My daughter struggles with her ADHD and when you were telling us your symptoms it is what I see every day with her. Thank you for sharing. She is not on any meds for it. But takes for anxiety and depression.

Nita, thank you for watching!!! But moreso for taking the time to share your daughter's story. It sounds like she has support I hope more kiddos (and adults) get. I'm assuming the meds for depression/anxiety have helped her, ya? Sending her and you much love, and hopes that the world gives her grace and support. 💖

I definitely relate to some of the symptoms you mentioned but would say that the parts i see in myself are the symptoms that are also strongly associated with autism, Thank you for sharing these sides to your personality & what makes you, You, Never feel ashamed 💛 It's so important to take the time to understand people or at least try to, I hate when people like some of your co workers you mentioned just brush people aside without even trying to understand.

Thank you, Roy 💛 I'm really excited (and nervous) to go through the Autism assessment and discuss that, see how much we share there. I feel like the ADHD aspects are more disruptive to the things I do, where the Autism aspects are more disruptive to others, if that makes sense? I totally agree and I think it bugs me more that some are also on teams about diversity but show no attempt to understand those to which they are claiming to represent. As shared in Discord though, it's why we must give that energy to explaining only to those receptive and curious of it.

Oh the irony in me sitting down to watch this only to forget I'm watching it and get distracted and start walking around the house doing other stuff. When that's said, I love hearing other people talk about their ADHD because it makes me feel so normal, like I'm actually not just weird or broken. Like hey, I do that. And if others do it too, and they're ok, it's ok for me to do it as well. 😁 Like literally spinning around in circles when I forget what I'm doing, just trying to figure out what the hell I was in the middle of. Was I putting away groceries? Was I putting away the clean dishes? Was I getting something? My mind was busy singing a song while thinking of a made-up scenario so who the hell knows! Sometimes I just give up and go do something else, hoping I'll remember and come back to it later.

Haha!!! Right?! Same, same, same, girl! It's other people I've watched that have made me not only feel seen but also not feel like it's 'my fault' per say, which is where some of that shame can be lifted. It was my hope that I can be that for others but being vulnerable. And I think some reading your comment might go, but everyone does that sometimes. Ya, keyword, sometimes. This is a commonplace thing (almost every day for me) for people like us. Is it weird I'm glad we have this in common? Mostly because I know we're not alone in the world.

Thank you for sharing, it's always good to try and make these things more aproachable as a subject and reduce the stigma around it. Never feel bad about having adhd, feel proud for embracing that and being able to talk about it and learn to cope with it. Wether its adhd, autism, borderline or any other such thing, people should never feel ashamed. Its okay. You are still worth every damn thing you'd want to be worth!

Thank you so much, Ian!!! ❤️ I almost sometimes forget there is a stigma about it until I have to explain to a neurotypical person or feel like I need to meet 'social norms.' I absolutely agree!!!! You said it better than I would. 🥰

I'm high masking ADHD with predominantly with inattentive. The first video I watched of yours over on the Harry Potter channel and immediately said to myself, "She's got ADHD, too. 😊" I just got diagnosed 3 years ago. I'm in my 40s. It's been a struggle but I like to think of adhd as both my superpower and my kryptonite. Is it truly a superpower? Nope but some of the things that make us different can be advantageous. Our brains are amazingly frustrating! 😂❤ I just recently started taking medication after 3 years holding off. I asked for the lowest dose...like 10mg one pil daily... And I do notice a difference. The constant narration and multiple conversations and songs in my mind reduced by about half. For the first time in my life, I didn't have soundtrack playing in the background in my head. I cried like a weirdo because some of the mental noise quieted. Some of the side effects are a bit scary so I am only going to take it every other day but I'm on this path now... I hope I don't trip. Lol!

Was it that obvious in my videos? hehe 😜 What kind of side effects did you have, if you don't mind me asking? Don't feel you have to share if not comfortable. I'm strongly considering meds, and side effects and long-term issues were some of the things I was looking into. I've just heard mostly amazing things for how they've helped people like me and you.

@@BeyondLoveLumos I don't mind at all! I started adderall 10 MG slow release about a week ago so I dont have a lot of noticeable side effects. However, it does give me a feeling like when I take Sudafed or drink too much coffee lol. I mean, it's a stimulant so that was expected. It just seems to level me out a bit and let me choose to focus on what I need to do. It did make me have less of an appetite. My interest in snacking decreased completely. It also took me a bit longer getting to sleep. I'm not big on taking meds in general because I have a tendency to forget to take them so I'm hoping that a pill every other day or when I'm feeling particularly overwhelmed will be a good plan. If not, I'll stop taking it and be my charming chaotic self again. 🤣

Great conversation as usual and very enlightening for many people I’m sure. I definitely do not have ADHD but I certainly feel you on some of the symptoms. One of my worst traits, and one I criticise myself for regularly, is talking over people. I always tell myself I won’t do it again, but my brain goes into overdrive and I can’t help finishing people’s sentences and jumping in with what I want to say. I don’t mean it to be rude but I know it comes across as such. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ I think it’s sad that we feel bad about our traits and I’m certainly an expert on masking as people never know when I’m upset with them or annoyed etc. it’s interesting what you were saying about rejection as I’ve learnt not to ask for things as I worry that I will be told no and I get very anxious about it. I never realised that was a trait! Again thank you for being open and having these conversations even though they are difficult. One trait I’m glad we share is having a special interest and it’s one that has drawn many of us together 💙💙💙

Totally same! I don't do it as much at work because I don't feel I can easily unmask (though I've done that more) or feel safe around others but with Matt, oh boy do we talk over each other. 🤣 I think there's a word for that, and it's not coming to me, of avoiding doing the thing that might lead to rejection. I totally get that. TOTALLY glad we have that in common! Special interests is something I'm definitely going to hit on when discussing Autism. It's one of my favorite traits! ⚡️✨💖

What an honest and vulnerable video, Aubrey ❤ I’ve suspected that I’m autistic since my teenage years, though I never sought a diagnosis. My husband takes amphetamine for ADHD. I definitely think you should consider it if that’s an option. Thanks for sharing!
@BeyondLoveLumos
@BeyondLoveLumos 3 месяца назад
Thank you so much, Kurt! 🥰 You're much more informed than I. I don't think my teenage self would have ever had autism on my radar. Though maybe I should have looking back. I did survive my intake and now have a list of therapists to slew through to go through the Autism assessment. I suspect that one will be more emotional for me. And thank you!!! I've considered meds to the point where my doctor already gave me the run down of options, approved it, and just said I need to give her the go. My only concern at this point is the shortage, and not being able to use it in the way intended. Is your husband having any issues with the shortage or does he just take it when he feels he needs it? Thank you so so much for watching!! 💖 (Also, proud of myself to replying with the proper account. The number of times I've replied with my L&L account. 🤦‍♀)
