vinz Vv I've had it for two years stock. Haven't modded it at all. Love the car it's fun to drive and yeah it's decently fast for a reliable and convenient car
Man I love how much things you’ve done to your car compared to stock! And Honda’s are so reliable when it comes to all there vehicles including their off-road atvs or 4 wheelers! keep up the good work ryan🔥
We EX CVT folks need to stick together, ha! I got mine new back when it launched in 2017, and love the heck out of it. I actually used a manual when learning to drive, but I’ve always opted for automatics for my daily drivers. MT definitely becomes second nature, but it’s still one more thing your brain has to focus on. Uphill starts also suck. 😆 Anyway, I’m looking to get a KTuner 1.2 for it, holding off until my next paycheck ha. My concern though is the CVT… I’ve heard talk that it’s fragile and custom tunes can easily push it beyond its mechanical limits. 😕
jSyndeo Music Any engine should be able to put a little bit more torque without any issues. Manufacturers will always play it safe and not over torque anything. I’ve had mine tuned for a few months now with no issues and I usually keep it on the highest setting for psi and torque. I’d say if you were responsible enough to not overdo it you should be good!
Its just rumours started by people who have never driven or tried to tune a cvt. The cvts handle the tunes very well and out perform manuals in alot of ways. Infact most of the time you hear about issues with tuning etc its with the SI’s.
@@tylerb4994 Yeah, to update, I did get a KTuner a bit after that comment. I got it from Two Step Performance so that I’d get TSP Stage 1 along with it. I usually leave it in mode 1, but sometimes I bump it up to 2 for some extra power. It’s lots of fun! I’m a bit wary of going into 3 though… now that I think it’ll cause some sudden failure, but because I don’t want to get used to it and want more. I like always knowing that there is a little bit more power available than what I’m using. (As well as not having as much wear!)
I’ve have a 2017 Civic Hatchback EX (not sport, like bare bones base model) and I can answer modding questions and how the car acts when modded. I currently have: 3”catless downpipe, 3”front pipe (stock exhaust), afe CAI, Boomba throttle body spacer, Hondata with a Flex Fuel Tune, Siri Moro Front Strut Bar, and a Boomba engine mount!
It’s been tuned for over 35,000 miles and has had Flex Fuel on it for over 5,000 miles. It currently has 71,000 miles on the vehicle. I do find myself having to drive it a particular way when spirited driving is occurring.
@Certified G well Hondata doesn’t have “stages” listed on their basemap tunes. So how would I know what “stage” I’m using? I’ve seen people say “I have a stage 2 KTuner” but to me that’s the dummest way of classifying parts or whatever. And hey just because I don’t know what dumb “stage” I’m using doesn’t mean I can’t offer helpful information about how the CVT drives after thousands of miles and certain jitters and snags it runs into.
Okay, so the tune is cool. That's the only mod. A CVT will hold against some major mods, and a tune with stock parts will help make it feel fun. BUT... If you're serious about making power, a real cold air intake, the kind that goes under the car, is a better option. It won't add much power, but better air flow is better air flow. And anything in your engine bay that sucks air is only hurting your power. A PRL downpipe will help. A blow off valve adapter paired with a HKS or equivalent BOV is good. A performance intercooler, because the stock one gets super heat soaked. A big turbo kit from PRL will bring it round, and getting a Ktuner (V1 or V2) will be needed. Then get a real tune. Idk, not a fan of exterior stuff. Car looks mostly fine stock. Maybe lowering springs? Coilovers could help but anything you do suspension wise is gonna need extra hardware to eliminate heavy camber and such. Cool video though, glad you're enjoying your cosmetic stuff. Doesn't look insanely flashy!
Looks good. I have a white 19 Hatch EX. Purchased it 9/2019 and only have 8500 miles on so far (you know, covid) and the chipping and staining just from in town driving is ridiculous, beyond acceptable really.
