3: Kung Lao VS Crane (Mortal Kombat VS Kung Fu Panda) For anyone confused about this matchup being so high, let me show you the connections Two kung fu warriors with hats that they can and have used as razor frisbee weapons, both have attacks that use wind techniques, both know one of the animal styles of kung fu (Kung Lao knows mantis style and Crane knows crane style), both were trained by two masters (Raiden and Bo’ Rai Cho for Kung Lao and Shifu and Po for Crane), both have lots of confidence in themselves, both are constantly mocked and belittled by other characters in their worlds, both friend and foe (Kung Lao is always compared to Liu Kang and is always stated to be the weaker of the two, and Crane was always thought to be weak and fragile because of his skinny frame, even by his own mother), both attended kung fu academies where they befriended the best students there (Liu Kang and Mei Ling), both are friends with the chosen one/dragon warrior who can make dragon constructs with their powers (Liu Kang and Po), both of them are dedicated to their families and want to prove themselves in a way that benefits their families (Kung Lao wants to live up to the legacy of his ancestor the Great Kung Lao, and also wants to end the homophobia towards his cousin/nephew Kung Jin, and Crane wants to prove to his mother that he’s not weak and fragile, but also wants to prioritise her health as she kept on having dangerous heart palpitations whenever she caught him doing anything related to Kung Fu), and both were at some point in their stories turned into undead slaves by soul powered villains (Kung Lao was turned into a revenant by Quan Chi, and Crane was turned into a Jade Zombie by Kai) We know that Liu Kang will be on the show eventually and when he does appear it’ll be no surprise he will fight Jago, we get it, so let’s talk about the other Shaolin Monk in Mortal Kombat, who doesn’t have very many good matchups and doesn’t get all that much attention, I’ve seen ideas thrown around for him but none of them seemed appealing to me, I’ve seen Ken Masters from Street Fighter, Captain America from Marvel Comics, Caesar Zeppeli from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure and Ma Chao from Dynasty Warriors, but none of them seemed overly groundbreaking to me, then I saw a suggestion for Crane from Kung Fu Panda and thought about it for only a few seconds before deciding “Yes, This is The One”, there are even some differences that make this fight more interesting, while both are confident, Kung Lao is Cocky and Arrogant while Crane is Shy and Bashful, Crane being a bird means he can obviously fly and attack from above, but Kung Lao can teleport through the ground and attack from below, Kung Lao is from a violent fighting game while Crane is from a child friendly animated movie, don’t know who wins, could go either way 2: Storm Hawks VS Battle Force 5 (Spinmaster VS Hot Wheels) For those who are not familiar with these shows, allow me to educate you Two teams of heroes who save the world/multiverse with weaponised vehicles, each team has 6 members (Storm Hawks: Aerrow, Finn, Junko, Piper, Stork and Radarr / Battle Force 5: Vert, Zoom, Agura, Sherman, Spinner and Stanford), 5 main regular sized vehicles (Storm Hawks: Aerrow, Finn and Junko have their 3 Skimmers while Radarr rides in Aerrows Sidecar, Piper has a Heli-Scooter, and Stork has the Stork Mobile / Battle Force 5: Vert drives the Saber, Zoom rides the Chopper, Agura drives the Tangler, Sherman & Spinner operate the Buster, and Stanford drives the Reverb), and 1 giant mobile battle station vehicle (Storm Hawks: The Condor / Battle Force 5: The Mobius Command Centre (The Mobi for short)), both shows were on Cartoon Network but got cancelled before they got their final seasons, both had a total of 52 episodes in total, both team leaders are colour coded red, use blades weapons for melee combat, and were given their life changing missions by strangers they just met while under attack from villains, after the supposed falls of their fathers (Aerrow and Vert respectively), both teams have only 1 female member who is black skinned and is the secondary leader if their main leader is unavailable (Piper and Agura respectively), both teams have a big muscular member who can sometimes be rather childish but one of them breaks the stereotype of big dumb brute as he is actually very smart, and the other at least tries to (Junko and Sherman respectively), both have a member who has a particular taste in music, was treated as a deity in one location in their world/multiverse, wants to be a ladies man but fails and are master sharpshooters with ranged weapons on their vehicles (Finn and Stanford respectively), both teams have a member who are fierce hand to hand fighters, one is a natural martial artist and the other only fights menacingly when he’s angry, and stands out for their choice in vehicles, one has a car in a team of bikes and the other has a bike in a team of cars (Stork and Zoom respectively), the final members of both teams are the smallest and physically weakest members who don’t drive a vehicle themselves and instead tag along with one of the others and controls their weapons and gadgets (Radarr and Spinner respectively) and both teams have 4 main hand to hand fighters while