The vintage obviously has that little extra secret sauce but I’m impressed with how good the vintera sounds, especially when you say it feels good in the hand too. Neat little guitar

I won’t lie. When I realized Fender had snuck a vintage-ish correct Mustang in Capri Orange under my radar I snagged one that night. I feel like I spent years in Mustang limbo waiting for one of these. Never wanting to gamble the cash on a vintage guitar and having never been quite happy with the Squiers.

So how ya feeling now? You got the vintera 2? Competition orange? Or Capri? I love my mustang bullet I got right when they came out.got the rosewood which I love over laurel. But I def wanna get a fender,as I have 6 squiers. I just want a high quality mustang

@@Lalairu I just bought a Vintera 2 mustang burgundy w/ rosewood fingerboard. It is very nice my only complaint is the tuners look cheap but it stays in tune out of the box. Have not done a set up yet . I also wish they painted the headstock to match. Sounds good as well. Some point I’ll be changing pups to tone hatch a2/a5 set.

When is Fender going to make fhe Eric Haugen signature copy of your '66 Mustang? (It would go great with my JMJ signature '66 Mustang bass!!)

Not sure if you've tried this, but you can probably lower the upper pickup screw on your '66 so you can get less volume from the low E string. Might affect the A string slightly but at least it's worth a try. Good video as always man.
@AndreaAustoni
@AndreaAustoni 11 месяцев назад
The problem is a flat pickup and a curved fretboard. The low E is the loudest wound string and the closest to the pickup so it's very loud, whereas the A and D get progressively smaller and farther from the pickup, therefore quieter. The pole pieces should be staggered like in a Start. Jazzmasters have the same issue. This particular Mustang has the 7.25" radius so the volume imbalance is magnified.
@robertbecker6903
@robertbecker6903 11 месяцев назад
Well, as much as this sounds logical, but the first Broadcasters/Esquires/Teles should have the same problem then. However, I never heard anybody complain about this. And just to put it straight: this is not meant to be like the typical „Tele-glorification“/„Tele is the best“- bashing. My favourite guitar is a Jazzmaster! Although I do have a Tele too😅 I just wanted to question: is this really the reason for this problem? Maybe it is a problem on some guitars and on other guitars it is neglect-able? I don’t know. I find it interesting though. Peace and love to all of you, and once again, Eric, thank you for your work! Great video as always👍

Mustangs remind me of Danelectros/Silvertones with their low output lipsticks - no pedals or a clean amp they don't seem very exciting but throw in some effects or into a Plexi or dirty tweed and they're amazing. Heartbroken that I had to sell my '65 Mustang at the start of the pandemic for less than half of what I could buy it back for now. If I ever find a need for another guitar aside from my Jazzmaster, the Vintera Mustang's going to be high on the list.

I have the seafoam green Vintera Mustang from a few years ago and love it! I'm sure it's identical to this new guitar save for the finish. I had Lace Sensors installed and it definitely sounds a lot better/has noticeably more output! Also I play in pretty low tunings and use thicker gauge strings (which is kind of weird I'm sure lol) and these models REALLY shine when used for sludgey/stoner guitar riffs.

It'd be even cooler if you could do series/parallel AND in/out of phase. I was wondering the whole time about what would happen with both switches rearward or both towards each other vs both away from. I just figured it'd be switching series/parallel, already. As far as the general design of the Mustang, the pickup positions are interesting to me because unlike the conventional norm, they seem to mirror each other aside from the slant direction. What I mean is, the neck looks roughly as far away from the last fret as the bridge is from the saddles. Now, I don't have many comparisons to go off of, but I feel this would provide a sweeter combination than a neck/bridge duo where the bridge has space and the neck is just pressed against the neck (or on the 24th fret node).

Yip, the twanginess is exactly what I love about the mustang. And they've got a lot of bright shimmery bitey air to them too. Sounds really good with opto compressors, and fat full range drives, like the MXR Timmy too, where other guitars can get sludgy and muddy, if you don't rolloff tons of bass.

My dad picked up some strange guitar for me at a yardsale a few weeks ago that was made up of old teisco parts and with a homemade body. Yeasterday, i was doing a little digging and i realized that the solitary pickup was from an old fender mustang/duo sonic. I've owned a few classic vibes (Mustang, Jazzmaster, Jaguar and Stratocaster) and they have all been great guitars, especially for the price. I recently picked up the new Vintera ii Mustang in competition orange and I was speechless as to how good it is. It's hard to put into words, but there is a higher quality feel with the Vintera ii compared to my classic vibe Mustang. The most noticeable difference is in the neck/fretboard. All of my previous classic vibes came with Indian Laurel fretboards. The slab rosewood in the new vintera ii Mustang and the neck feel are great. The pickups are your typical low output spanky quality. Whereas on my classic vibes I couldn't wait to swap the pickups, the stock ones on the vintera ii are more than adequate. Straight out of the box the new Mustang was pretty much ready to go, which I could not say they same for the classic vibe equivalent. At the end of the day the only limiting factor is the price. I was able to find my Classic Vibe Mustang for $240 on craigslist - while the new vintera ii Mustang was full list price from Sweetwater. Is the vintera ii 4x better than the classic vibe? No. Is it a great guitar worth the msrp? Yes

@DevoT
@DevoT 10 месяцев назад
I agree with Eric, Mastery bridges are awesome - I have one on my Jazzmaster and it totally transformed the way the guitar plays - not to mention the sustain. I've considered getting one for my Mustang but tbh I've never really had any problems with the Mustang bridge. The length between the bridge and the tremolo plate is considerably longer on the Jazzmaster - which lowers the break angle and can cause unwanted vibration whlich over time will cause the bridge to sink into the body. The Mustang doesn't really have that problem as the space is shorter and the break angle is greater. Before you buy a Mastery, I would make sure the Mustang is properly set up. That would include making sure the cigar bar (where the strings feed into) isn't set too high. Also, putting loctite on the height adjustment screws on the bridge helps keep it in place. Lastly, adding a shim to the neck pocket can also do wonders for these guitars. If you've done all of the above and it still isn't to your liking then I would consider the Mastery.