@@GBrad18 Nope, in town driving with 17k on it now. Paint still is weak. The first time I washed it, 3 days after I got it, the paint came off the back hatch where the emblem is, dealer had to replace it. Shotty paint job.
I’m lookin to get a civic 1.5t cvt, I don’t really wanna daily a manual so I’m not interested in the si, but I’m just lookin at other 10th gen civics on the internet and see what ppl done with them:)
Go with the SI. I came from a 2017 lx cvt and my god I’ve never looked back. The si is significantly better in terms of performance and daily driveability is so smooth even with full bolt ons and a tune.
Love the car video, I have a 2018 civic hatchback sport manual and I have also experienced fade of the arm rest, I’m gonna clean it once and buy some fake leather off of Amazon to protect it and spice up the car a bit, thanks for ur video!
I honestly am pretty bored driving this thing so I wanna get some inspiration to begin getting my hands dirty with something mechanical. Hoping to buy some parts soon. No better way to learn than hands on.
Saving the video & checking out the honda hacks later. You car is nice man I have the same model & I’m looking for upgrades for it. I’m thinking of starting with a cold air intake & k tuner but don’t know what I’m looking for in brands & stuff. I was worried automatics couldn’t be upgraded but I guess they can, btw I don’t know much about cars. Anyways sick video & maybe I’ll make one as well once I get it looking nice. 👌
Do the shift paddles is actually very fun to drive it like that...the sounds are awsome with a new exhaust and cold air intake. Next is the blow off valve
I own the 2019 Hatch EX and do agree the paint that Honda uses sucks. I got small paint chips on mines and I had to put some type of protection in there. Also I tried to find one in a manual but the dealer where I got mines didn’t have them. I installed LEDs on my headlights and fog lights and planning to do the air intake swap next with the Ktuner or throw a under lip spoiler what HFP has and tint the windows
I don't drive a CVT but a CVT transmission will always ship faster than anything because it technically does not shift it is a variable transmission they use them on airplanes all the turboprop fighter planes were CBT. CVTs are fine people just don't like them because they're new and they don't understand physics. And I guess the whole reputation I got when Nissan first brought them out.
@@camarena2332 I also have Prl cobra intake, prl inlet turbo pipe, prl intercooler and charge pipes, prl front and down pipe following my transmission going out. The car feels amazing and runs better with the supporting mods for the tune.
@@phillip_83yt24 with the red side skirts and front lip and body being black. In Australia there is 228 limited edition ‘red pack’ civic’s and I have one. Just looks the exact same haha
erockz69 i actually got them from the dealer but i believe this is the correct one. Says it fits the hatchback. You can always order the oem leather ones but it’s kind of expensive. I’ve seen people say the ones for the Honda Insight are cheaper but i think it’s only for the coupe. There are leather covers you stick on with 3m so that may be the cheaper way but I’m not sold yet on them.
Antonio Mayen for sure! I would just look up on some forums to confirm fitment and options! Edit: it looks like they do not fit the hatch. Looks like sedans fit good but not sure about coupe
@@Ryansneaks The insight ones fit the hatchback. I did the center armrest with Insight. Door panels I did Civic they weren't too bad. I tried the overlays, they were fine for a fraction of the price, but the Insight ones are legit.
your build is awesome, i recently bought a 2017 LX hatchback and want to do mods myself but i am unsure where to start, i want more fun when driving as well as performance. any tips??
Hows the CVT, I got a 2.0 liter without the manual since It's hard to find one out there new or used, plus I never driven stick and theres ode traffic where I live 😭👎🏽 The only thing I don't like about manuals in newer cars are the rev hangs 💀🤦🏽♂️
yr car lit, man .. just wanna know where u get those side skirt and diffuser ,those look perfect to me cos i have been looking them up on eBay for days but most of them look too extensive... pls let me know ..
@@Ryansneaks they are the same. They are used interchangeably by different companies. I bet everytime a girl gets on your car she wants to vibe with the music and pop that moonroof open haha
About to get myself one of these bad boys. Ashamed to admit I havent driven a manual before. I also hear that the manual isnt the best on the civic sport. Can you do performance enhancement changes like the cold air intake on the CVT Automatic?
