@@nolanc.4752 I was debating between the pm2 and tenacious, but decided on the pm2 for blade steel. I personally prefer the tenascious when it comes to fidgeting though
@@calebpettifer I've got both and I can see the struggle in choosing. In all honesty though I thump on my multiple tenacious models and tend to take it easy on my pm2. I try to ignore price but can't seem to. Pm2 if I have to choose but my tenacious gets more pocket time when I know it's gonna take a real beating. What a classic
@@nolanc.4752 My thing is, the pm2 is so light it seems like it would be easy to break, but ive seen videos of people abusing them with no issues. The 940 has that little extra heft which makes it feel sturdier for me
The 110 is a solid choice, it's my go-to work knife because it's non-threatening but still a beast that i know i can get dirty and put a good edge on with minimal effort
The only downside is the weight, huh? How well do memories cut? Do those memories tighten the pivot back up after youve used it for 5 minutes? Do those memory carbides keep the blade sharp? Just curious, have you handled a folding knife made after 1989? I feel like that's the only way one could see a 110 as a viable option. My dad's an awesome guy, done a lot of great things. He carries a frost cutlery. I'm not gonna let my love of my father overpower basic common sense and start carrying a trash knife. Hey, you do you though. Having a half pound of brass in your pocket certainly does have uses. I just don't know why brass brick would have a blade.
My choices are what I actually carry on a daily basis. I am too old to leave my good blades in the display cabinet, and use cheap stuff for hard use. Also my list is based on functionality. 1. Swiss Army Swiss Champ, 2. Swiss Soldiers Knife, and, 3. Benchmade 940 Osborne.
Jeff, I still remember your story time video about the road trip you took with your grandad. I actually went to the Jewel Cave and through the tiny crawl through box thing when I was in America years ago after remembering you talk about it! Great to see you talk about some of your older knives from your older videos!
@@jimdobbs1861 Actually its Neither. Both are short for Paramilitary 3... I know that Spyderco makes a Military knife too with a slip joint lock like a coldsteel or Buck.
The Buck 110 is definitely on my list. I have five of them in my collection and I use that knife for everything from hunting to everyday tasks. The edge retention is phenomenal. I process about 2-3 deer sized animals from field to table before having to sharpen it and resharpening it is almost too easy. Five to ten minutes on a carborundum is all I need to get it back to a hair shaving edge.
@@GreyRock100 usually the action is pretty safe but i usually clean it as best i can and then give is some fresh oil and work the grit out with that. If you want tho i know there are people out there who will drill out the pins and replace them with screws
@@cashdingo6386 dont get me wrong i love knives in all styles and i plan on buying more some day but its hard to spend even the 20-50 dollars i tend to put doen for a knife when ive got my go to already. The only other knife i really see myself wanting right now is something kinda tactical for when i go somewhere im allowed to have a knife but not a gun
My edc knives were cheap flea market and or Walmart knives and now that I’m an adult my edc was the Tenacious till I lost it for a year then I purchased a kershaw blur Ken Onion design plain edge and just a month ago I found my Tenacious and those are the only two I edc and for work as well
For me its very simple, my 3 folding knives for life are all Swiss Army knives. 1) On my keychain the 58mm Midnite Manager with its mini-tools - blade, scissors, nail file/small screwdriver , combo cap lifter & Philips screwdriver. LED & pen. 2) My preferred Gentleman's knife is the 93mm Pioneer X with its medium sized blade & large scissors plus the usual cap lifter / screwdriver, can opener / small screwdriver & the awl 3) My preferred pocket tool kit is the 4 layer 91mm Huntsman with its large range of useful tools from blades to scissors to wood saw & the other standard Victorinox tools and my Huntsman is fitted with Plus scales that adds the pen and I have a Firefly ferro rod in place of the toothpick, a tinder spiral on the corkscrew held in place by a mini-screwdriver & my Huntsman is fitted with the SwissQlip for convenient pocket carry. I do have other SAK knives from 84mm to 111mm in size but my choices above are the 3 that I would choose over all other combinations.
