MXR Custom Badass '78 Distortion Pedal 

Sounds like an excited kid playing with a distortion for the first time

MXR should sue this demo.

Man. Yours demos are not the best around, but this is a new level In the art of a bad demo/tone/play.

I started guitar 2 months ago and when I clicked on this to see the pedal I thought he sounded bad but I thought it was my lack of experience or something. Nope the comments agree, he didn’t do justice to the pedal.

PGS demos lots of the same pedals these guys do but they make them sound so much better

It just sounds like diodes clipping out to me. I've got a boss ds-1 I modded to Keeley specs, and it doesn't sound too much different from this demo. I think I'm gonna have to try one in person to really hear it. I have yet to hear a truly awesome youtube demo.

How come 9 times out of ten the guitar cables that are used in these videos, are the Dimarzio Yngwie Malmsteen Signature Cable. I know for a fact that is the cable because i have one.

@BassPlayerBedwell He's showing the eq range the pedal has. From what you're hearing, It has alot of tonal possibilities :)

I should've clarified. I like MXR's stuff. My comment was aimed at the guitar tone itself, not so much the pedal. I've seen other demos of it and it does sound decent.

It would be better if they would show how he is adjusting the knobs. This is more like a demo of the taylor.

Paul has always been more interested in showing off than demoing gear

I can't believe the amount of negative comments about his playing, just because he doesn't sound like most other boring conservative guitarists.

That's correct. Paul is a fantastic guitar player, the Taylor is nice and the MXR pedal is good but the audio is not where it should be. Listen to this video then listen to PGS video of the same pedal. Big Difference. They use a 1200 Dollar ribbon mic and the same Fender amp for all their vids. PGS is just more consistant in their audio recording. Look at how they record their videos and you'll see why. Paul get's a (LIKE) Audio gets a (Thumbs Down)

All I can say is WOW and not in the good sense.

Demo certainly didn't compel me to try out Taylor's electric guitars. Paul looked like he was really fighting to play it. Pedal sounds better with a guitar designed for rock n roll.

Mxr ' s .....super ! Comp ! 78 distortion! Badass od ! Bass 's and lead 's guitars ....and more .high standards pedals, in sounds .....only , carbon copy 's and wah wah pedals , needs to upgrades! More ......power 's !!! (

God it's almost as if Guitar World is trying to make their demo's sound horrible on purpose. They destroy everything they demo. Incredible.

That Taylor sounds too twangy for me. I didnt hear anything in particular I liked.

Absolutely unconventional guitar and playing style .. I believe this is not the way to review a distorttion.

This wasn’t the right guitar or playing style to demo this pedal. Like the name suggests it’s more of a vintage style sound distortion. Doesn’t sound great with all this shredding

Wow. GW has some of the whineyest, sniveling blowhards I have ever encountered in my life. I don't like the guitar, I don't like the tone, I don't like the pedal (all in a childs voice) Makes me sad for the human race.
