I got to experience Lithuanian military rations for the first time and decided to make an unboxing and review video for the occasion!
Shoutout to Martinas for hooking me up with these three packs!

“The cat loved it though...” Cracked me up. I had one of these MREs at a company teambuilding event, my reaction to the main course was ”I feel like my cat right now”, and I wasn’t the only one comparing it to cat food. The cat was probably wondering why his humans are suddenly eating his food.

Hi I’m a soldier in the Lithuanian military and personally I dislike the rations. All of them are bland and tasteless and you normally bring some kind of sauce to make them palatable. But the good news is they are starting to replace them with a new version and after trying it I must say that overall it’s better. They do ditch the heater so kinda sad about that but everything else is an improvement.

I agree. It took me around half a year of conscription to get sick of them. I still have some laying around the house.

MRE shown in your video are no longer available in some Lithuanian battalions, currently we are receiving a new MRE which is made in UK for Lithuania. In the new MRE we no longer have a heating pack, but according to our soldiers who are doing their mandatory military service they say that it tastes 10 times better than the old ones besides not having that heater. Personally myself I also enjoy the new MRE much more than the old ones, one minus that we no longer have the heater which would be a life saver in the winter in order to heat up the food, make tea/coffee or even warm yourself up. Also unfortunately in the new MRE all of the snacks and food is made in UK and we no longer have anything made in Lithuania,, so I'm not sure if we can call it Lithuanian MRE. You should try the new one aswell.

Oh! That is very interesting! Thank you for the update! Yes, it is a little sad that the new ones are not pagaminta lietuvoje!

I never forget "exchange" like some lads doesn't like chocolate or nuts so we can swop thems. I missing a lot of my "forest restaurant" with some nice Lithuanian MRE food. If some one say I don't like this food, that means you get NOT enough exercise from yours "boss"☝ All the best to everyone❤

It looks like a food of very good quality, but still lacking of variety and quantity of calories compared to other rations like those of Germany, Portugal, Spain, Sweden or Poland.

I served in the Lithuanian Armed Forces (Hussar Battalion) and I can confirm, we avoid the chicken MREs at all costs, at least back in 2015-2016 when I served, they were very much horrible with all of them having flabby nasty chicken skin and cartilage.

Had a couple of those (pork and beef) recently and they were ok, certainly edible even if they didn't have too much flavour. Isotonic drink powder and dark chocolate were useful during my cycling rides out of town, and rusks were perfect for those late night food cravings. All in all, everything got used and consumed and I can't complain. Would love to try Italian or French rations for comparison. Or even Polish ones.

I did try different lithuanian mre’s. For what it is it is actually very good. It fills you up for sure. Not a top notch product but for the price you can surely get worse tasting food in local cafe’s

so I learned some new English words today (which is odd, being as I am American and English is my first langauge, lol) "rusks" - never heard that word in my life, but I assume it's just crackers and "pearl millet porridge" - not sure what pearl millets are, but to let you in on a little secret, I've actually had these MRE's before! Ordered them from ebay years ago to try, and well, I really liked them! (still don't know what pearl millets are though) - then there were words like "grams" and "canadian" - lol (just picking on you, my neighborto the north, I know what a gram is and where CanadIA is :) ) - cool vid! Where did you get these rations? Are they availble to the general public in LT? I had to order some from Ebay, but lately, can't find them .... the cooking bag that came with it IS much better than the American version. Also, funny story: I was never in the military, but had a buddy who was an Army Ranger -- he did some deployment or mission with the US Air Force and told me this: they had the same weapon, same everything but different instruction books: Air Force had an explaination: point away from face, insert projectile in bore, hold at 40 degree angle, pull trigger with approx 7 pounds of force, ect ect ect ... but the Army version had a picture of the weapon with an arow and the muzzle and a caption "point this end away", a pic of a big bullet going into the gun, and a pic of the guy holding and pulling the trigger - he told me that Air Force guys are techincal and (his words) "know how to read" ... but the army guys was a bit ... (his words) ... "slower" and pictures was the best way to go, lol

They look good for the first time, but after awhile, your body just cannot eat it anymore… there are 10 “different” menus, but they all the same, its either beef with rice, beef with vegies, or chicken with rice, vegies, and pork with same rice and vegies. And all taste the same
