Both Chanel bags in red are gorgeous! I find Louboutin very overrated. So many women complain on how painful his shoes are. I think real talent is when you can make beautiful shoes and comfortable ones.
***** It's just my personal opinion. :) When it comes to shoes, comfort always comes in first place for me. Now people are free to do whatever they want to their feet. ;)
This is true and I hate the fact that he said it him self that he didn't design for comfort. That's actually an insult to us women! Having said that I have Louboutins, one pair is booties with 8 cm heels and the other is overknee boots with 7 cm heels. I still have to put shoe inserts to make them more comfortable, but I don't understand women who would still buy Louboutin that are 10cm and higher.
Louboutin used to be my ultimate HG shoes but once I was able to afford a pair... I only wore them once and immediately sold them off (at a $$$ loss too)... will not buy them again no matter the hype, uncomfortable, does not fit well and soooo painful
I'll never understand why as women, we have the ability to excuse flaws in high-priced items, and continue to buy them. I've never known a Louboutin to be anything other than painful, yet we put up with the pain, and pay a pretty price for that pain! However, if a $40 Zara shoe caused that pain, we'd bin it.
Ok some thoughts, just my opinion; the beige medium is discontinued so I'd hang on to it and if you're like me you'll go thru a phase when u love it again. The red mini is stunning try it more crossbody with white t and denim? Lastly the cost, take it to a Taylor and get them to remove the cuff and have an elegant 3/4 sleeve? Xx
Hi guys! I'm getting a lot of questions about whether I'll be selling any of these items. I am planning on doing a blog sale in the next couple of weeks where some of these items (but not all) will be featured. I always post the sale on my blog and announce it on my Instagram so check there to keep updated :)
I think it's great besides I'm learning what's suitable in high end bags ! I think you ought to try YT see what happens you can always change your mind besides you are genuine when it comes to talking about your bags and I appreciate that immensely 😍😍😍
I really appreciate this kind of video, really helps someone who doesn't have many designer pieces to take in consideration things they might not have thought about
As I began to watch this video I immediately fell in love with your accent and how proper you speak, I was blown away at the words you used and made it seem so simple and makes you seem so intelligent!!! Maybe it's just the girls I watch who over use the word "like", but either way I haven't seen someone speak this well in a while 😂 you're gorgeous btw💕💕
Love the honesty of this video, as there are many people who would never admit that a Chanel classic doesn't work for them. If you do decide to sell the mini or the M/L I hope you advertise them on a blog sale, as I am sure that there are many of us who would eagerly snap up one or both!
Keep your beige Chanel, I have it and as I've got older, I wear it so much more, yes for more formal events like weddings, the horse races etc but it's such a classic. Re your coat, get a tailor to remove the cuffs, even if the sleeves become slightly cropped it will be very nice and much more wearable. Just discovered you btw (looking for comparisons of min Chanel square vs the rectangle) and you've convinced me to get a a Chanel mini in the square, hoping I can get one on an upcoming visit to Singapore. Love your work!
I don't really need suggestions on luxury purchases, not really my interest but I don't know why.. I just LOVE watching your videos, love the way you talk, love your voice!
Just what I was thinking! That miu miu coat could easily be fixed/tailored, try and look into it Ami. ☺️ It's too gorgeous of a coat for the sleeves not to be fixed (tailors are not as expensive as you might think either).
All so lovely pieces. We all think hard before we make choices but still can't tell if it will turn out the way we expected until we try. Thanks for sharing!
I could not agree more on the Louboutins. I have had 2 pair so far and I've sold both pair. The pain was RIDICULOUS. I went to a special reception thing for my mom and I literally walked to the car barefoot. I couldn't feel my toes and literally my back, knees, and feet hurt from wearing them lol! I still want a pair but I'll have to keep looking for a pair that are even slightly more comfortable
Love hearing your opinions, I always trust you. I've been obsessed with your channel, keep binge watching your old videos! You make me want the gucci soho so badly! xx
How do little cuffs affect how people see you at work? That seems silly to me. Kate Moss wears a full leopard print coat and she looks pretty good. I think you're too self conscience about that. Have you ever noticed anyone's coat cuffs? Ever? Wear your coat. I bet it's super cute on you.
