Mine is a 2014 GMC Terrain SLT all wheel drive...bought it brand new now has 280.000 km on the 2.4 litre engine...eco tech...runs like new only thing I changed was water pump at 140.000 km which was still under warranty and new spark plugs at 175.000 km. I have used Mobil 1 full synthetic 5W30 and Fram ultra synthetic filters since new...change the oil myself whenever the computer light says to change it..with 5% left. It leaks a bit of oil but not much maybe a quart every 5000 km...I just add when needed..never had transmission problems change the trans oil every 50.000 km....with full synthetic Valvoline oil KEY.
Luckily your oil light works mine doesnt, it also burns oil and doesnt use oil I have to refill the oil between changes approximately 1.5x between oil changes. My engine was pretty much bone dry when I brought it in for my first oil change. Also hate the difficulty of accessing the transmission fluid. The average fuel mileage is b.s I've never seen the avg number even while driving and looking at the live fuel mileage. The most I have ever gotten is 19mpg. Besides the power you lose even going up a slight hill
You must have the 2.4 ecotec with the defective piston oil rings. My wife's 2012 Chevy Orlando just got the free piston rebuild and doesn't lose oil now. It was losing almost 2 qts in 2k miles! There is a poorly engineered washer in the 6 sp auto tranny that destroyed her tranny, 4300 rebuild. Then she got rear ended and totalled, so I'm looking for good shape car for cheap that we have her engine/tranny put into and she will have a nicer car than before for a low price, if I can find one.
Not long ago I test drove a used 2015 and for the most part I really liked it except for it's "just adequate" giddy-up and go. It's not snail slow, but I really expected a bit more umph. And I agree in regards to liking the boxy look of this body style over the 2018+ Terrain. For me, if I come across a used V6 version with decent miles & price I'd consider buying it. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for your review you did a great job ,and I’m purchasing the GMC and I’m excited 😜 and watched you , your kinda funny and I got a couple of chuckles !!
@@ickisOblina I have the 2020,bought it Dec.2019. It's good. Lexus is better, much better. These cars are made in Mexico ! I only have 5K miles on my car. Wish someone would do a review on a higher milaged 2020. I bought it new, kind of a stupid thing to do !
Thank you for this video. I am thinking about buying a 2014 Terrain and I was worried about how much cargo room the vehicle has. But it looks like it has plenty of space.
To each there own, maybe you're very well off. Why buy a vehicle and then trade in at just under 50,000km I'm assuming your making payments. Wouldn't you ever want to not have payments. I have a 2011 dodge charger se. It has the 3.6L V6 with 180,000km on it. Havent had payments for some time now. Money in the bank!
@@sevavirk2654 On your radio hit the home button, go to config, then go down to display settings and there will be an option for rear camera display in their will be to turn on guidelines.
If you put too much gas in this vehicle, it backfires when you turn the engine p off. Also, and the biggest headache I have with this vehicle is the black out of the radio screen and the audio coming on and going off briefly - at will. You cannot control anything. My intellilink cable IS connected but this thing still acts up. I've had to change out both solenoids and spark plugs, have the throttle body cleaned, and have that fog smog cleaned off my headlights in a span of 4 1/2 yrs. I has a 1984 Grand Prix brand new with only 7 miles when I picked it up. When I basically gave it to a young man 17 yrs later after having put 497, 749 miles on it, I can assure you that I did not do any major work to that vehicle. That 1984 was far superior than my 2014. I am highly disappointed in General Motors severe decline in manufacturing quality. If you have any beneficial info on my radio issue with this vehicle, please feel free to share if you so desire.
my daughter has a 2015 terrain with 60k miles on it..piece of crap from day one.....now the engine is blown and the dealer is saying a blown engine isnt covered by the warranty.never again will any of us buy a crappy gmc vehicle.
Wow. I have a 2011 with 247,000 K (aprox. 150,000 mi) and she runs like a top. Yeah a spot of surface rust here and there but still solid and runs like a top. I have the V6 so don`t know if the oil issue is with just the 1.8L
2012 SLT with 3.0 230,000 miles all I've done is oil changes and transmission fluid changes. I have a little bit if torque converter shutter between 30 to 40 mph. But it's intermittent so oh well.
@@devolution1310 Same with mine. I have a 2011 V6 that I purchased brand new at the time, and I'm up to 133K so far, and no major issues. Sounds like some of these owner(s) are trashing the vehicle somehow or wherever they get the service done isnt doing their job. As long as you ensure the vehicle is maintained, they run great.
