Want to START a business? Go here: skool.com/games
If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.
Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.
Never quit,
Alex
FULL DISCLOSURE
I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.

As a physician, I think that there is a lot of solid advice here. However, I want to caution everyone watching this video that outward appearance does NOT equal inner health. I see fit, trim individuals with heart problems quite frequently. Food is more than calories, it is also nutrients, anti-oxidants, vitamins, and even fiber / non-digestible foods for gut micro biome that all play a role in your overall health. My two cents to add, don’t neglect nutrient intake. Highly processed foods (ice cream) are stripped of these nutrients. Vegetables and fruits are the richest in nutrients, make these a key part of your “non protein” calories and your body will thank you years down the road

Conflating fitness and health - a mistake I made for like 20 years. For example, my dad is 5'11" 160lbs, works out regularly, 65 years old - looks good on the surface (i.e. "fitnes"), but can't eat without taking pills, kidneys stones, gallbladder removed, bad lipids, hypertension...Why? Macros aren't created equal. Huge difference between eating 100 grams of fat / day from ribeye vs soybean oil.

Yeah love Alex but lost me on this one for sure. 100 cal of carbs does not equal to 100 cal of good fat. Not to mention that most carbs that are eating these days are all GMOD and what they do to your RNA is crazy. Read any of the good books out there Wheat Belly, the Carnivore Code among others. And calories are just a unit of measure. Kind of like saying that 10 oz of tequila will have the same effect on you as 10 oz of beer. 😎

You are correct, as long as you eat the right amount of protein and don't overeat you will maintain muscle and body weight. You could do it forever and still be muscular and lean, but being shredded and huge doesn't equate to health. You can be the best-looking guy anywhere and be rotting on the inside from all the sugar you're eating. Don't confuse having a six-pack with internal health. This may be the 'perfect diet' if your only goals are aesthetic-based, but not for life.

This is just how I live naturally, but things I look at are: no seedoils, no lean meet, fat meat is better for digestion. don''t use low fat yoghurt coz they exchange that with sugar, also no cola light coz that is very bad for you microbiome. Finally try to get your sugars from fruits coz that doesn't spike glucose levels.

A lot of people feel so much better on a keto diet or on paleo...that is because there is so much more to a diet than only gaining or losing weight. If you have a great insulin sensitivity...go for eating cookies and ice cream. Tons of people get tired after eating that. There is definitely sense behind other ways of eating.

While from a weight loss, weight gain perspective, this is accurate. I believe it is a mistake to assume "looking healthy" (six-pack all of that) = being healthy are the same. You can have a six-pack and fall over dead today from a heart attack/stroke or develop various other ailments. Regardless of how you appear outwardly, what you consume has an impact on your internals. You can be what looks like to be in great shape outwardly and develop diabetes, have liver disease, or have heart failure.

So the main benefit to keto for me is that it puts me in a better state to eat less calories and feel good at the same time. But again, I agree with you. It's all about calories in the end.

You left out a variable called Metabolism. You were shredded at 13, which means you were genetically designed to eat what you wanted to basically and because you lift and aren’t into your mid 30’s yet, you still have that genetic benefit. Someone who is fat younger does not have your metabolism and your computes don’t work for them. Sorry things are not so simple as your state. From experience having fat genetics. Also, sugar and starch release Insulin which is a fat storage hormone and effects fat genetics more than your genetic type. 500 Calories of Sugar does not effect the hormones and metabolic effect of 500 calories of steak. If eating the meat with your sugar, that can slow down the effects of sugar. It’s much more complicated than you make it for different metabolic types. Thank your creator you have been blessed with the metabolism you have. Those who are heavier genetically please read “The Obesity Code”

While calorie restriction only might be how to lose weight/be in shape, as a physician I can say the long-term cardiovascular effects of "eating whatever" is death. Not eating veggies, and eating junk carbs, ruins your blood vessels and your pancreas, which ultimately results in heart disease. The current recommendation from physicians (AAFP) is Mediterranean diet, or FDA is 1/2 plant-based, 1/4 protein, 1/4 carbs. Not "all the ice cream and cookies"--be in moderation please for your heart!

this model can def work on the short term while you're young but for long term health eating/drinking whatever you want is not sustainable even if you are maintaining your weight. idk .. do we know that to be a fact or is that what we’ve been lead to believe? You ever seen what Chad Ocho Cinco eats .. that dude is pretty ripped and lives off fast food. active lifestyle > diet. I’ve done it both ways , ate super clean and now I just eat whatever I want as long as i stay under 2,200 calories .. both worked. I disagree with him aswell. It is all about protein and calories when it comes to weight gain or loss, but there is far more to a diet. There is no problem eating cookies and having a six pack, but for some people it will, depending on the amount, mess with their health, especially mental like you say. Is sounds like Alex is saying that "sixpack diet" = "healthy diet". Also I don't get why he is mixing this with things like blue filter glasses. It helps a lot of people with their sleep.
