I finally unboxed my maker 3 and will be following your tips I spent the last 3 months trying to decide what to practice on ill have to go check my local hardware store for those aluminum sheets.
Your tip to duplicate for deeper engraving has been so helpful. Previously when finished with the 1st cut and my mat stopped I would run again a couple time and when the mat goes back & forth it some times shifts a tiny bit enough to ruin small type. Thank you, 😊

Cool!!!! Since I made the video I’ve started using flashing for all kinds of engraving projects. Here’s an example. Julia Snider absolutely!!! And I just figured out last week that I can buy rolls of the flashing at the hardware store and cut it into sheets with my little Tonic guillotine paper cutter that I had for scrapbooking. It’s SO slick!!! ❤️ Or you can buy the sheets pre-cut in a package as well. I’ve been writing a book on engraving and have gone down some pretty deep rabbit holes but this was an awesome discovery!

I’m loving this! New to Cricut here, so not sure what all I could engrave, would it be possible to engrave on an old handsaw? It’s not thick at all. I’ve removed the handle, it’s no thicker than a piece of acrylic or maybe like 3 heavy card stock pages stacked. I have the explore air2.
I especially liked the tip to duplicate them and stack them so the machine can cut them all at once on the same spot! Thank you! One question though, I find that when I engrave the engraved part is kinda rough to the touch. Is there a way to smooth that out? (Without scratching the whole thing)
Yes! Using a nail buffing block works well. Be careful to go just across the top. But if you do scratch the surface a little you can usually buff it out. Thanks for leaving a comment! Hello, this is a bit off topic of the information in your video. I am having a problem with the engraving tool. Every time i try to use it, design space says that it can not detect it. Would you happen to know why this is happening?