the other 2 don’t get out in the field themselves all that much and are usually only fighting in their main vehicles (Aerrow, Finn, Junko and Piper are the main fighters for the Storm Hawks and Vert, Zoom, Agura and Sherman are the main fighters for the Battle Force 5) Two shows forgotten to time that I think deserves to be brought back into the spotlight, I could imagine this fight being set like a race, in fact this could be both a Death Battle and a Death Race potentially, the Storm Hawks on their Sky Rides and the Battle Force 5 in their Battle Force Vehicles racing through a canyon, fighting along the way, at some point Stork gets wiped out but later returns flying the Condor, then one of the Battle Force 5 gets to the end and finds the Mobius Command Centre, and then both teams regroup for one big showdown, I took a page out of Redrunner’s book and am watching through the entire Storm Hawks and Battle Force 5 series, taking note of every feat, weapon, ability, skill, etc that they have and trying to come up with a verdict, so far the Battle Force 5 have the stronger and tougher vehicles despite the Storm Hawks having Ariel advantage but the Storm Hawks will then absolutely decimate them in hand to hand combat

1: Hiccup & Toothless VS Hiro & Baymax (How to Train your Dragon VS Big Hero 6) My absolute most wanted number 1 matchup ever, I want this one as badly as Y0UR0NLYMATE wanted Blake VS Mikasa, How to Train your Dragon is my absolute favourite movie ever, and ever since Big Hero 6 first came out in cinemas I’ve been comparing the two movies nonstop, and have been doing research on this ever since, here are the connections Hiccup and Hiro are both genius inventors (for their time periods) who are awkward, geeky, nerdy, and started out constantly getting into trouble, after one particular incident and being scolded by their only parent/guardian (Hiccup’s father Stoick and Hiro’s aunt Cass), they meet they’re future best friends to be (Toothless and Baymax), which when they did meet, one of the two was hurt at the time and the other tried to help them (when Hiccup met Toothless, Toothless was tangled in a bola trap which had cut off his left tail fin, so Hiccup set him free and built him a prosthetic, and when Hiro met Baymax, Tadashi had placed duck tape on Hiro’s right forearm and then painfully ripped it off so that Hiro would say “Ow”, which is the passcode to activate Baymax), they would also gain a ragtag group of human friends with rather peculiar names with only one exception (Hiccup would befriend Fishlegs, Snotlout, Ruffnut, Tuffnut and Astrid, and Hiro would befriend Gogo, Wasabi, Honey Lemon and Fred (conveniently Tuffnut and Fred were both voiced by TJ Miller)), and after befriending them and bonding with them, they would eventually invent a way for Toothless and Baymax to fly, Hiccup and Hiro would then ride on their backs and go on many adventures with, they both were accepted at a school/university for a very ambitious education (Hiccup was accepted into Dragon Training to learn to fight Dragons, and Hiro was accepted at the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology/SFIT to learn how to push the boundaries of science and robotics), but most of their more productive work would be done outside of this education because they had made a revelation that they were determined to delve further into, seeking the truth (Hiccup discovered that Dragons may not be the monsters that the Vikings of Berk thought they were, and Hiro discovered that the death of his brother Tadashi wasn’t an accident and was determined to find out who killed him), both of them grew up without their Mothers (Hiccup’s mother Valka had been carried off by a Stormcutter Dragon and was presumed dead, and both of Hiro’s parents died when he was only 3 years old), both of them also had a family member die in an explosive incident when they were trying to save someone (Hiccup’s father Stoick died pushing Hiccup out of the way of Toothless’s Plasma Blast when Toothless was mind controlled, and Hiro’s brother Tadashi died trying to save Professor Callahan from the science fair when it was set on fire), both of them get a thrill from flying with Toothless and Baymax. Toothless and Baymax both were forced by commands to kill someone against their will, but fortunately both of the intended targets survived due to someone’s interference (Toothless was mind controlled by Drago’s Bewilderbeast and ordered to kill Hiccup, but Stoick pushed him out of the way, saving Hiccup’s life and taking the blast himself, and Baymax had his healthcare card removed from his access port by Hiro, leaving only his combat card, and was ordered to kill Professor Callahan, but Gogo, Wasabi, Honey Lemon and Fred all held him back as best as they could until Honey Lemon put the Healthcare card back into Baymax’s access port, allowing Callahan to escape), both of them later gained the ability to prevent that from happening ever again (Toothless became the Alpha of Dragons and became immune to the Bewilderbeast’s mind control, and Baymax denied Hiro access to his healthcare and combat cards because he could detect Hiro’s intent to kill Callahan through his emotional state), both of them have powerful projectile attacks which have certain shot limits with and aim with incredible