I can see how in some super formal/professional environments it would not be appropriate to wear leopard print especially considering how very bright and obvious that print is in contrast to the very crisp black coat. Nothing wrong with not feeling comfortable in something when your environment changes, especially when you are in a field that is mostly male sometimes you have to unfortunately tailor your look so you come off extra professional to make sure people take you seriously. It is sad that this happens, but I often feel the same way. Of course I don't know exactly her thought process but I can definitely understand it being more of an image she's trying to project over not having the confidence to wear it.
I wouldn't wear the coat for work either and it is not about what others think but how I feel. Kate moss is a professional model so she can be as crazy as she wants and her look is not how most professional ordinary people dress day to day.
Amie!!! Thanks for being so honest about the pieces on your list, I love them all but I get every single point you have against them. We all learn from our experience ( I wouldn't call those purchases mistakes), but I must tell you that what is on you list is to die for!!! Hope you could change your mind and start wearing them (except the Louboutins, none wants to be in pain) you could totally rock them all!!!
Thank goodness, yes, those Chanel logo earrings are tacky. I also don't get spending real jewelry prices on costume jewelry. The monogram is at least a print, while still a bit much for me it is at least a design. I am not a bit LV person, but the one bag I do like and might try to save for is the alma bb in the damier ebene. It's just really cute and seems fairly carefree. I would actually wear it mostly as a casual bag. Perhaps if tried that you'd get more use of it. I can see it jeans and a nice blouse.
Something I've never understood is why people spend so much money on items they know they won't use. I've seen a lot of these videos around RU-vid and it just surprises me
She didn't know that she wouldn't use it. I think all of us buy things we THINK we will use but then your tastes change or your lifestyle changes and you just don't use it.
I heard that you can tape together the two longest toes next to the big toe to avoid getting sore feet. It is a nerve there and your release it from being pinched. I think you would rock your Chanelbags, the red once against your white blouse were fantastic!
Also in terms of matching the red; Be more daring! I bought a pair of red boots and though it would be so hard to match but really red goes so well with black, blue, white, grey, beige outfits. I generally try to keep the rest of my outfit neutral but mix all those colours. Try it :D
I think the problem with the Louboutin shoes is that the pitch is so high that you are standing on your toes instead of the weight being directed to the balls of your feet.
That's exactly the issue. The pitch is too aggressive. It looks GREAT on a shelf, eyes level with the shape of the shoe, but ankles and calves can't compensate for the angle.
His 100mms and 85mms are much more comfortable. So yes the pitch is a problem. Also they are for very specific and slim feet, therefore the pain of pinching. She also has the patent pair and close pointed toe, really hard to break in and not for everybody.
Loved your honesty about all these items and it has helped in how I will choose future purchases! 😊Have you asked a reputable tailor if they can remove the leopard print detail off the coat?
Hey Amie! I know the two of you don't share the same sense of style - but Alex (HRHCollection) has the philosophy that if you love a bag and want to wear it - WEAR IT! Even if it maybe isn't a 100% perfect match with the outfit. The red Chanel's are beautiful and so hard to come by it would be a shame to sell them
Hi Amie, where do you normally sell your bags? what do you think is the best way to do it? I bought my first chanel bag. At first I was overjoyed, as I dreamed about owning this bag since I was a small girl. But now I just feel sick to my stomach about this purchase. Spending this much money.... I know I should've known in advance but I never ever thought there would be a chance for me feeling like this... I now just want to sell the bag and get over this super dumb decision...
Hi, not sure if you'd be comfortable but these would be my suggestions for the valentine pouch and the Miu Miu coat. Take the pouch to a cobbler, they'll be able to put an eyelet through the leather and a strap could then be put through to turn it into a wristlet for the coat if you take that to a tailor they should be able to make the cuffs removable so at weekends you can rock them and during the week at work you can still wear your lovely- more one of a kind!- coat.
omg miumiu coat is so adorable and i can see you rocking it amazingly. if you fell its not suitable for workdays wear it on weekends and please dont make this baby sit in the closet. i didnt think i would be this passionate about that coat untill i saw that sleeves! then i am sold the it is everything for that coat! please wear them with a work dress black stocking and flat and rock it!
