all over them, I’ll just paraphrase someone who knows about pedals: « i you cant find a good tone out of the DS1, then the problem is not the pedal ».

Super nice comment Julien, thank you for sharing your experience ! Never tried neither the Keely DS1 or the Boss one, but I really really liked this MXR 78...wasn't expecting it to sound like that at all :) Thanks again !

Agreed the DS1 is one of those pedals you really need to work with to understand it. I literally run my distortion on 1 or lowest possible setting and it’s everything I want! I also have the badass and it’s a great pedal and fun to use!!

My go to pedal for distortion, added to my board 5 years ago, love it for classic rock. Dude your bad ass jams are really good 👍.

Very early GnR classic rock sound to it! Nails that 70's hard rock tone, although admittedly it's a pretty generic version of it. Probably helps to pair it with some other tone sculpting pedals to bring out a unique voice, but as a base to build upon your own classic rock guitar tone, this one will do you just fine.

I bought this pedal bc i wanted a heavy distortion. What I got was a heavy overdrive pedal. A distortion it is not, but it's still pretty cool and makes my amp distortion sound fuller and better.

Great demo, I use this pedal in front of a Boss blues driver and/or Fender pugilist for tone shaping, plays well with others.

Im gonna back you up on this one.... Everyone how is watching, this is a great pedal. Very versatile!!! I had it on my pedal board for several years. I play worship music. This pedal with reverb and delay really shines..... Great demo!!!

@@JohanJoosLaur It is the only pedal I have. Haven't bought any more in case I decide to get a Bozz-Zoom or other multi-effects. I just downloaded some great free amp sims. What do I need to be able to use them? Keep it low cost! Thanks!

@@b.j.thomas3264 Hey B.J ! Okay so what you need is an external audio interface...and that's all ! If you do not have any headphones or speakers though you would have to invest a bit in that too. As of audio interface, brand new it will cost you something like 50€ for a simple one ? Like the M-Audio M-track Solo for example, or the Behringer UMC22. Avoid the etra cheap ones you'd find on Amazon or everywhere basically. If you want to go even cheaper : plenty of these on the used market, you can easily find some for like 20€ or something :) If you have Messenger and want to hit me there, do not hesitate ! Would be easier than here maybe aha. Cheers !

@@JohanJoosLaur I bought trex mud honey 2 by watching your videos and I am very pleased. Actually similar pedals but mxr looks very bright to me.
