This is the BEST sedan Acura/Honda has ever made. NOTHING in their lineup beat this. Nothing, I had the 3.2 for 8 years. Loved that car, and I hope to get a TypeS like this one day.
Absolute OEM PERFECTION. As an 07 ASM automatic owner I just can't get enough of my TLS, f'ing legendary. I love this gen and this car, f'ing masterpiece.
I never owned one but I've always loved the timeless styling of this generation TL. I live in South Jersey and I still see them on the roads from time to time. Your collection is absolutely sick...impressive as hell. I'm still driving my '98 CRV with with just over 302K on the odometer....the first gen V's are crazy reliable.
I love this generation TL and the Type S. I was very fortunate this last fall to finally buy my dream one. I found a guy nearby who was selling his 2008 TL Type S in my FAVORITE color - kinetic blue pearl. It had more miles than I wanted, but it was one owner and he did all service at his Acura dealership which made me feel better. Accident free and no cracked dash board is hard to find. I can’t express how much I love driving and looking at this car. Even was able to negotiate the price down. I love my 2011 RDX with SHAWD but this TL is so much fun. It’s awesome seeing how many others share the same love for this car.
I have the same KBP 2008 automatic . They are head turners and mine is all stock. Found it in2018 . A wonderful quite driving experience on highway’s 👏
I got 5 kids , We own two Honda Odyssey , last summer I've bough a 07TL , what a car that was ! Feel so much planted on the highway , love it ! Now I want to find a manual one for this summer
Probably once a week I see a TL in daily traffic and it always catches my eye. Sharp car and relevant/modern now and this trim, color and condition is just so nice to see today. Future classic IMO and that's not too long from now.
YUP. i had a white diamond pearl back in 2020 except mine was an A-spec car.. 2008. black interior, but prev owner put red recaros from a JDM EP3 in. not a single crack in the dash.. ran a J37 intake manifold out of an MDX.. ATLP 3" full exhaust. Ktuned shifter. such a dope car! i've missed it the passed 3 years, so i just bought a 2003 CLS 6spd with only 60k mi.. here i go again!
@@TysonHugie yessir, the original "S car" in America that started it all for Acura. as you know, one year only in 6spd.. production #s literally only in the 100s for 2003 6spd spec CL-S
It's a gorgeous looking car, especially in Pearl White. I remember when the regular TL's were absolutely everywhere in the mid-late 2000s. Now they're virtually nonexistent unless it's a beater hanging on by a thread. Man I would love to have a garage full of classics Japanese cars, particularly Hondas or Lexus. I've always had a deep admiration for the 1990 Lexus LS400 for what it did to the luxury car industry. It revolutionized the way luxury cars were built thereafter. It gave Mercedes-Benz and BMW a run for their money and provided the luxury accoutrements that the Germans had with the added benefit of Japanese build quality and reliability. Same goes for Acura. That's why I have deep respect for both manufacturers.
That's really beautiful. They took great care of it. That design has aged extremely well. About the same hp as our 2017 Accord 6-6 and it's also a blast to drive.
What a gem! The moment you decide to sell....I don't think I've ever seen a white type s. I have a silver 07 with 134,000 miles and one of the best cars ever made.
Nice car dude, I'm on my 3rd TL-S / 4th TL too (all third generation). Just picked it up yesterday for $10K w/ 46K on it. Enjoy yours in good health brother!
Beautiful TL, wish when I picked mine up I could've found a well maintained one with the 6-speed. My Type S had a little over 74,000 miles on it when I picked it up and now has 88,000. Love mine and it seems everyone who has one loves theirs as well
Picked up the exact same spec as this yours but a 2008 with 169000km ( I live in Canada). Been lusting over this car for years and was finally in a position to pick one up. Mine has been well maintained really pleased with my purchase. Such a great car.