Mine would be of the folding knives I currently own. 3. Benchmade Barrage. 2. ZT 0301 1. SAK Tinker. It was my 13th Birthday present from my parents. I've had it almost 35 years and EDC'd it for a huge portion of that time.
I really wish the coldsteel voyager went back the older grip, I find the newer one harder on the hands over time. All though is does grip better. Awesome list. I have no clue on my top 3 carry knives, but I’m sure the mini Bastian bro knife. I can’t even remember the proper name of it or find it online. It has a d2 small blade
Original Benchmade 940 in s30v with those green handles, my plain Jane large sebenza 31 in s35vn, and my great eastern cutlery conductor. Those are my favorites right now, the 940 will probably never change as it was my first “high end” modern locking pocket knife but I could see the other two changing as time passes.
My top 3 folders: - Cold Steel Voyager Clip Point XL (5.5"). Full flat grind = great slicer. Great quality, strong knife. - Victorinox Alox Pioneer. Strong, high quality package with completely useful tools. Perfect EDC in Europe. - Brisa Enzo PK70 slip joint with carbon fibre handles, S30V blade. Beautiful quality for EDC in Europe.
Wowww cutlerylover this is a Fricking tough choice. i have the same dilemma. i have been saving knives for 40 years, so you know how it stands. my choice would be if i had to "choose: (1 > Tactical ) Cold Steel Gunsite Extra Large Voyager Blade: 5" (2 > Daily use) Spyderco Police C07 plain edge. (3> survival ) Extrema Ratio RAO Gen 1. But"" the best knife in the whole world. . Is the knife you carry with you 24/7. And "" not the $1200 custom knife, which is nice to look at in your closet. I "" wear my bench-made bugout 24/7. so that's the best knife.
Spyderco PM2 in K390, CH 3504 in S35vn titanium folder, Chris Reeve Large Inkosi,. Runner-up pic the Spyderco Caribbean. Thanks for the video very much appreciated I enjoy your content. 😎👍
I had to wait a long time to get my hands on exactly the same X2 Bowie and X2 Vaquero Grande in A condition. But now I made it ! Thanks a lot for the recommendation. I have a lot of other CS Mega Folders but these 2 are the ones which are most impressive and beautiful at the same time...
I don't have many knives in my collection and even with a Spyderco Paramilitary 2 I find myself wandering back to my Buck 110. Carried the Buck for five plus years now and it's become a knife I can't live without and often find it sneaking into my pocket along with my Spyderco and Kershaw Lucha either live edge or trainer and sometimes both. And usually with my ESEE 6 on my belt.
I will always say the best number one knife anyone has and can carry are the one's that come with its own story no matter what brand style or size those are the best. I really can't say I have a favorite number one with stories because the knives that have a story don't go in my pockets except for that one day ?
Mine would be my Spyderco Bushcraft UK for heavy duty work, my Benchmade 940 Osborne for general use & my Spyderco Subway (neck knife) for use in moist other situations! ~ LoL
My favorite three would have to be my Buck 110 slim (with pocket clip) my cold steel voyager XL (clip point) and my victorinox pioneer (with blue alox scales)👍🏻
The 3 folding knives I'd own if that were my limit would be the Cold Steel Pocket Bushman, the Victorinox Solo Alox, and the CRKT Hootenanny. One for camping and outdoor activites, one for formal events, and one for EDC
Man that's tough if I could only own 3 blades . I would more than likely choose .. Spyderco Manix 2 XL S35VN.. Bark River Gunny Scandi CPM 3V.. Bark River Bravo 1 CPM 3V
I had a microtech I didn't care for that the only knife I can say I truly carried and I carried every single day for about 4 and a 1/2 years was a Benchmade mini Infidel And then it went through the dryer And at all fell apart so I have to send it in
Absolute quality, Jeff you have been making great content, I remember your video on “good vs bad knives” just being posted, shout out from San Francisco -Mario
“Games” like this are fun. When I worked at Amazon, we proposed a scenario where you had 5 eternal beer taps at home or dispenser racks that perpetually refilled cans or bottles or a combo of any of the three. The game was choosing 5 beers you’d always have an unlimited supply of. It didn’t stop you from going to buy other beer, so you weren’t stuck with only 5 beers forever. There was no rush to answer. It was even just fun to think about. Surprisingly, we didn’t always go for expensive or tough to find stuff. Sometimes, one of the answers was “Miller Lite” or something.
