I’ve yet to use my MMM on my 2017 2038R but I’ve had the actuator fixed twice once under warranty before even attaching the mower then they tried to fix it again during a service call trying to charge $200. That was an uncomfortable conversation removing that charge after the two year warranty ended. I’ve got a reason to try it out today so wish me luck. I am enjoying the Woodmaxx flail (hammer type) mower with hydraulic shift feature.

You really need to look at entering your tractor in the Indy 500 this year!! Your lap times around the field were impressive!!! 😂😂. I’ve had a 60” wide case mower on a DX33 tractor before and it was a mowing machine too! I never should have sold it either. I would cut the open wide open ground with it and fall back on the regular mower to cut the edges, under trees and tight spots with that. Don’t ever sell the belt deck!! Having a back up is price less. 👍

Thanks for sharing your experience I thought about selling that deck but you can’t get a lot for them so better to keep it as a back up

I had a mower deck with my 1025, and the only thing I ever used it for was cutting brush and weeds. I just set it at its highest point and dove in. It worked great for that. I enjoy mowing my lawn with a walk behind mower, so I never used my tractor for that. Besides, I have a lot of trees and obstructions in my yard and would have had to use the push mower for most of that anyway. Well, I got a new 3046 and didn't get the mower deck with it. I'll spend that extra money on a brush hog when the time comes. That will work fine keeping all of my trails cut and maintained...after I get them all built. I gave up trying to play keep up with you a long time ago. I'm especially glad about that since you got your skid steer! I would love to have one of those, but I'm running out of available space to store all of my stuff. My property is all hills, and I doubt that I can find a place to build a machine shed. I'm already working on filling a spot on the downhill side of my parking area, so I have a convenient spot to put my three trailers. I'll probably never have enough time to do all of my projects, but all the fun is in working on them. Love your channel! Keep it up!
@RockhillfarmYT
@RockhillfarmYT 2 года назад
Finding a good place to park my trailer is also a hassle for me. I think I’m going to sell a couple of them and just keep what I need now How’s that sawmill working out for you?
@marvindiamonjr.9631
@marvindiamonjr.9631 2 года назад
@@RockhillfarmYT Like everything else I own, that sawmill has to share its time with other projects. Hopefully this summer will be the time I will have a permanent place for it Hopefully a roof over it, too. Sawing logs in the rain is no fun, and we've had tons of rain this year so far. I do love having it around, though.

I have an older 2025R and I love cutting the fields and roadsides with the MMM on the KY farm. I adjust it pretty high and am very happy with the way it cuts. I drop the pallet forks and run the loader with nothing on it, and take off my ballast box, although I do have fluid in the tires. I am storing it all in a shipping container so I really don’t have room for a zero turn as well.

My grass (if you want to call it that) is like yours, typical rural field grass. I initially had issues cutting it, not quite thick and dense enought for bush-hogging but tall, thick, and damp/wet to make traditional mowing difficult. I mow with a Kubota ZT diesel 60" deck. Talking to my dealer about the cutting issues he suggested a set of Oregon G6 Gator Blades. The blades offered a better lift and better mulching than the traditional blades, he was right. It made a significant difference. Oh ya, the ZT kept getting stuck in the wet areas so I swapped out the turf tires for R4's now I don't get stuck.
@RockhillfarmYT
@RockhillfarmYT 2 года назад
Last year I did the experiment with a megmo blades and decided they weren’t giving a great cut but honestly the traditional don’t either I may try some of those high lift blades but I feel like my mower might just be a little under powered

At least you have plan B and plan C if the grass gets away from you. The rotary cutter on the skid steer would knock it down as a last resort. My rider crapped on me last year, and the backyard got away from me and turned into a nightmare!

@FireDude13
@FireDude13 2 года назад
Man that deck connects slick! My Mahindra isn't nearly that easy... lol. Have to manually connect the PTO and the front bracket... and a couple pins as well. I had always thought those stand up zero turns only worked well on manicured (or at least maintained) grass... More of a finishing mower. Just to take an inch or less off... but maybe not. I had issues with my EGO battery powered walk behind mower not cutting well either. It was OK but not like I expected. Then I did some research (on RU-vid of course), and found out the mulching blades are next to worthless unless you are one of these people that mow their yard 2 or 3 times a week. I swapped out the mulching blade with the included bagging blade and wow... what a difference! The bagging blade is much more aggressive with the lift... and it made for a much better cut. Once the spring grass explosion dies down I'll put the mulching plug back in and see how that bagging blade does as a mulcher...

I also bought my 2038R with a MMM. It does a good job mowing but the tractor is too heavy and hard to maneuver around the yard. If the ground is wet it will leave deep tracks everywhere. Unfortunately, my 60D is collecting dust in my garage. An expensive mistake. I bought a ZT-930M and couldn't be happier. It cut down my mowing time in half.

Do you think the tractor weight is too heavy for the spring wet ground? I am looking at a 3046R cab or a 2025R w Mauser main use would be snow removal and leaf clean up/ mowing when it’s cold!hah I know I’m weak in the up north cold. I’m guessing 2025R would be better for mowing\ leaf cleanup due to the turning radius and weight but 3046 for comfort and snow! Hah can’t afford both unfortunately.

in my experience, lawnmowers are only good for finish grass, cutting just 1/3 of material off and either mulching the grass or shooting out.grass wet or tall or thick, shitty cut definitely. even baby weeds, don't get cut on my John deere. in your case, i would get an attachment for finish mower on skid steer or use what you have on your mower, sharpen blades every other cut. maybe sell the smaller stand up zero turn, thats more of a 1 acre, finished grass homeowner lot in town thats cut on a weekly basis. your'e in a different category there at rockhill farm.

Nice video! I've got a 72D for my 3046R and I also forgot to lower the lift mechanism the first time I tried to hook it up this season. Mine doesn't have the actuator for height, I have to set the height with a sliding bar with a bunch of holes. It's simple, but kind of trial and error to figure out the cut height you want. I find that 3 point turns are easiest most of the time. That is if RIO is disabled! I can't understand why Deere puts that on tractors that have rear PTOs. I"m not supposed to mow backwards, but I can run a snowblower or bush hog or forestry mulcher from the rear PTO while going backwards! Anyway, simple software fix on the 2R and 3R thankfully.

Somebody splain the benefit of this over a 3-point finish mower. I bought a comparable sized machine that is painted a different color. At one point I was headed for a sub compact (ie deere 1025) with a mmm with the idea I’d be rid of my lawn mower. I’m a homeowner with maybe 1/4 acre of grass to mow. So it barely made sense. Then I got hooked on a larger machine with more capacity. Now it just does dirt and woods work. I could never justify the couple thousand $ for a mmm. And I expect it’ll be a cold day before I run across a used mmm that fits my machine. Dealer told me to expect $2500-3000 with the mid pto and bracket kits required. Meanwhile I see smaller universal 3-pt finish mowers used all the time for well under $1000. Are mid mount mowers really that much more agile??
@RockhillfarmYT
