Fashion shit, fashion styles -Stay away, Nirvana And now kurt Cobain is gonna be a fashion Icon xd Also I have a doubt with the grunge style. First, Kurt cobain wear those clothes from second hand stores, but now the fast-fashion companies sell those items, like ripped clothes (Even My mom have one ripped sweater), and sometimes are bad quality and promoves consumption. I don't know how to explain this cause I talk spanish. Anyway, really Nice video

unpopular opinion as a teenager ripped jeans are the most unflattering and boring clothing pieces at least for my style😭 they aren’t feminine enough for the cute barbie pink bow and lace fits of 2023 but not rebellious and raw enough for more edgy looks. literally the only way I ve seen them worn are in the most basic neutral school fits and that’s pretty sad:(

@@corinamuresan3304 I think, they are usually not really styled intentionally. It looks like the person needed pants for the look and then put them on. I think, they could look great in a apocalypse inspired fit for example, maybe layered with a skirt or something.

The movement from preppy/polished to grungy/messy is so interesting! I think we saw this "clean girl" aesthetic partially as a response to the pandemic as there was so much emphasis in society of being clean and sanitised, which showed in fashion. But now that we're sorta passed all that, the shift to grungier looks almost feels like a middle finger to the pandemic - people are being "dirty" and proud about it! Using messiness as a form of liberation is just really cool

What I’m hoping for is more colourful and interesting clothing options. In Melbourne, almost everyone dresses head to toe in plain classics. Mostly black, beige and grey- so seeing just one person on the street wearing bright colours and patterns makes me smile. I used to dress in a lot of black, but after spending more time in the city, I crave colour. I CRAVE IT IN MY SOULLLLL Edit: I just travelled to Sydney for a little bit, and was pleasantly surprised at the amount of people wearing colourful clothes. However, most of them were plain rather than patterned or printed. I find it so interesting how the status quo is different there, but the overall message is still the same: keep it simple.

My personal issue with this is that I find it SO HARD to make a cohesive colorful outfit that looks cool and intentional - I'll literally spend 50 minutes making outfits, end up late, and leave looking worse and feeling unsure of myself lol. If anyone has tips pls help

@minglian9335 5 месяцев назад
@@en2336wear a dress! With a print that has lots of coloursXD is my biggest tip. Although it can also work for separates.. it's just that dresses are so forgiving If you aren't a dress kinda peep/expense, then you can add colourful accessories- so jewellery (earrings, necklaces, rings) scarves, bandanas, bags, hats- in a solid bright colour like red or purple or green, and then there's also cute colourful nail polish😁 mix and match for bonus fun vibes And the accessories colours should be the ones you have in the print. It might feel a bit daunting if you're not used to wearing a lot of colour but it gets easier over time And the added bonus is you're easier to spot in a crowd👍 Good luck with things:)

@krepieri 5 месяцев назад
@@en2336 you can start with colourful everyday accessoires (like beanies, scarfs, you name it), and then move on to a colour like blue or dark green, because they scream not that much in your face COLOURFUL. If this goes to fast for you, you could start switching out black pieces for white pieces, this gives a similar vibe to colourful colours, but is easier to style.

Personally I never found flannels or ripped jeans to have been stuck in the 2010s! Maybe because I’m from a smaller town (there’s a whole farming community ten minutes away and the teens all go to the same high school) but having flannels over sweaters and ripped jeans (because of sports especially) is still super common. I think those specifically are just normal in teen wear imo :) Also YAY for varsity jacket, polos and everything preppy!!

@@theresajohnston9676 Men's clothes really aren't these days (I'm a guy who shops in both sections but I generally prefer the way men's clothes are sized so I wish there were more feminine or androgynous options available there). Also even if some androgynous clothes are available in the women's section that's still different from androgyny being a trend more broadly speaking.
@skippykay599
@skippykay599 5 месяцев назад
Hard agree. A lot of last year’s trends seemed very feminine to me, between the bows, ballet core, pinks. Not to mention styles literally being called “___ girl.” All of these elements could be styled in an androgynous way, but suffice to say I shop in both sections and really steered clear of these hyper feminine trends
@andreja9425
@andreja9425 5 месяцев назад
I love androgyny but as a trans girl who recently just gained full confidence in her femininity, I have been so happy about all the hyper feminine trends lately. It feels like I truly get to explore and express that without any shame or fear of judgement for the first time so I don’t want to see that stuff go away forever. Androgyny usually means “masculine adjacent” in fashion a lot of the time but I feel like maybe I could still be happy in a more glammy david bowie or grace jones type of androgyny or something. Something less utilitarian, more bold with interesting shapes and color that aren’t necessarily strictly masculine or feminine. Maybe tomboyish? Idk. I love mixing men’s and women’s wear already and playing with code switching but I don’t particularly care for the type of androgyny that’s just like “t-shirts and jeans on every one”