Absolute beautiful car Tyson. I'm surprised you don't own a second-generation Acura RL. I'm the proud owner of an 06 RL with 300K. Still an absolute dream to drive and a total driver's car. Love what you do and keep up the good work
@@TysonHugie I highly recommend it. The SH-AWD is absolutely amazing, especially in the snow but, that's not something I think you have to worry about. 😉
I agree I havyan 05 RL and they are built like tanks compared to the TL. The RL and the 07/08 share same 3.5 liter engine and the 05 thru 08 seats r real leather whereas the TL Type S seats are vinyl 😌. Hence cracking. I’ve never seen an RL with cracked dashboard either. I’ve got 3 Acura’s. Huge Honda fan but now I wish I had a JDM Toyota JZX 100👍
Adding my 2c the 2nd gen RL (aka Honda Legend) is a wonderful built car; almost overbuilt. I do almost all my own maintenance and if you've been under one you stop and take in just how intense the understructure is. Also they can take a hit. In trying to avoid someone spinning out I hydroplaned and hit a concrete wall head on at about 50, spun out and slammed the rear, spun again and was facing oncoming traffic. Was able to put it in reverse and back out of the traffic. The passenger compartment was completely sound. Very thankful to the Honda engineers. Of course even though it is a ULEV car due to the weight and drive train I have only been able to observe 22-23MpG on the highway.
True, the 05 RL I have is sort of like an auto TL-S but more solid and the AWD really keeps it planted for a heavy car. Love the aluminum suspension and real dual exhaust too.
Dude, as another 07 TL Type-S owner, that is amazingly clean. Mine isn't and will never be clean like yours. Sitting at 274k kilometers, it's been up and down the entire west coast from Alaska to California, Nevada, Idaho, into Alberta and Saskatchewan in Canada and frequently makes winter trips into the harsh British Columbia interior and the occasional forest service road for hiking and camping trips. My Hands Free Link obviously died, and I get the silly "tighten gas cap" light but it's been a great, fun and reliable car. Also have the original delivery checklist and window papers in the owner's manual pouch! At the end of the year, it'll be replaced by a '23 Kia Stinger GT Elite. The new TLX Type-S really doesn't do it for me unfortunately. I'll definitely miss the Acura though; it was one of the best cars of the mid 2000s. Congrats on this clean purchase.
Awesome pickup! I searched high and low for a manual one as a daily back in November and every example I saw was either already sold/pending sale or was too rough/not maintained well. Congrats on finding such a clean, low-mileage example. I'd love to see it in person soon!
So fun to watch this because (1) I had this (almost) exact car...white (mine had an auto and black powder coated wheels and (2) I used to live in Scottsdale. Thanks for bringing back so many great memories.
What an incredible example! We have one in Moroccan Red Pearl (unfortunately auto) considering the age and the fact it’s a sedan it’s sooo much fun in the SoCal canyons. I think for now on I will always have one in the lineup. Congratulations!
Awesome find and addition to the family. And, of course, a great vanity plate! Sorry I never got a chance to see your TLX Type S in person. And I still haven’t seen one in the wild yet…
The car is elegant to this day. With its sonorous engine and great driving dynamics, this car is still desirable to this day. I do like the newer most recent example of the Type-S, but its not as dramatic and theater as the 2007 Type-S.
When this body style of generation came out, I always loved the styling. My ex had the basic one, theirs was a '05. I also rented a '07 & '08 back. I know I'm going to get cursed out by Honda/Acura Family. But for me this was one of the most uncomfortable car I ever drove. 🤦♂️😆 The generation after that 2009 , although not a fan of that Eagle Beak Grill was a completely different ride. But this generation still has a beautiful style and has aged well.
Very nice. I came very close to buying a third-gen TL when they came to market in '04, but ended up with an '04 TSX instead. I had it for 15 years and barely had 50K miles on it when some asshole plowed into me at a stop light and completely totaled it. Straight hit and run. I never even saw the vehicle that hit me and my car was a complete loss. I was heartbroken. Stopped at a red light minding my own business. The sweetest manual gearbox of any car I've ever driven and super clean the day it was destroyed. I miss it to this day. I really enjoyed driving it. The Acura's of that vintage were remarkably well-built and very fun to drive. I never had one issue with it. I'm also looking forward to the new Integra's. IMO, Acura kind of lost their way after the third-gen TL's and the original TSX's. Hopefully the Integra will bring the focus back to building enthusiast cars. Enjoy your ride!