@@sea5023 nah, been running ktuner stage 2 and phearable 1.5 , it's fine but although I read on a forum that sedan and coupe cvt are stronger than hatch, idk if thats true but my touring coupe is doing great
I was on the market for a fun, and reliable daily hatchback, it was between the 2018 Civic and the 3 . When I drove the Civic it felt like a good car to drive, it has better mpg, slightly bigger rear and cargo space, and faster acceleration. When I drove the 3 it just felt more fun to drive, it handled way better than the Civic, it was more sporty, felt more connected with the car, balance with power with weight ratio and the interior was of a more better quality. I went with the NA engine of the 3, because on the long run any forced induction on a car makes it less reliable. I find the 3 to be a better looking car, but is subjective. The thing that really got me not to about get the Civic was the CVT transmission, it just feels weird, I didn't sense no connection with the car.
I've raced a lot of 3's in the mountains and they always seems to lack on the handling. The Honda FK7 is a great platform and is extremely reliable for a Turbo 4. 60k miles one mine with zero issues.
With the exhaust, is it just the muffler delete and tips or did you get anything else done to the exhaust? Didn't expect that basey noise to come just from the muffler delete...
Where'd you get that little red piece under your rear bumper next to your tips? Im doing the same thing as you, but I can't find that product anywhere.
This is mine here www.collegehillshonda.com/product/08F01-TEA-182.html If you search the part number you may be able to find it cheaper on other sites. Just keep in mind it won’t fit the sport or sport touring due to their factory lip
Hey man do you still own this car, how’s it going? I have a 2019 EX sedan, my mods so far are 20% tints, blacked out emblems, Invidia N1 exhuast, and some miscellaneous interior mods. I plan on getting a Ktuner soon, not sure if I wanna go Phearable stage 1.5 or TSP.
There was actually a paint recall on the 2018 and 2019 civics. That may be why the quality of the paint is poor. Check with the dealership to see if you can get the car repainted in the affected areas.
@@Ryansneaks I just bought a 2021 and I've only put 50 miles on it. I'm hoping I don't have any issues anytime soon. But I drive my motorcycle for a majority of the year, until it's 40 degrees or lower, so it won't be getting a ton of wear and tear.
@@tyweeks92 it’s been great for the 3 years I’ve had it. Was planning to trade in for a wrangler soon and i think the ac going out is the sign that it’s time
@@Ryansneaks just traded my wrangler for the civic. The wrangler is nice, but I just wanted something I could drive into the city and on trips that I can actually fit in a parking garage and stuff.
Love your video man. Do you put unleaded gas or premium? I’m getting a 2018 hatchback ex soon and trying to find out the best gas option for it considering it has sports mode.
i have the sport and it’s waaaaaay better with paddles trust, apple car play is cool n all but definitely not worth it compared to the sport, at least for the 2018 hatches
Nice I have the same Han Solo dice in my car! Also I have a question, did the tune void your warranty? I want to be able to make my car a little faster but of course I wouldn’t want to mess up my warranty
It will void the engine from my understanding. Anything to happen to the car will have to be proved that the tune did not have a role. I’ve been using it still and no issues. I plan on doing a updated vid at 50k which is coming up
I have taken my 2017 to the dealer 14 times in 3 years for warranty. I actually drove rentals most of the first year. Corporate refused to stand by the satisfaction garrentee and told me to get a lawyer. I didn't qualify for the lemon law in my state because they have to have 3 failed repairs on the same part and they never could duplicate when testing. There now multiple class action lawsuits on hondas made 2016 to 2018 for knowing their was a problem and told dealers to return cars back to owners and say there was nothing wrong without investing
Where did you buy the bottom lips I’ve been looking everywhere and I can’t seem to find the name. I like how on your car is wraps all around the bottom.