My top three would have to be my PM2 in S110V, my Protech Magic BR-1, and my lionsteel Gitanto. On great user, a dressier slip joint, and my favorite automatic knife.
My only three folding knives? Spyderco shaman, case large stockman and ZT 0095bw. If i could only have 3 in general then the shaman, esee 6 and case large stockman.
No SAK of any kind? Without my "Fieldmaster" I would've been lost. So many situations, repairs ,and rescues with that model knife, they're countless. Add a "firefly" instead of the toothpick and you've a great tool that gives you more options if you need them. Any Mora( a fixed blade as easy as a folder to use), just about any Buck, any Cold Steel or Spyderco, or Schrade, or Esee, etc. Like you said there are soooo many!
Just 3? I'll try: Spyderco Para 2, Benchmade Mini Griptilian, Spyderco Yojumbo. Backup list is the Benchmade Bugout, ZT 0562, Emerson CQC. Cold Steel Broken skull was replace by the Yojumbo, still love it though.
Endura 4 is my EDC. I've carried it for about 7 years now. Honestly it's so good, I could make it with this as my only folding knife and I'd still be happy.
@@southerncountryboy8 thats nice to know because i plan on keeping my delica forever and people have been claiming they develop vertical play overtime.
For me as far as favorite models it would probably have to be the Buck 305 lancer, Case #08 half whittler , and the GEC H20 belt knife. I may not be able to have any of these knives though unless theres a stipulation for sentimental knives I don't use, because I have more than 3 that are irreplaceable.
2012 special edition victorinox cadet (red), brown scaled PM2 and my sentimental knife is the schrade 100th boy scout annerversary stockman my mother gave me. The first two being my actual edc.
I remember when you made that video about your edc while riding your bicycle and you said you were paranoid the whole time your sebenza was going to fall out of that sheath. Cool picks for 3 forever knives.. I think it would be 90's uncle Henry' bear paw/ Spyderco harpy/RR Kamp king.
Number one would be my Lakota Lil'Hawk, hands down the best lock back ever made. Two, a Sanrenmu 710, the best budget folder ever. And three, my J.A. Henckels stag handle barlow, just 'cause the aesthetics are perfect. My knife collection is around five thousand right now, btw, so it's not an easy task to select just three, lol.
Spyderco Delica: Great everyday light use knife that handles most day to day chores with ease. Gen 2 Cold Steel Voyager Lg straight edge: Great Blade design, smooth action, solid steel choice (for those of us who sharpen) with a proven lock. Microtech Halo: Well.... because. 🤙
Great video my friend and thats a great 3 choice of knives. I own the Para 3 just like yours and love it and im gonna buy your COLD STEEL VOYAGER in the future. And I also own the CHRIS REEVES small SEBENZA and love it but also want the large SABENZA 31 but like you been wanting it for a very long time because of all the hype on them but never put the 450 out for one yet but will eventually. Take care buddy and have a nice holiday.
best knife is the endura 4 lwt, long blade, lightweight, thin, grippy, ambidextrous, strong lock, fast, slicey, I keep going back to it!! 940-2 I've been carrying
Heyyy I was hoping for the cold steel voyager That was my first actual non flea market non liquor store knife and it seems like it’ll last forever I also took your advice and put a snaggletoothmf on it and now it waves open every time
I know this was released 6 months ago but. Any state that you can't carry your firearm probably has a blade size restriction as well, don't get caught carrying a concealed weapon. Just saying
