That's a fresh setup. I have been looking at the exact setup for awhile now but didn't think the lifan 125cc motor was going to work out. How did you mount it? Can you give me some pointer on the setup. Thanks bro. Keep up the good work. Late
I usually see motorized bicycles that are butcher jobs that are just kludged together with excessivly long forks and lots of bling and think to myself "f'ing moron", but your bike is not just well thought out and functional, it is a work of art. Reguardless of what others think, the fuel tank sets the bike off perfectly.
First time I ever saw a handlebar gas tank. Nice! I HATE those stupid kit tanks with the big tab around the center of the tank. I was trying to find a mini bike tank that would work. Last night I discovered overflow tanks. They look like a metal thermos bottle. I love that look. Problem is they all have caps on the ends instead of in the center like this one. If anyone knows where I can get a 1.5 to 2 liter cylindrical tank with a cap in the center let me know. Basically this tank but smaller so I can put it on the tube where a gas tank would normally go. This handlebar look is very cool too!
Just think they make a big bore kit for those little engines that I believe goes to 150cc. Keep the oil checked and use good oil and they will take a lot of rough use. Trust me I know I had a little crotch rocket with 110cc on it. It was 4 speed with a clutch and I was rougher on it than the guy on Craigslist I bought it from. Paid about 125 for it I think and after a little repair here and there I had about 150 in it. On or off road I didn't care that thing was a blast and it ran fine when I got rid of it. I used Honda oil in mine and it done great. If you can find one that runs good cheap then I'd say buy it. Once you have enough fun you can put it on a bike and not have to pay a fortune for a kit. About all you would need is a good gas tank, a longer chain, the rear sprocket assembly and mod the exaust and intake and make some mounts for the engine and your in business. Better upgrade the brakes though or things might go bad real quick and remember it's a bike not a motorcycle so don't push your luck or you might be sorry you did.
Very Nice bike build man I am building one just like this. How is that exhaust doing for you btw? I noticed you have a different exhaust tip for heat resistance is what I was looking for being the same issue with mine for how close the exhaust is to the tire lol
Strange how after the first motorcycle (steam) in 1849 and the first alchol fueled motorcycle in 1883, folks have gone back to the motorcycle design features of the 1890's to 1920's...... progress?? At least the brakes work.
I need to pop one off wheelchair accessible Im thinking run a tube thru the crank case on the frame and weld it to another frame and put a plate on the bottom. Then weld two front fork plated to turn it into a trike. Im wondering if the one motor would be powerful enough for the extra weight. I could run most of the weight in the back to relieive some weight off the front tube. Or if I would need another motor and have it be a real frankenstein. but really cool. Can you change the gearing? I am really going to do this. If it looks cool and runs anywhere close to what yours does lost of my wheelie friends will want to rush on these.
The only thing keeping us from legalizing these bikes, is a vin number. If someone would set up a website so that we could petition Huffy Corp. to put vin numbers on their men's beach cruiser. They are good frames. I have used one for 4 years and not one weld has broken.
Wow what an amazing bike dude! Nice job! What are you using to mount the back sprocket? Hub adaptor? If so how did you get it through all the spokes? Thats what im facing on mine with the same frame. Please and Thank You...
Awesome! One of the best looking motorized bikes I've seen so far. My question is...where does One get one of those Lifan engines (which, by the way, sounds GREAT with that muffler!) and what kind of front suspension are you using?
In Nevada if you'd like to register it you'd use the number under the pedals. Or they would issue you one if you'd like. But you just follow the speed limit and say it's a 49cc and they'll leave you alone.
Last summer there was a wave of motorized bikes here in central Illinois. This spring they're all gone. I think maybe this had something to do with it. Insurance and registration. Somehow I bet they do it like the canoe paddle-pass. You get a sticker that fades in the sun and goes blank after two or three days. herald-review.com/news/local/motorized-bicycles-sometimes-cross-moped-line-police-say/article_2504c8b0-2956-599a-b44c-4fc4fef2a6a6.html
I just put a Lifan 125cc in a 2002 Honda XR70 and used their wiring diagram exactly like it says and it won't start. My XR70 has 3 wires coming from the coil and 1 is a green wire connected to ground right above the air filter on the frame, but the lifan coil only has two wires, a black and red and a green and are in a connector that plugs into a connector on the CDI box but no ground attached to the frame. Then their schematic says to plug the Blue and white wire and the Black and red wire coming from the engine Magneto to same color on CDI box. Then Kill switch Black and white and green to same color wires on CDI Box. I did all this and it won't start. Shouldn't their be a ground wire attached to the frame? Thanks
im putint my 2nd one together right now a stretch cruiser.. you have a bike crew or you just ride for fun? i live right net to culver city i know where that spot is lol
How did you extend the pedals out. Please inbox me with instructions. I have a 99cc with pedals removed. I would like to install if i could extend the spindle
Too bad there isn't a company that thinks like you do. PRACTICAL. You have large tires for potholes. ( Correct me, but I'm a bit skeptical of the bicycle frame.) The bike you drive obviously does not labor to get up to speed either. (I drove just a lot of 125 cc engines and they have no power.) You must have doing close to 60 mph at the end of the film and having no problem passing cars. Most scooters that they sell now are a joke - no accelleration! The only thing I don't like is the fuel tank in the front - bad location. Maybe get a hold of a racing fuel cell tank for safety??
Yea, I feel you... The more I watched the vid, I think I would've attempted a one off fiberglass tank myself. Nevertheless, I want one!!!! Dude has a sweet setup!
No problem sepi. I only know it cause I was looking up the laws in my state and that's the only thing that separates a motorized bike and a scooter in my state. Plus in some states with out the pedels you would have to have a motorcycle license to drive it. But with the pedels you only have to regester it and have ins and a regular drivers license
im calling bs lol in cali 4hp is the limit 20 mph to be considered a bike with a licese plate and helmet andthing over 30 and 4hp you have to get a moped license lights head light safety check etc... aso this bike aint legal just a matter of time before some cop impounds it or gives you a ticket
60mph & 125cc is hardly considered a moped especially if it's got a semi auto transmission with gears. It's registered as a moped sure but it wouldn't be a legal moped. This guy can expect a stern talking to & tickets to flow if hes ever pulled over by the cops on it.
Clearanceman2 I don't know if a frame has to be DOT in my state because a friend of mine was able to register his 150cc custom bike as a motorcycle & the frame was completely custom welded by him. He just dropped in a 150cc scooter engine to keep the bike lightweight & have plenty of power to keep up with traffic.
Joe Might be different for customs and I'm sure each state is different. Here the DMV told me, has to have a DOT sticker if I bought it. I was asking about 49CC mopeds being exempt and they said they had to be DOT approved or they couldn't be on the road 49cc or not. But I think if you make something it's different, you might have to get it approved and some states might not require anything.