My predictions: Flowers become gardens= as you said, 3d flowers turn more realistic with stems, leaves, and imperfections. Mixed flowers, and greenery. With that, FLOWER CROWNS ARE IN, but as in a wreath, nymph like, a bouquet, a rococo garden growing on top of our heads (not like "crowns", but like headbands). It color = PINK. With Barbie Pink and Red being strong colors, the next one is a softer, more muted version of those. Powdery pinks and mauves are on the horizon. Yarn = with more "indigenus clothing" come the texture of yarn. I dont live in the US, but I ve seen more and more people wearing thick yarn ponchos and knitted accesories (in my country). Not dainty crochet, but thick yarn that says "im here for a long time, not a good time". Structured shapless gowns = the new silouet is boxy. Like in the mid 2010's blazer way, but even less fitted. Either too short or too long. A line dresses, sleeves that arent fitted. Palazzos and stuff. Structed clothes that hold their shape even if you are not wearing them. I think this will come as a way of showing "good quality" to appeal to the masses. Indie Sleaze.

From a punk and goth perspective I see a HUGE new wave of interest in bringing subcultures back, searching for community and individualism at the same time, which has been on the rise ever since the pandemic. Elements of especially goth fashion have been influencing the mainstream (cant say the same for punk because what the mainstream calls punk is so far removed, it almost feels like borrowing the name for more credibility), there is also a need and yerning to bring early 2000's scene emo back. We are gonna see that big time both with people who actually rejoin these subcultures and the mainstream borrowing only the things they like. For specific items im expecting to come back among people rejecting the clean life aspirations its: - side swept bangs, side parts - racoon tail/striped hair extensions or dye jobs - big hair - black lace layering pieces - studs and rivets - knot motives, functional and decorative lacing - high laced boots - highly ripped loose jeans - prints, embroidery and overall designs on jean legs (this has been a trend for a while but i believe its only gonna get stronger) And i know there will be a 2016 nostalgia comeback. Probably not this year, but it is on the horizon.
@maggiebkny

I think the ripped jeans might be more of a suburban thing - my niece in Denver wears them, but the kids at the two high schools near me in Brooklyn wear pristine, look like new straight leg jeans, overwhelmingly in black, occasionally brown. In fact it occurred to me last week they must have all asked for black clothes for Christmas, because the amount of head-to-toe black was remarkable.

Hearing about all these things that I just have in my personal style becoming a possible trend is absolutely wild to me. I very much describe myself as “earthy grunge”- messy yet put together dark alternative punk and grunge outfits with more outdoorsy or botanical elements. Basically black and leather, but with flannels, earth tones, and botanical motifs. Also pins. All my jackets and bags are either painted on or have pins. If grunge really is going to come back into the mainstream, I’m excited for it because it means the fashion I like will be more accessible, I’m just worried about the quality and longevity of any and all new pieces, especially fast fashion

An indigenous designer that I would recommend is Naiomi Glasses, she has a new collection with Ralph Lauren. Also, they're in their early 20's, but my cousin and her gf were both wearing jeans with holes in them on Christmas, so I feel like maybe that is popular with the "youngsters" lol. And I think patches might be 2024 trend, not just patchwork fabric, but like embroidered iron-on or sew-on patches. It goes with the DIY trend and the pin/brooch trend. But also Tumblr grunge and rebellious styles being the opposite of the corp and clean-girl aesthetics reminds me of punk style versus preppy style in the 80's. And 80's punks wore battle jackets with lots of pins and patches. My friends and I actually just worked on some together. Plus if people want to go a different direction with it, they can be more gorp-core with that since it feels very girl-scout/boy scout. Or team sport-ish, like you could put them on varsity jackets. And you can even sew or embroider you own patches if you want to really be DIY. Maybe it's just because Pinterest is such a DIY site, but I've seen a lot of videos on there of people painting their denim jackets, so I think jacket/vest personalization is going to be big this year

A lot of these predictions fit in so well with the “10 year trend cycle” but the trends appropriately rebranded based off the world now vs 2014

Yay! I had already been waiting for this! Really interesting thoughts. Thank you once more for the care you put into finding truly diverse inspo pics - I especially celebrate that you included people with visible disabilities. And as always diverse body types and skin colors. I especially appreciate your critical thoughts on the "south western" trends and will be on the look out for native fashion creators. All the best for the new year!

loved your video as alwaysss & i rly agree about blue maybe being the next trending colour (even tho it’s still kind of a weird concept to me that a particular colour can be a trend haha),, but i’ve also been feeling extra drawn to it recently for some reason

Gosh the feeling of being drawn to something before it’s a “thing”! I remember getting so annoyed by this in the early 2010’s as something I enjoyed rose into fashion, as I was simply too cool for mainstream trends(🙄) lol now as I’ve “maturéd”, I just wear what I love regardless and let myself be inspired by trends~ but I love the way you put that it’s just a higher fashion power bringing the collective together 💞 bc it really do be like that

Your 'tribal' print prediction.... Ralph Lauren just announced last month a collab with a Navajo designer/weaver soooooooooooo mmmhmmmmm I'm not a fashion analyst but I pretend to be one among my friends ;) (collab is a 3 year term, iirc) It will be interesting to see if other fashion houses/designers pick up on that possible trend as well. I live in AZ part time so I see a lot of it, obviously, but in my actual home state of virginia.... not so much.