accuracy (Toothless has his Plasma Blasts, he has a shot limit of 6 but can adjust their firepower for more blasts and different blast effects and also recharged a lot quicker than most other dragons, and unless he’s fighting an equally fast and agile opponent, he will never miss, Baymax has his Rocket fists, he only has 2 but they’re programmed to return to his arms on his command, and he has a targeting computer that lets him shoot down three incoming enemies with jet packs in one shot), both can fly fast enough to break the sound barrier, they saved their human friends lives by shielding them with their own bodies at the end of their movies (Toothless shielded Hiccup from the explosion which killed the Red Death by covering him with his wings, Baymax shielded Hiro from a piece of Krei-Tech Debris floating through the portal dimension that heavily damaged his suit and rendered his thrusters inoperable) Hell, even their test flight scenes from their movies have numerous similarities Both start off with Hiccup and Hiro telling Toothless and Baymax to take it slow (Hiccup: “okay there bud, we’re gonna take this nice and slow” Hiro: “let’s just take this slow”), they then fly upwards into the sky until Hiccup and Hiro panics for different reasons and Toothless and Baymax misunderstand a command from them (Hiccup: “oh this is amazing, the wind in my-“ [drops his cheat sheet] “-CHEAT SHEET! STOOOOOOOP!” [Toothless stops] Hiro: “too much thrust, Too Much Thrust, TOO MUCH THRUST!” [Baymax turns off his thrusters]), which then causes them to fall out of the sky and cause Hiccup and Hiro to start babbling out commands in panic while they’re falling until they’ve corrected their mistake before they could plummet to their deaths, at some point during their flights they both bump into things by accident (Hiccup and Toothless bumped into a couple of sea stacks, which Toothless slapped Hiccup in the face with his ear for, and Hiro and Baymax bumped into the Golden Gate Bridge (the San Fransokyo version of it) before they came to a quick stop and landed on top of it), at some point during the flights they both skim over the surface of the ocean, they have fun for a while, and then finally they dodge round some obstacles before ending the flight by Hiccup and Hiro throwing their arms up into the air, and cheering themselves after the rush of adrenaline they’ve just felt and flying off into a blaze of glory (Hiccup: “YEEEEEEEEEEAH!” [Toothless shoots a plasma blast] “come on!” [Hiccup and Toothless fly through the fiery explosion it caused] Hiro: “YES! WAHOOO!” [Hiro and Baymax fly off into the sunset/sunrise]) I could just go on and on about the similarities here but you get the idea now right? Is it really any wonder why this matchup is my number 1 most wanted at this point? After all the time I’ve spent researching it, it would be criminal of me to put it any lower. I hope that if and when this fight does happen, it will be a mostly Ariel battle with beautiful flying scenes and an adventurous sounding soundtrack that fits the styles of both their movies, I’ve heard synth + bagpipes being played together before and I think it could really work well, especially being played in a score that has the majestic news of “Tempest Blitz” by Brandon Yates, and the epic news of “Mighty” also by Therewolf Media AND Brandon Yates, and if they could fit vocals into it that sound somewhat like the soundtracks to both HTTYD and Big Hero 6 (particularly “Where No-one Goes” by John Powell and “Immortals” by Fall Out Boy) that would just be the cherry on top for me I know I’m setting the bar pretty high for that last matchup, but I’m just very passionate about this fight, and I have every faith that DB will knock it out of the park

That's one hell of a fight because both of them are Neanderthals, but when it comes to durability, pickle takes that one because not even. Bullets can penetrate or hurt him, and he is strong enough to take on a modernized Japanese militia. Spear was able to bleed, and was badly cut by weapons from the B.C. which are not as advanced as the one Pickel took head on.

I understand and can see how concerns like that can push people away for certain matchups, but that’s never really been something I care about when it comes to matchups I look like, or at the very least isn’t the deciding factor. The main thing I look for is thematic connections and animation potential, which is why matchups like Soldier 76 vs Mr Incredible and Mario vs Mickey are up so high. Obviously in the nature of vs matchups one character is going to win over the other, so I don’t think how badly someone wins should be a key thing in deciding what makes a matchup good or not. At least to me.

@@emeraldgrove2442 well for me thematics and animation potential are good, but the debate is a key factor to. For me for a good matchup it needs to balance all three. If it only has two of the three the matchup is lacking something. Like let's say a battle has good animation potential and is debatable, but no thematics. It's a weird matchup. Now no animation potential ,but it's debatable and thematic. The animation is boring and predictable. Now no debate. The main point of the show is gone since its obvious who wins, especially if a character's series has been on before like Luigi.
