Yaaas this is the video I've been waiting for. As an avid fragrance collector with nearly 200 bottles, I can't tell you how much I love these types of videos. Stuck at work though, so I'll watch it properly when I'm at home tonight. Happy New year to you, David and bunno!🐰
I so hope you enjoy watching my friend! I am also super into perfume, it's definitely my 'thing' haha!! I hope work goes smoothly, hugs and a very Happy New Year to you too! xx
I enjoy your videos about perfumes. Last time I got Armani Vert Malachite as I fell in love with the scent. I am going to try the ones from today's video as I also like oud😊 Thank you❤
Perfumes are very powerful memory anchors. Whatever I used to wear during high school and uni I can’t wear now 😂 I have been highly obsessed with perfumes in 2023, I love these videos. Great collection!
I've been watching you for years, since I was probably 12, im 18 now and I continue to love your videos 🩷 I love fragrance and this is so exciting to see , thank you for always making such pleasant content xx
It has always amazed me how magical the alchemy of combining personal skin chemistry with a particular fragrance can be just mind blowing ly unique…. I used to not care for Versace Eros until one day my husband said “I kinda like this”, put some on, and about 5 minutes later I was ready to climb him and devour him right there in the store!!! Alone? Meh… ON him? 🤩 goddamn
Happy New Year Sophie, I just came back from your country, London was sooo crowded, where did all those people come from. VL perfumes don't last longer than the wind. I love niche perfumes and ouds that don't knock me off my feet. I got some good ouds in Nice and Grasse this past summer. You should also try Automic Rose by Initio. And yes I have been to the 6th floor at Harrods and tons of very lovely perfumes. Have a great 2024 and wish you luck in your person and business life!
As I have move through my 30s, I enjoy and prioritise fragrance over other ‘finishing touches’ opting to pair back hair , make up, jewellery etc. We have completely opposite preferences in a scent. I prefer to wear a fresh and soft scent that fades through the day, but I simply love hearing someone’s take on what they look for in a fragrance. I adore the smell of oud/ incense on others!
Sophie I really think you should get into Arabian perfumes. You like same notes I like. Arabian perfumes are way more unique because in the western world no one knows them or uses them. They preform all day as well. You can try Abd Al samad Alqurashi. Or even Lattafa as a beginning. Am sure you will like many many fragrances they have. Please try to get your hands on Musk Altahara(purity/cleanliness). It is a must for me with baby oil right after bath and I smell sooo clean and attractive u til the nect shower. Those brands sells also oil based ones and even ones specially made for hair. I think you really should experiment with them!
I love perfume. When I like a perfume I always buy the biggest and smallest size. I keep the big bottle at home and take the small one with me to touch up throughout the day. It’s been a game changer. The bag isn’t as heavy anymore 😂
Totally agree that Harrods is the best place to discover new perfumes. That's where I discovered Boadicea the Victorious perfumes. Totally addicted now. 👌💜 So true that fragrance brings back memories and not just perfumes.
It’s so nice to see your fragrance collection, thank you for sharing ❤I am surprised there are no Dior La collection prive in your collection, if I had to bet I thought you’d have at least one or two 😊 Have you tried EDP Frederic Malle? I can definitely see you wearing Portrait of a Lady! If you like it you should try the hair mist and body and hair oil from that range, they are lush! ❤
I've been looking forward to this video! Also Sophie, could you please do your favorite body care products such as lotions, shower gels etc? Love your videos as always!
I have Initio Atomic Rose perfume and I am obsessed with it. (it's Delina Parfums de Marly 's older sister). ❤ Thank you for this video, Sophie! Lovely as always!
Hi, Sophie! Beautiful collection of perfumes. I think I'll look into a few you suggested because my mum always loves adding to her fragrance collection! Also, the memory triggered by smell -- or any other sensation -- is called the Proust Effect/Proustian moment (sometimes referred to as an involuntary memory). The term was coined from his (Marcel Proust's) novel, Rememberance of the past, where the protagonist reflects on his childhood memories upon eating a madeline cake with tea. I thought I'd show that bit of random trivia with you 😁 It's a bit unfortunate to hear your memories with Angel by Mugler is associated with university and anxiety; it's a beautiful scent. That, however, shows how down to Earth you are!
Lovely selection. I have not heard of a lot of these. I have never had a perfume go off. (Once I thought one had but it was just a change, not ruined!). Thank you for the video.
Frederic Malle never disappoints. I have Rose Tonnerre, Iris Poudre, Lipstick Rose and Noir Epices. All are fabulous. And for vintage feel, definitely Tresor by Lancome. Rose Tonnerre and Iris Poudre are uni-sex.
