Portugal arguably has the most depth of any squad. Portugals only problem is being vulnerable on the counter attack. And England doesn't really do counter attacks. The only reason I have my doubts with England is because of southgate. He’s been one of Englands best managers, but he’s still horrible. France has the experience, the star power, the depth, and the best player in the world. I find it hard to imagine a tournament where they don’t make it at least to the final. They’re my favorites and I don’t think it’s all that close.

I do not see England as favorites. I think the problem is they have too much star power not enough balance. The attack is sold if England do not play Foden on the left since he is just not as effective. The problem is that midfield loses balance if you include Foden as a CAM. And the right is reserved for Saka or Palmer. The defense is a mess with injuries, age, and depth. Star power is not all.

England and Germany both have the same problem. A great offensive side and a shaky defence. Posession based football as played extensively in Germany is IMO a little more risky during these tournaments against very defensive teams (such as Scotland). Overall France has the most depth and is the most balanced team. If tournament victory were determined by strength of the squad alone, France would win it. However, the outright favourite has only won 1/3 of the times of Euros since the 16 team confiuguration started and only in 43% of all Euros. And depending whether you go after English betting sites or after expert opinion, the outright favourite is either England or France.

Tbh I don’t think Croatia will win against Belgium. The reason why Belgium is ranked high in the fifa ranking is because they don’t lose in qualification matches. I do agree it’s not the same belgium as a few years ago but we still have big and good players like Trossard, de Bruyne, lukaku, casteels, doku, bakayoko, lukebakio, Amadou onana, Witsel, openda. We have a very strong attack and midfield with good rotation players. The only thing that lacks a bit of quality is the defence. But even then, we didn’t lose any game since the new coach Tedesco came in. Belgium without kdb played 2-2 in a friendly against England and we won a friendly against Germany. I think Belgium might be underrated again like the 2018 wc. I don’t think we will win, but I think we will make it difficult for the big football nations. I think we have a very good squad to get to the quarterfinals
