I love that bubble window 61 that’s the best year then 59/62/64 /63 I have my love for a old impala can’t go wrong when cleaned up on nice spoke wheels

Have to try and use as much as the stock dash as you possibly can! 😉. I have the upmost respect for everyone doing these cars and understand due to age, condition, sitting around outside in the weather and so on that you have to switch frames and do what is necessary to get it to be put back to a driving and useable condition. Putting a new chassis underneath the car is a said given due to the condition of the original one and the floors. Hopefully you are able to get the Caprice one underneath it like you said in-between vehicles so you are able to get it back to rolling condition and ready to get some flooring and tubs I think that you stated you wanted to do. I will wish you the best and I hope that you are able to use as much as possible of the stock dash and steering column with some supplement gages to keep tabs on your new 5.3L turbo power plant in the car. I will wish you the best of luck and progress with your build and I think that it will be a great car when finished. Too bad you didn't have the top of the line drive train from the day around to put back in the car with your upgrades. Check out Fitzee's fabrication for how to shorten axle tubes on rear ends [he has a great one for a Ford 9 inch he shortened for a drag car he's building [Crusty is the playlist for that car]. Love the 61 with the Nasa, spaxe race inspired thang :-) Impala bubble tops own that year [GM and Ford owned the early 60's]. Well worth the effort. . Ever think of using a early 90's Buick Roadmaster or that era of Buick with the LT1 motor in them. You can build a water and smegma damn to keep the road filth from hitting those nose corners. Sandblastter on an angle with beads to knock all the paint and rust off before welding some patches on :) So worth saving them. 61 is a beaut of a year for the Chev's [next to the tri five era it's a great couple of years in the early 60's]. Seet build sir. Love to see it. Do some tripod time lapse stuff while knock'n the crap off of your Gem :-) Ya new wire harness. Rock auto speedway harnesses and yada yada :-))

What are you doing with the wiring? Are you running an aftermarket wiring harness? I am trying to do something similar with a 2006 Cadillac STS but the wiring is going to be a huge hurdle.

It would of been less work to just fix the car and a lot better car in the end.

Where are you located? I have a hood and fenders in good shape I'll have to look but I think my dad metal worked the fenders (straightened with no filler) but I want to say he didn't touch the hood though.
