I had a 1987 Buick Skyhawk, EXACTLY the same 2 tone color. I love that car. It was great on gas and so comfortable. It had some kick as well. I drove it up to 289K. The rust forced me to retire it. The mechanic was solid up to the last mile. I parked it at my dad's farm. 3 years later, I put a battery in and it started on a snap. I'm driving a nice Accord now, but I truly miss that car.
I love your Cavi, .I'm a hug fan of the 1st Gen Cavaliers as well as the 2nd Gen (88-90) & (91-94).. I stupidly sold my super clean 87 and 94 super cheap in 2019. I want an 82 or 83 sedan or wagon as I like the front better. Any 1st Gen cavis are super rare now a days. I'd soooooo be proud to have your car, let the haters hate. My dad always had a repo business as long as I remember and my dad,mom and myself all 3 had a Cimarron at the same time in the 90s. I want one with manual roll up windows. But I'm with you I like boxy square bodies, 1st Gen s10s,s10 blazers,1st Gen rangers, box caprices (77-90), my beloved 3rd Gen camaros,92 and older full size rwd caddies and I also like celebrities and actually see them in Cali where I live , I like the square body ef civics also
A buddy of mine had one of these in the early 90's. It was a tank in the snow, however, he always had a problem with the manifold cracking and getting it welded since GM wanted about $500-600 for a new one. Other than that it was solid. I myself had an 88 Sunbird, same car, and I loved it. Then I had a 1990 and 97 Cavalier...those were tough cares as well. I bought the 1990 in 2001 and drove it for 5 years. That power train was a tank, until fire wall was rotting. My next was the 1997, loved it, drove it for 2 years until I needed lower mileage for travel purposes. However, then bought a 2002 Sunfire in 2007....another tank which which I put a massive amount of miles on. Drove that for 6 years, and handed down to my son.
Don't let people give you shit about your car. I caught a lot of flack for restoring a 77 Ford Pinto wegon. My first car was a pinto back in 93, so I have a special place in my heart for them. Plus, my pinto I got now, I've won many awards with it 1st and 2nd place mostly and 3 times I've gotten best in show. Oh, by the way, it's good to drive your car at least once a week or two. If anything, just just get the fluids moving and keep the seals from drying out. I also live in south Wisconsin to.
I don’t own any of these style cars and most likely never will, but there’s something about your passion for them that has me interested in your videos. I’ve watched pretty much all of them. You make good wholesome content and it is entertaining to watch. Keep us updated with the builds and restos.
This Cavalier has the rare 2 tone colour sport seats in it and you are correct about the options on the car, I love these cars, theres a guy on the cavalier forms on face book, he has cavaliers and cimarrons, I was curious if that guy was indeed you? and the cimarron is rarer than a cavalier.
North American J-Cars fascinate me, as they are so very different to their British and European equivalents, yet still have an air of familiarity about them.
The J body cars were the Generals first time working with a World Car type of platform. I have looked at the others in Europe and such and wow, familiar yet, not
Cool, I drove a tan one, a sedan in Drivers ed when I was 15 in 1989 it was a 1983 model. I have the sucessor to it now a 2010 Crystal l red metellic Cobalt sedan I like it a lot. my uncle had a 1985 grey station wagon. Good video 😀
I have a question for ya, i have a 1990 Olds 88 with the 3800. I replaced the egr valve and my gas mileage dropped from about 20 to 16. Is that normal for the pre series 1 3800. My cousin still has an old obd1 scanner and the engine keeps going from lean to rich every single second. We noticed the egr was not working so hoping that would solve the problem. What is your opinion on this?
@@gregorymalchuk272 yeah i found out that was normal a while back. It mostly does it while its warming up. But thank you for the feedback. Im still driving it to this day. Running great. 👍