That is a really nice looking TL .The manual transmission is a bonus. I have a 2004 Base Deep Green Pearl It runs and drives great with 180k miles. Thanks for the video Tyson.
Love my 6 speed TL-S. Got it with 60,000 miles but now has 293,000....figured I'd drive mine as much as I can when Im not at the track and still looks like it has 60,000 miles :)
loving mine as well, was able to find a stock type s 6spd wit only 87k miles as well :) wonderful cars i have the type s lips ready to be painted as well
Tyson I like this Acura TL. I prefer the pearl white,it reminds me of my 2006 Acura TSX in pearl white. Are there any of your cars that you feel like you'd never get rid of?
I've always been curious as to if you had a day job Tyson. I'd love to know what it is. 😊. Every time I turn around you're out purchasing another literal gem! I've always loved this version of the TL.
Congrats on this gem! Beautiful inside and out. Been one of my dream cars for a while now. Currently have a 94 Integra 5 speed. Hoping in the near future to come across a TL-Type S as clean as yours!
My daily is a 06 Base TL with the 6-speed. 240k miles and still a great every time I take it for a drive. It's been road tripped from St Louis to Seattle and back.
Hey Tyson, just saw you on “Jay Leno’s Garage”. Like this video because I’m the proud original owner of a 2006 TL 6M w/navi. 145,000 miles black over black. She’s in great shape and runs great.
Wow! Amazing! Sitting in my 04 6 speed manual watching your video. Would love to own one as clean as yours one day. Mine has 225k on it and I look forward to driving it everyday.
@@TysonHugie I'll be watching a year from now to see when-if you list it for sale haha. I'd keep that baby for years. Can't beat the feel of the transmission and the way these cars drive with the J series engine. I recently got a 1996 Acura TL 2.5 premium with only 100k miles on it while it's a soft riding smooth cruiser I prefer the 3rd gens sporty feel
Yeah, Buddy! This is what happens when you are the king of Acura's! Epic find, totally stoked for you. Put me in line for when it's time to let it go, please, and thank you!
I'm the only owner of my 06 tl 6sp. Believe me, it's way faster than the auto transmission. Leave them by a mile. Still love and enjoy mine. Has 200k and still runs like new.
You lucked out the seats indeed. I had to warranty the driver's side seat when I owned my 08 TL-S. It started cracking with only a couple thousand miles.
I believe they figured out with the cracking on the dashboard that there is a metal plate for the airbag that heats up with the Sun light and causes the cracks. Yours has the discoloration of the shape of the metal plate. FYI.
Nice man! I picked up an 08 TL type S 6-speed last year. These things are super rare, usually only like 2-3 in decent condition selling in the country at any given time. After spending a bunch of 💰 that I didn't plan on to make it basically prestine oem like yours, they are pretty sweet! If you're ever in SD hit me up and let's meet up. Lastly, where'd you get your bumper plugs? Dealer wants like $100 for them and I'm fundamentally against paying that much for those. Thanks man!
Tyson, I have a 2008 Base TL with the similar while pearl paint. My rear bumper is also a slight mismatch. Never wrecked or repainted I’ve been told this was just some sort of a manufacturing defect of sorts. Thoughts?
Yes there is almost always a slight mismatch. But mine has for sure been repainted. Confirmed by a body shop. I will probably have it corrected by having the entire back half of the car reshot.
Great car! Hope you're enjoying FM and Dire Straits with the ELS Audio. I love both of the artists, huge Dire Straits (Mark Knopfler) fan! Enjoy all the cars in good health!
The condition of the car really speaks to the love and care that the owner had for it. Plus the fact that it isn't from the rust belt. Cars like this just don't exist in Ohio, unless they get garaged during the winter.
Excellent review! The acura TL type s with six speed it is very hard to find. Can you tell me if the sound system sounds good or not? The reason I have asked this question is because I used to own a 2005 acura tl. I always thought the sound system was kind of weak.
The rear bumper was not repainted. Paint on plastics fades at different speed than on metals. I have 08 TLS WDP, same issues. Front bumper color is off too.