Hi there! First time watching! First, you have such gorgeous hair. like wow! Second, I appreciate your eloquence and respect for native designers etc. I agree with a lot of your predictions. Western has been big for a while and I am looking forward for the southwestern revival. I own an online vintage shop so I'm really excited for it as I've been pushing it since last year and have some excellent pieces in my inventory. I'm kinda surprised to hear about the flannel coming back. Ive been selling a lot of flannel for the last couple of years. But I guess I'm happy to see it's an actual prediction for this year. The nautical trend is definitely interesting. Also excited for the brooch revival for young folks cos I also sell amazing brooches! lol Let me go explore more of your videos! Great predictions!

a few things i've noticed or that I think would be natural progressions from earlier trends that are my personal trend predictions for this year: - black as the main neutral, moving further from early 2020s browns and beiges - more sophisticated reds - burgundy, maroon, etc - on that note, more fun pops of color - i think purple could be big - waistcoats, corsets, LACE etc in more casual outfits: adding structured and historical elements is going to keep being big. the vivienne westwood influences are going to be strong especially since there's a move away from minimalism into grungier looks - hair accessories - i think scarves and hats are a natural progression from bows, including summery versions

My husband bought me a 23 and me, he was curious as to what I was. I mean I claimed all my life 75% Native American.. I was wrong, only 67% Native American. Surprisingly I’m also 2% Egyptian. Having said that, I think native prints coming back as a trend is soo awesome, I do hope people buy thrifted items to help the planet. And if new, I hope people buy from someone who is native and sells clothing/accessories with native motifs. I’m excited to fly to South America soon to buy some native attire and accessories myself.

I definitely see/know teens that still wear ripped jeans. I think they’ll always be a part of fashion of the youths. But I also foresee even more sashiko mending and other types of visible mending (darning, embroidery, appliqué, patchwork…) continuing to be on the rise when you aren’t into your distressed apparel but just can’t or don’t want to get rid of a favorite piece! I Iove love your videos!

What I feel is that - Brandy Melville / bella swan / rory gilmore is on the brink of a resurgence - Fashion frontrunners will feel fatigued dressing colorfully (or quirky) & pushing boundaries; they will dress more normie as a result - Girls will start showing less skin & dress more trad prairie girl
@alwaysrootingfortheantihero123
@alwaysrootingfortheantihero123 5 месяцев назад
I am here for a trade prairie girl trend. Especially for winter cause modest long sleeve dresses are so good for staying warm, feeling feminine, and emulating Anne of Green Gables.

I feel as though the Rory gilmore aesthetic never really went out of fashion especially around autumn time so it would make sense for this to have a comeback. I would like to see lorelai's fashion incorporated more as it often seems overlooked when she had some really nice outfits and the girls in the show represent actual y2k and I'd like to see that represented more kinda like in the way pink pantheress does it

As an az native, the people ive talked to on reservations are SUPER excited about southwest becoming popular. Ive talked to mutiple people from hopi, yavapi, apachi, Cherokee, etc., tribes and they appreciate people appreciating their culture. Its weird to me that a white woman with no association to native american culture is calling this trend wrong... maybe talk to some actual native american individuals about it

I really think grunge is coming back hard this year, as I also see it coming back in makeup trends. And I guess it also expands on the leather jackets we've been seeing in different styles the past few years. I'd love seeing a full return to grunge!

I LOVED this video and it made me actually excited about 2024 fashio. Disrespect, messy, cowboy hats and fury jackets, just to mention. It feels like it may be my year. Also do you think the 90s are in the center of the tendencies for 2024? I'm seeing a lot now silver jewelry and knee long boots, a lot of velvet too.

I reckon there’s gonna be a big return to rock and metal aesthetic in this second half of the 2020s… very anecdotal as I don’t encounter many teens in my life but I’m seeing more goths and emo teens in my city the last couple of years, they had been an almost extinct species since the mid 2010s!

There's a term for images that are made to look 3d on flat surfaces; it's called trompe l'oeil! Though the term more generally translates to "tricking the eye" and designers can do this in various ways.