Hello Amie, thanks for mentioning the red bag issue. Since last time, I got some advice about pairing red accessories : wear with stripes or graphic, black, navy, kaki, ethnic prints/wax, black, all light pink look, denim/chambray shirt, blue jeans and white t-shirt look. There is one item that I fell in love with and never ended up wearing : A light pink/nude Furla Candy bag. The object itself was so cute and girly (which does not really match with my personality) and it was a lot bigger in size than what I expected; it looked like I was carrying a piece of furniture !!!! lol!
Amie, have you looked into getting the sleeves on your coat dyed black? That way the coat could be more subtle and wearable? Also, when it comes to Louboutins, I never ever buy them higher than 100mm--are your Anjalinas higher than that?
I want that Alma BB so bad! If you consider selling it - I will definitely buy it! It's my birthday today and I am going to LV to pick out a new handbag! Love your videos as always, so professional and informative. Thank you! Xx
May I suggest the VARINA ballerina flats and CARLA pumps from Ferragamo? That's all I ever wear, can dress them up/down, classy/elegant, comfortable. I believe I have more than 10 pairs lurking in my shoe cupboard!
That Miu Miu coat is gorgeous!! Have you thought about taking it to a tailor to get the sleeves altered? Might be worth it to make it a little more wearable x
May I suggest that you can use the studded Valentino clutch for a mini iPad cover because it is rather flat. I'm not sure of the measurements or if you even own an iPad, but it looks like it would fit.
You can alter the Miu Miu coat sleeve hem at a good tailor. It may involve getting a black fabric to match the cuff. The tailor will just remove the leopard detail and swap it with the black fabric. It can be done.
Just a tip for the louboutins, rather than trying the blow dry trick or the sock trick, I recommend lotioning your feet and slipping them in! I purchased a pair of So Kates last week and they were an absolute pain! My toes were killing, but once I lotioned them, they fit and felt amazing (well as amazing as a pair of 120mm shoes can feel lol)! You just have to make sure your toes can lay flat in the toe box because that is what makes them more comfortable and thats where the lotion helps! xx
I'm so glad you included the Loubs, for the longest time I felt like the only weirdo that thought they were uncomfortable!! I had three pairs (all diff styles) and I had to sell off two, only kept the ones I wore for my wedding. Loubs are so overrated. Thanks again for your honest opinion!!!
Amie, if you really like the design of Alma BB, you may want to change yours to Epi Leather Black. Then you can bring this bag out for dinner and/or events. I would also keep the classic channel M/L flap in beige...looks great with casual and formal. and it is also getting harder to get the classic model! look forward to more of your videos :)
Also bring that coat to a tailor! Since you have had it for a long time ( i assume) you can make slight ajustments to it without feeling bad. Cut the sleeves into 3/4 length
I have a LV black empreinte speedy 30 and I never reached for it because I wish it was a smaller size and in a different colour! It never looked right to carry with the long strap and that was a lot of money sitting on the shelf as well! Totally get what you mean!
Hi Amie, What is your opinion of the Furla Metropolis bag? I think it is such a cute mini as I have way too many large bags/totes and so I need a much smaller bag to take out with me to dinners and clubbing. What other small bags in this price range would you recommend?
Haha, I actually ended up going into my local Kate Spade store with a friend on the same day I posted this and bought a medium sized crossbody in a light blue on sale. I realised that a bag as small as the Metropolis would not really suit my style/needs and at the end of the day I don't go out too often so the bag would just be sitting in my wardrobe which would break my heart (and also my wallet!). You have a very gorgeous collection and your style is absolutely amazing. Keep up the good work! :)
Coincidentally, I hardly use my Alma BB and funny enough I was influenced to purchase it from watching your unboxing and initial review.. I almost was going to take the Goyard plunge, but now seeing it's worn down so easily, I've changed my mind. Thanks for your informative video. It was a great watch.
Hi Amie! I like your blog......I am looking for Chanel mini bag. I looking for red (true red, not orange undertones) or "dark" pink ....I am not sure if I choise rectangle but I love your mini.