One i loved for more than a decade is Kenzo’s flower. Its a medium strong perfume thats beautiful! Prada’s candy is also really warm and yummy. Funny you mentioned apple scents, its my favourite kind of fragrance, and i never hear anyone else talk about it
I completely agree with what you said about fragrance evoking memories and feelings. I get the same experience with all my perfumes and even random smells of food, stores, streets, etc. One example for me is Viktor & Rolf's flowerbomb which was my go to during a time I was heavily dating. That perfume makes me nervous first and then anxious, literally in that order. lol It triggers my heart to beat hard and fast the very instant i'd smell it and it's because I used to put it on just before a date where I would always feel nervous or anxious. I find this to be the magic of fragrance but like you, I also avoid scents that would teleport me back to a not so positive time in my life.
Thank you. I prefer a floral scent now. It is interesting, I am old now and like a light scent. When I was in my 40's I liked the scents you do. When I was a teen I liked anything loud , anything some movie star or rocker liked, I really had no taste. It is interesting how our perfume choices evolve
I'm not sure how old "old" is...but I'm 66, and have recently gotten back into fragrances. I have some of every sort...but spices are my favorite and have always been. I l-i-k-e some florals, but usually with a twist. Oud has been a revelation--so long as it's not "barnyard-y". It adds depth to a fragrance, which I enjoy! My signature scent since 1981 was Gianni Versace for Women...the OG. It was discontinued after his death, but I maintain a small stash. It's considered a Chypre Floral...but the first note is spices, and is multidimensional. Turns out, that's how I like my fragrance collection to be...multidimensional.
What an interesting video! I love perfumes that contain oud, sandalwood and amber, but I prefer the niche Arabic ones, which are very intense and literally make me dream, in fact this summer I picked up a couple while traveling. Of the commercial ones I like Guerlain Santal Royal, even if it doesn't last long on my skin unfortunately.
Well I do not wear fragrances ever, but Sophie I swear you make me want to go out and purchase these. I have already been looking them up 😄 I always so enjoy your videos! Happy New Year to you and David!
Hi Sophie!😉As someone who is into perfumes, I was going to ask you for a perfume collection update. Thanks a lot for sharing!😊 I‘ve just finished a bottle of Oud Save the Queen (bought it more than 5 years ago), and you‘re right, these perfumes last for ages (I kept mine in a dark drawer). It was one of my winter fragrances. At the moment, I like Hudson Yards by Bond Nr 9 (floral, though). Another good one is Eau de velours by Bottega Veneta (rose and suede), but, unfortunately, it‘s been discontinued🙈. Oh, yes, I‘ve got horrible Thierry Mugler Angel memories, too.😅🫣 Lots of love, Carole x
Mona (Kattan) has been very clear that ALL Kayali fragrances are not meant to be worn alone, but to be layered. Layering them changes their longevity completely in my experience. One of my favorite combinations is Xerjoff's Golden Dallah with Vanilla 28 and Choco Musk. The combination lasts all day and has many dimensions. Al Harrimain's Amber Oud Tobacco Edition (but no oud in notes) is a 100% dup for Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille. My daughter had the Tom Ford in her collection, and had the Amber Oud Tobacco Edition on her "want" list, so I bought it for her. We sprayed one on one wrist, and the other on the other...and they are identical! Perhaps it's because perfumes began in the Middle East, but they have a mastery of fragrances...even moreso than the French "noses". I'm very happy that we aren't relegated to what we can find in major department stores nowadays because niche and Middle Eastern fragrances are an absolute revelation!!!
Lovely collection! I think the ones who are more likely to go off are lighter, citrusy and floral perfumes. Heavy and rich perfumes can last for even more than 10 years ❤
Enjoyed the video! I too love my fragrances and have far too many, I’m often in Harrods having a good sniff. May I recommend Celine, they have a few great ones you may like. 😀😍
Vanilla fragrances I fell in love with this year (mainstream perfumes) that last really well: - Giorgio Armani - Sí Eau de Parfum Intense; the first flanker in that range I actually like - Burberry - Goddess; love at first sniff, I imagine this is going to be extremely popular and present everywhere and I'll stop wearing it because of that. Agreed on Kayali, they're nice but don't last. Such a shame.
Ahhhh...but Kayali fragrances are meant for layering, not wearing alone, which has them lasting all day! I layer Vanilla 28 (and sometimes Choco Musk) over everything and it adds so much dimension!!!
Absolutely love Fragrance Du Bois Sophie. My favourite is Minute et Demi, a beautiful gourmand collaborated with Demi Rawling. It lasts all day & when I open my wardrobe, I can smell it on my clothes. Love Eileen x❤
Interesting that you consider vanilla unisex. I always thought it's actually quite a feminine smell. Maybe because there was a period of time when all 16-18 year old girls wore it to school. Lavender, on the other hand, gives me strong unisex vibes.
Vanilla is the scent that is most universal loved, by men and women. A reason is because it's in baby milk and many of us grow up with a taste for vanilla. Vanilla today is omnipresent, as room scents in retail stores, perfumes and even in toys or plastic. I would say vanilla is the ultimate unisex ingredient for any scent profile.
