Another vid in which I talk about and noodle around on one of my guitars. This time, it's the turn of my '66 Mustang. Recorded through a Vox AC30. Various effects pedals used. The weird stuff is a Line 6 Filter Modeller.

Pickup winding was very inconsistent back in those days. A set of good repro pickups would do a dull sounding Mustang good. Many brands make good vintage Mustang pickups. I feel Mustangs and AC30's are synonymous.

This was my first electric guitar. I played it through a Fender Bassman 2-Channel 50-Watt 2x12" Piggyback Guitar Amp 1964 - 1966. What sounds! Wish I had kept that rig. Great to see this nice vid! Love your lessons too! You're a great teacher!

I bought a Squier Bullet FSR Mustang last month and i think they made a mistake at the factory. It has sustain for days. Even unplugged it's really loud and resonant. It just sounds way too good for 150 dollars. There are several qa issues with it such as sharp fret ends and a finish bubble on the back, but it sounds amazing. Especially the dual humbucker setup. It's fat sounding. And twangy when you want it. It's like a sleeper metal guitar and a sleeper country guitar at the same time.
@Vitaconfide
@Vitaconfide Год назад
I second that. The unplugged sound is really great.
@squirtcobain477
@squirtcobain477 Год назад
Get some fret work done for like $60 bucks and you should be good. As for the bubble, you have two options, get it fixed for cheap or just relic it over time because that adds ✨character✨.
@moustachio334
@moustachio334 10 месяцев назад
No modern guitar should leave the factory with sharp frets. I would've wasted $150 and smashed it to bits if it were me. I can't remember the last time I played a cheap guitar with sharp frets but I've never played Squiers.

I'm an oldster, age 70. I remember around 1968, I and some friends dropped in on another guy who played guitar. I recall sitting on his bed in his room and lying on the bed was a new copy of Cream's "Disraeli Gears" and a red Fender Mustang. I was envious as I couldn't afford a Mustang.

Not sure how long it's been in the picture but very glad to see you with an AC30! The AC30C2 is one of my most favorite amps, is my #1 amp for shows, and has sent all of my vintage blackface and brownface Fenders packing. It's bested many boutique amps, at least for me and my tonal desires, including my Z-Wreck that is long-gone due to this box of chime. In fact, I even prefer the AC30C2 over my 1964 AC30TB! Even better than the real thing, imho! My '91 "Vintage" model AC30TB is the only amp that tops it, and only by a hair. They sound nearly identical.

The 24 inch scale means a stretch between frets 1 - 5 (f to a) is about 8mm less than on a 25.5 inch guitar. I can play for much longer and not get hand pain. Strings are looser, so a wholetone bend on the g string at 12th fret is 15% less force (using 009-042). I'm using a much cheaper squier bullet mustang. It has humbuckers, belly cut, arm chamfer, no tremolo.
@ineedstuff8286
@ineedstuff8286 3 года назад
I like this guy's tremolo style... some people do deeper and faster tempo "tremolo" stuff, but I like the shallower undulations like this guy did. It's a hypnotizing effect, and it's beautiful... I bought a used Vintera 60's Mustang, and it's on it's way; however, guy lost the trem...

Johnny Winter played Mustangs for most of his early career as far as electric goes. Most old videos you will find playing Fender Mustang like the one your playing and the same color. I want one and there are not a lot out there right now aside of a bunch of money for a vintage Fender like yours and that is out of the question. I already have my jewel in the case. It's not Fender or Gibson either and it has gone up value by at least 500% since I bought in new in 1980. Served me well when I was active but that guitar will never see a bar room again. Not a dirty bar anyway. I paid 1100 for it and it's hitting 5 digits today and they are not made anymore like a 1966 Fender Mustang. Fender is selling theri CV models from their website at 100 less than their retailers are and their retailers have no stock anymore. I;m going to grab one.

Beautiful guitar, Adrian! But you were a bit remiss in not identifying the riff you played, "Guiding Light" by the massively influential (and criminally overlooked) guitar band Television. How about a lesson for Messrs. Verlaine and Lloyd? You probably don't have an hour and 20 minutes to go over "Marquee Moon", so how about "See No Evil" or Friction"? You're the best!! Learned a few Joy Division and Happy Mondays songs thanks to you!!! Lower the cigar bar, check the nut, and use heavy gauge strings
@caiusmadison2996
@caiusmadison2996 4 года назад
Also, make sure the cigar is actully connected by both springs on the same rung level on the posts. You can also utilize a needle file to resharpen the pivots the posts of the cigar are moving on, which is often why it will not move properly. Push comes to shove, retire the old bridge in a sfe spot, and get a new one to replace it.