My louboutins were exactly the same way. I've worn them around the house with two pairs of socks and that's stretched them out and helped break them in.
The louboutin anjalina are extremely comfortable. In the 85mm heel its amazing. Its my everyday heel for work going out but I guess everyone’s different
This video made me sad. So much money spent on these amazing bags (just the 5th one doesn't really please me) that don't get used often. It's your money sitting there, of course, but it really is a pity.
I wouldn't believe that she could sell them with little to no loss. If someone wants to pay just as much, why would they buy a used luxury good when they can get their hands on a brand new one? Part of the luxury mentality is exactly that. And I really thought, being a fashion designer myself, that the appeal of such investments on designer items was having a differenciated nearly-exclusive product... Oh well, what do I know.
Chanel goes up in price frequently - we've had two price increases in the UK in the last six months. It's not hard to make your money back and then some with Chanel, which is why it's been my go-to for so long. It's a pretty safe bet in that regard! :) In response to your eye-rolling comment, it was a white top - so naturally would go with anything. I would however, have to wear jeans with that particular top - and considering I work 5 days a week at a full time job and then 2 days a week on my YT channel and blog, it doesn't leave much time for jeans wearing. I rarely get to wear my smaller bags now so when I do, I just gravitate towards my favourites - that's all.
I'd like to remind you that I said it's your money and I don't have to like or dislike what you do with it, as you already know. But yeah, it really is kinda depressing to see all that splurge for nothing. You were wearing a white top, which not only is easily matched with a red (or any color) bag, but also with many differents types of bottoms. A pair of jeans is just a very safe choice you could make. Don't you think it's kinda weird to buy luxury clothing and accessories without playing around with stylish outfits? I certainly do, even appreciating that not everybody has a loud fashion sense. Regarding the money you spent and the price you could sell the bags for, what I meant was: OK, you can get a sweet deal on those bags when they are much more expensive or get discontinued, but that's not really what's in people's minds when they invest so much money on something, is it? I'm not trying to insult you or your lifestyle, I was just truly scared to see that ridiculous amount of money sitting in your closet, even considering it might come back to your wallet one day. I had to take a look at your channel and realized this is not a problem for you and understand why you don't think it's a big deal. :)
I responded because after 3 comments from you on the same video, it seemed that you felt strongly enough to warrant a response. The top in question is not really the point (but due to the relaxed fit and length, is best suited to jeans or some other slim bottom); I simply don't often have the occasion anymore to wear smaller, non-work appropriate bags. And you're perfectly right, I'm not that adventurous with how I dress but I also work at a corporate job where I believe presentation is extremely important - not to mention the fact that I value classic clothes which will see me through several seasons; a rationale that applies to my bag purchases as well. I'm sorry that you feel depressed about my choices but you really shouldn't - it sounds like you're very blessed to have such a wonderful and cool job, especially in an industry that celebrates individual style and choice.
I was not commenting at all to get you mad or anything so you would respond to me, sorry if it looked like it to you. Here I was just replying to the lady above and the other comments were made as reactions to people's comments as I was scrolling and reading what they had to say.
Hi Amie! I'm trying to decide on my first (and most likely only) Boy and would love to get your input. I'm debating between a red or black one in either GHW or RHW, both in caviar. Any chance you could rank which combo you'd prefer? Thank you!!
Thank you so much!! It's weird bc I'm very much a GHW-type-of-gal too but for some reason, the RHW is what stands out to me when it comes to the boy. Do you think the red would be hard to match. I didn't think of this prior to watching your video but after that and the more I think about it, I worry that it won't get used as much. I'm not huge on black bags ...I tend to reserve that color for very special pieces, I'm not sure why. So my only black bag right now is my vintage jumbo with GHW, which I love! Do you think it would be wiser to get the black in terms of versatility? Its just so much money and I want to make sure that I get as much use out of it as possible. Also, the reasoning behind the red is that it's my fiance's favorite color and we're getting married this year. So I wanted the bag kind of a reminder of this year...I'm marrying my "boy" and I thought of getting it in his favorite color, which I love also...just concerned about its versatility.