Yea I recently got a 2016 GMC Terrain SLT 6 cylinder, 89k miles, immediately noticed it burning oil (within first oil change), so now have to check constantly, didn't realize the intellink radio cannot be updated, removed and after market system installed, Reprogrammed by dealer to update manually,... Nope, u gotta pay for on star and call in every set of directions.. It was cheaper to buy a high end cell phone holder and mount on dashboard for using phone GPS.. Transmission slips a little and seems to run high pitched also, which is weird and I'm sure not good, but it still starts up and goes for now, but yea I've had it for about 8 months and I am expecting it to have a major issue soon. Oh and one more thing, I had the headlight go out and went and bought the right bulb and got all setup one Saturday to change it cause why not, I'm a guy who's done that on every vehicle I've owned in life for 40yrs and never been unsuccessful, well there's a first time for everything cause this one there's no access to the bulb and you have to take the dam cars fender and front grill part off and jack it up remove the tire and all of that just to swap a bulb, so basically you gotta have a mechanic charge u 80 for labor and then they sell you a 25 bulb for 40.00!! And since I already had purchased the one from auto zone and it was new in package I told them to use that one (which was nice one that cost 30) they said they would but no warranty on the repair.. I said we'll what's the warranty if I use yours, they said the install pretty much, if the bulb goes out after it works here then it still ain't our bulb you have another problem that blew it... I said holy crap this is a lot of inconvenience for standard things on a car...
I have a Terrain too. Both of my variable valve timing solenoids went bad and the check engine light was on. Other problem is the HVAC actuator went bad and I had no heat. Both are common problems for years, so why didn’t GM fix those issues? I still had the power train warranty, so those variable valve timing solenoids were fixed under warranty, but I was over on the regular warranty and the HVAC actuator repair was almost $400!
I had the same issue with solenoids. It was an easy 10 minute fix and I know nothing about cars so if anyone else has this problem use the youtube video and save yourself some money if your beyond warranty as I was. Cost about $50 for parts
Adolfo Carrillo yes they are this model year gets 22 city and 32 highway. The newer models for 2018 get 28 city and 38 highway for a diesel. The newer models for gas get 26 city 30 highway. Also the new models only come in a 4 cylinder engine with a turbo (1.5 or 2.0). Keep in mind that you will want to use premium gas. The older models for 2017 you can get a 4 cylinder or a 3.6 6 cylinder.
Yes,i have one,i put twenty dollars in it takes back & fourth to work which only takes a 1/2 hour to get there & 1/2 hour home .untill the gas goes up again.
First Panda car video that the vehicle wasn't immaculate and gleaming. If it's paid for, drive it another 4 years and save your money, since it's your third vehicle. Use the monthly savings to pay off any other debt ( car, credit card, mortgage). Peace
My aunt had excessive oil consumption issue with her equinox (which has the same crappy engine as this terrain). Had to fill up a few quarts of oil every 1,000 miles or less. And it was new when she bought it. She ended up buying another new equinox. Smh.
I’m a car guy but the only reason this soccer mom car means a lot to me is bc I started learning how to drive at 14 in it and no I didn’t do it with my parents I stole it in the middle of the night I’m 20 now
"call has ended", is most likely an accessibility feature for blind people to know that the call is done. obviously joking since blind people wouldn't be driving.
My 2014 when I bought it about a year ago engine blowed about 2 months later. Pice of shit but I had a new engine put in. But you can't keep oil in it burns the hell out of it. Will never buy another one.
we have a 2017 and its going back !!! These cars are JUNK !! Only 2 winters and the doors are all rusting !! The cheap plastic inner wheel wells are all cracked & peices fell out. The power windows dont go up or down when its winter. The rear hatch doesnt work in the winter. This car is NOT built for northern Canada.
happyrv I have a 2013. I live in Thunder Bay Ontario... it gets very cold here. It’s -30 on average. I read this comment before purchasing mine from my dad. I’ve since then owned it for the worst part of the winter... and yes the windows freeze like every car when it’s super cold, but that’s normal. The hatch works like it does in the summer. My inner wheel wells are perfectly fine... no cheap plastic issues. Maybe they started cheaping out in 2017?? But yes I haven’t really had any of those issues :/
Peter von Panda Personal preference, I would highly recommend the suburu crosstrek. AWD suv/hatback crossover. amazing comfort, premium features, great mpg, and capable of handling chicago winters as I live in the suburbs as well. u should check it out, tell me what u think
@@lpetarp3915 I mean I love the look but my cv joints are going out and the car is jerking when changing gears can you make a video about it and yes it’s the 4cyl
Ok, I hope you no longer have this car, dude you complain about everything. You bought a base model , you didn't get all the bells and whistles. I bet if you bought a Canyon you'd complain about it too. I'm shocked you had anything nice to say at the end. Again, I hope you sold this car and got into a Denali because you just aren't gonna like anything that isn't loaded.
