Thank you for the tips! What did you do to get back into the study mindset? I am in a similar situation as you were and it's quite hard to sit down and concentrate when I had a much more 'active' environment before.
@doctor_ej

You eventually just get used to it just by the need to study, I just wish I was used to it when I started instead of like 6 months in 😂

Wow I’m glad we don’t have to have a passing step/comlex score before we start rotations, I scheduled my exams like a week before rotations start lol. Gonna need as much time as possible😅

Yeah every program has different policies on that. Our policy screwed me over pretty hard 😅 but at the end of the day, I did it to myself 🤦🏻

Hey Dr. EJ! What are your thoughts on M1 and M2 grades? I'm at a pass/fail school, but I sometimes stress myself out constantly trying to pull As on everything. Would love to hear your thoughts since you made it thru the process. Thanks and best of luck to you!!

They’re ok, my program was P/F, but I think if you averaged like 85% or below, you were in the bottom quarter of the class 😂 I think P/F is fine. It encourages collaboration instead of a cut throat environment, you just have to know that almost everyone is trying to do better than just pass and if you want to be top of your class, you most likely have to be scoring high As on everything. So yeah, just another way to decrease stress and allow easier collaboration between students

Can you do a video about the residency you did get into?
@doctor_ej

What would you want to know specifically? Day in the life vlogs cover the majority of it!

I know you’ve done a bunch of “studying in med school” videos before, but any advice you’d give yourself for the first 2 years looking back?
@doctor_ej
@doctor_ej 3 года назад
Yeah definitely! Maybe will touch on this in a future vid!

Since STEP 2 is cancelled, do you think that makes things more difficult or ? I'm confused as to why they cancelled it.
@doctor_ej
@doctor_ej 3 года назад
Only CS is canceled, not CK. And no it was mainly just a way to screen out foreign grads who couldn’t communicate in English effectively. Most Med schools have an extremely high pass rate on CS so unless you completely blew it off, or blanked on several cases, most students would pass easily.
@doctor_ej
@doctor_ej 3 года назад
And sorry, I think it will make it easier Bc it’s one less hoop to jump through. They canceled it Bc it was largely unpopular to begin with, and majority of the medical community wanted to phase it out (except for those who were obviously profiting from it.) Its an extremely expensive test and the standardized patients have to get paid as well. Covid basically just sped up the process of getting this exam removed because it’s unsafe to have that many students rotate through standardized patients

How long did you typically work out for when you actually got focused in college medschool? Just wondering.
@doctor_ej
@doctor_ej 3 года назад
College was insane. 1 hr in the am before classes and 4 hrs after classes. Just 1-2 hours in Med school