Maybe you could have the leopard cuffs removed and the coat converted into more of a three quarters length sleeve. You could get a lot of wear from it that way in autumn months or warmer winter days and wear with some longer leather gloves. I live in Northern California, so that type of thing works well here. I lived in London for half a year some time ago and think it could work there as well!
hi u should be able to get the leopard prints trims altered or replaced with another plain fabric, but still u can make it work, its a beautiful coat :)
Ah ha I love that whilst we may all admire the same items in reality items have to work for an individual. I love my M/L Chanel and my small classic flap bags but don't use my jumbo so much and also wish my small had a longer chain to wear cross body! I'm 5'8 tall...
Hi Amie, I really enjoy your videos, I think you always bring a really positive, bubbly energy, which makes the video fun to watch. And I think you and your bf are so cute together, hopefully you guys can do another video in the future :) Also, I was wondering, what do you think of the Balenciaga City? I know you said you sold yours, but do you think it's a good bag in terms of the quality/use? And is it a good bag in terms of keeping its value?
Seeing the Alma BB just broke my heart! :( I absolutely love that bag! if you ever decide to sell any of these please let your followers know! I'm sure there are many of us that would be interested! Great video!
Great video You should sell the ones u don't use n purchase items you love love and would always wear My next purchase will be the alma bb I'm dying to have her 😁
I've been looking for the right red shoulder bag for years (with a similar shape to the chanel; I can't afford a real one though 😜). I think it would look amazing with an all black outfit, red polish and red lipstick! Realistically however, like you, I don't wear as much black anymore (awkward teenage years over woop woop), but there are definitely complementary colours you could wear it with: a sky blue top especially an off the shoulder one 😋 (sky blue, navy goes really well with red) or even with a camel or tan trench coat. Try and have a look on pinterest and see how other girls have styled a red shoulder bag for more inspiration; it's definitely too pretty of a bag for the colour to put you off wearing it.
I've heard of some customers sending their Goyard bags back to the Paris store (the store even paid for shipping and everything) after sending them an email with their complaints and they put little leather patches on all 4 bottom corners where yours is tearing!
I love the look of the LV mini pochette but I sold mine because I couldn't figure out what to do with it since I already have a LV cosmetic bag. $300 for a kleenex holder seemed like such a waste to me. So cute when other people use them though....
if i were u, i may sell the Chanel Jumbo red & keep the small red instead. I think Jumbo is nicer in black but small chanel bag looks more fun & gorgeous in colors, just my opinion! xx
All the criticism you're getting on this video seems really unwarranted :( Too bad. I think it's informative to hear what you think for those who plan on buying designer items in the future.
i certainly agree with you. i feel she's one of the most well-spoken person ever on youtube. everything she shares are so informative and well-thought.
LOVE the idea of getting a luxury handbag or even a few but it's hard to think of the lambs that are killed so you can have a channel bag but when you think of them being skinned and killed to sit on your shelf makes it a lot more upsetting …
Love all of your Chanel bags! Hopefully you get to wear them out more. I just bought the mini pochette in monogram and I think it's pretty versatile! =)
Hi! Your Chanels will keep their values so you still made a nice investment! I'm thinking to either get a small le boy or a mini square, do you have any advice? Thanks!
Please keep your coat. I love Dolce&Gabbana. So I bought a coat with exact issue, it has Leopard collar, but I still love it. It’s very oversized. It’s classic, I used to wear it as I used to go places before having kids. Now it’s still in my wardrobe and I just love having it.
Oh Amie, I have the same CL shoes...I returned it eventually. I would wear them, standing in front of the mirror, looking at them for a long time. I love the look but it is impossible to walk. I have another pair paige from CL and it was also a failure. CL is a total representation of the two sides of fashion industry
Thanks for your video that you talk me out of the CL shoe. wanted a pair because all my friends have them, and I agree, I can't put on a pair of shoes to suffer in pain all night.
I too prefer the sq mini, but since I have a sq mini, I'm thinking of adding a rect mini in my collection. Just to add some variation to my collection. Yet I think the rect mini will be too long for me to wear on the shoulder. What's your thoughts Amie? Should I get another sq mini or rect mini? :P
