Bonjour, I found you from one of Ethony's videos. The borderless Waite Smith is on my wish list but I'll be looking at walk throughs for the Star Spinner Tarot, which is on my wish list but I want to see every card, and the Sorcerer's Tarot. The original Thoth deck has been on my wish list but places I've tried it's out of stock so they can't order it in for me. I have the Aleister Crowley Tarot by Tania Ashan. I can see the Thoth imagery in the cards but it's in a modern style and perhaps it's missing some of the original artwork, I'm not sure if any of the card's art has been simplified or decluttered to go along with the modern style but also the actual card art is quite small, the cards aren't that big and yeah the borders. Would love something bigger to take in all the beautiful art and symbology. It's the only Thoth deck in my collection so far so at least I have something to start learning with. I'm pretty fussy when it comes to modern art, but I love art nouveau. Thank you for sharing. I enjoy videos of people showing the cards so I can decide which to add to my wish list so I can curate my collection. Like you said not just any cards, but cards I connect with and mean something to me.
I’m actually not crazy about the borderless RWS version. I had gotten it at a night market, and was… quite put off by it, and the different design on the back of the cards. I dunno why I got that vibe from it. The only thing I can think of is that it didn’t have the RWS feel to it for me. It’s funny because I actually never had that deck; my first deck was the Deviant Moon in, I think, 2013 or 2014.. and several others over time since then before finally making a move to get the RWS one. I’ve since gotten the bordered version I’m more familiar with. To answer your question about reading reversals, I kind of do. I have a very specific way of shuffling my cards that should prevent cards from getting reversed, so if one does show up, I take note of it but will flip it upright for my own ease of reading. That said, I don’t usually get reversed cards when I do readings, but I look at the overall spread to get a feel for what the cards are trying to say. I usually get a sense of how the spread is trying to say and if I need to factor in reading a card with its reversed meaning in mind. Though, I try to go off my intuition first and then refer to my books for meanings. I’m an artist/illustrator, and I use a lot of wet media- mostly watercolor- and that Otherkin deck is just stuuuuuunning. There is a really, really nice vibe I got from that one out of all that you showed in this video.
Thank you for your thoughts!! What Pamela Coleman Smith RWS deck would you recommend? I like it because it’s her art with better coloring and I generally don’t like borders hahaha. I appreciate your elaboration on using reversals and yes, the Otherkin is honestly one of my favorite mass market decks I ever had!!
Happy New Year, Casper! I loved your selections for this video. On an unrelated note, I’m curious if you’ve heard of the Purple Moon New Age shop in Hong Kong. I know that’s super far from Singapore still, but it’s a little closer than the U.S. and they offer a ton of both mass market and indie decks. I was considering purchasing a deck from them. If you’ve purchased from them before, I’d love to know your opinion and if they’re a good option!
Hey my friend thank you! No sadly I’ve never been to Hong Kong or heard of the store :/ but if I ever go I’ll be sure to check it out!!! Are you ordering from them online?
Which one??????? Please remind me. Yes thanks for giving your input - I’m gonna try reading without for a while and see how I feel hahaha thank you my friend
@@BoyDiviner Hehe Thoth! Thoth is an example that I can read without reversed (like I said, I read according to the card backs). But even without card backs as a limiting factor, I think it is possible too!