I think because you’re thinking of sweet vanilla, but vanilla itself isn’t always sweet. depending on how you combine it they can end up spicy or musky instead of like candy
Omgeee we have the same LV perfume!!! It’s the only thing I bought when we went to LV paris during our birthday trip! I’m just happy to know, we have one the same perfume! 😄❤
@@plavaovcica Fragrance du Bois is definitely an example of that too. While she does say it's PR in the description, wish she mentioned that in the video because she doesn't own anything in that price bracket that isn't PR based on the video.
I am very glad you shared your fav fragrances! I am into them too. I love that memories are attacked to them for sure. I love trying new onces but still have Dior Dune because of my happy past that time I started using it ❤
Thank you for the video!! Got some recommendations as I feel like we have kinda similar taste! I think you should try Silky Woods Goldfield & Banks , with this one I feel it has some similarities to side effect but more subtle and with oud ,
This video is definitely going to attract the fragheads on youtube. As a long time watcher of your channel and also a perfume fanatic, your collection is most likely more around £20 000 and not £2000😂
Hi Sophie ! I love niche perfumes and Fragrances du Bois's quality is stunning . I got Oud Jaune Intense for my birthday last year and I just love it .
I got a L'Interdit sample several years ago from Sephora, and I adore it! It was created for Audrey Hepburn. I figured, if it's good enough for her, it's good enough for me! ;)
I agree the kayali doesn’t last long. I purchased the sampler since everyone was going wild over it and was disappointed. I like ours and vanillas as well! ✨🌻
Love your videos, and your attitude. Have you discovered Carthusia , or l’artisan parfumeur, not too expensive but unusual fragrances? Guerlain l, heure bleue and mitsouko worn together is classic
The last time you did a fragrance video and spoke of that MAC velvet teddy, I tracked one down and then bought a second. $330 USD but amazing and worth it.
Hi Sophie, Mac’s Velvet Teddy is 99,9% the same fragrance as Tom Ford’s Tobacco Vanille. You can give it a try. I can also recommend “Borntostandout” fragrances, especially Drunk Saffron - it’s the perfect vanilla, leather, musk combination.
Happy Holidays Everyone! I Love parfums thank You for sharing Your collection, and I have some what You got😉 You know that You smelled 1of Your parfum and said don't like it anymore. Don't think it's forever. Your mood and season will change, and 1day You smell it,and like it even more. So the parfums You got will never go out of date, it's like good wine it more it lust it more potent becomes. ❤🔥❤🔥❤
Nice collection, very catered mostly to just what you like. (If I can get a travel spray I always get one instead vs a bigger bottle personally) I’ve been also liking places that decant larger bottles and sell smaller sizes of fragrance that would be hard to smell in person (guerlain l’art line for example). Only spending a fraction of the cost and get a 2ml or 3ml has been a great way to filter down to absolute loves. However, there appears to be a lot of places in the US that do this, which may not be the case everywhere else.
I simply love fragrances especially something with a cherry note although I also have others that contain other notes. I have several by various niche houses such as Creed, House of Sillsge,
LV Atrape Reves was my foray into luxury fragrance and funny I think I like it because of the cocoa notes that reminded me of Angel (which I used to wear until the rest of the world discovered it and I smelled it everywhere). I just discovered the specialty Dior fragrances and got the “ Christian Dior Gris” and love it.
I just recently bought kayali Eden sparkling lychee and it smells lovely. I find that it lasts the longest in my hair, usually about two days I can still smell it
No matter my main fragrance, I layer Vanilla 28 over it and in my hair. Lovely! I'm "aging" my Sparking Lychee currently and will bring it out in spring. The alcohol was still strong when I got it.
I still wear Daisy (the original one) today. I love this smell ❤. I wish they had not discontinued the eau de parfum. Have not found anything to replace it……..🤗🇨🇦
I have New York intense from fragrance du bois. It’s only the travel size, because obviously the price is far too much for me for the full size bottle, but good lord, if I had the money, this would be my signature scent. Love love❤
The downside for me is when they discontinue a fragrance specifically one that reminds me of London 😢 I bought a Chanel in Harrods when visiting London and they discontinued the fragrance
The pronunciation for the Louis Vuitton perfume was attrape-rêve right? It’s French for dream catcher, and is pronounced ah (like a-pple)-trap (roll the r in the back of your throat) rêve is like revv (like your engine, but roll the r)
GIRL 2K FRAGRANCE???????? THE FRAGRANCE DU BOIS BOTTLES 4 ONLY IS MORE THAN 2K LOL AND YOU HAVE A LOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT. I OWN MINUIT ET DEMI FROM THE BRAND DO YOU OWN IT? I LOVE YOUR TASTE OF FRAGRANCE AS I ADORE KAYALI THEY ARE MY FAV, THEY LAST LONG ON ME...... BUT THE EDEN APPLE DIDNT MADE IT ON COLLECTION AS A RESELLED IT.
This is something I am totally opposite from you. I love floral and dislike oud. Speaking of perfume and memory, my special one is Jo Malone’s Mimosa and Cardamom. I bought it during my trip to UK and I use it on every rainy day now.
