My Airstream is FOR SALE 

Yes, that really is footage of the moment that my very Airstream was born. And the last video footage I made of it. A sad day, but it will soon all make sense, I promise 😁

Andrew - you may not know it or you may choose not to accept it but you are an inspiration to so many people. You’re inspirational to not just those who own or want caravans/campervans or motorhomes but an inspiration to those who yearn adventure. Those single people like me who need that reassurance that you can go it alone but still feel part of a community. You’re an inspiration to those who want that slice of Scottish culture. I could go on. On a personal note, you’ve been inspirational to my mental health. Every time I watch your videos I smile. The music, the cinematography and the fun you bring is inspiring. Of course- you can 100% cry a year in letting the airstream go but in life, we should all be aiming to collect memories, not things. I’m 100% assured that whatever comes next will enable memories to be made. I feel guilty that it’s an exciting time for us as readers to embark upon this new chapter with you. Thank you for having us along with you for the ride. Keep in tune with yourself throughout the selling process and reassure yourself that positivity will come with change. There’s memories scattered out there- your challenge? Go collect them! Keep up the good work and thank you again for sharing your journey with us. :)

Like so many others I have enjoyed following yourself and Dougal on your physical and emotional journey for the past three years or more. Always to be relied on for honest opinions and that is what made your channel so successful and admired. No doubt Dougal was properly consulted about your decision and heartily agreed.

My goodness, just watched this and was overcome with emotion. What a journey you and your Airstream had and the closing scene with you and your beloved Dougal cuddled together beside the fire pit alongside your Airstream in the waning light of dusk with the calm, soothing sounds of the ocean ... well that just finished me. Good luck Andrew with your new rig and new chapter. You probably won't remember but we met you (and Dougal!) a couple of times on the same trip to the Outer Hebrides in May 2015. We parked next to you at Cnip in our VW California with Bella our nervous black Labrador. We enjoy following your channel. Inspirational.

2022 seems to be shaping up into a year of change for everyone (not all of it good, admittedly), and that's certainly the case for me personally. So while I'm rather sad that the Airstream has reached the end of your particular road (and therefore by definition, those of your faithful audience), I'm looking forward to seeing what you do next. I can see from the comments below that several people have already intimated as much, but your awesome videos were a real source of strength for me during the dark early days of lockdown and nothing's changed in the intervening months and years. Good luck with the next phase, fella - can't wait to see what's hoving in over the horizon for Team Ditton! :-)

Well! What an unexpected end of an era! What a journey and what a “trusty stead (we won’t mention the axle!)” to journey with, be cosseted and inspired by and now on to the next bit of excitement; better suited to the next set of fabulous adventures! Your video reminds me of the Einstein quote I printed on my themes/inspirations for the year page in my planning journal: “Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.” I’m not sure we’re all going to be able to contain ourselves until 25th you know…!

Hi Andrew, Yours was one of the first Vlogs I ever watched whilst trying to decide whether to buy a caravan or motorhome (around 2017 or 18). My partner wanted a motorhome whilst I wanted a caravan. Our journeys would always involve our 2 dogs. Your vlog basically came down to choosing between the journey or the destination. Our eventual decision was to buy a secondhand caravan with a promise that if Sheila didn't like the choice we could bin it and move onto a motorhome. Luckily for me She loves the caravan and we're waiting on delivery of a brand new caravan to continue our adventures. So from both of us thank you for your insight, knowledge and helpful Vlogs. I love your airstream but I also love change and can't wait for the big reveal! Since speaking at the NEC about the holy grail of motorhomes( non transverse bed that can carry e-bikes and under 7m) I have decided to love my current campervan and not list it until what I want is invented - or you find and review one! I shall be watching this space and wish you and Dougal all the best in the new adventure.

Andrew, I love your videos and spend a lot of my time trying to decide between caravan, camper van or motorhome. A beautiful airstream provides the cool of a camper van, but let’s you take a car with you. If you don’t have a buyer yet, I would be interested - I know they are not cheap, but none of the good ones are, so I am seriously interested. I know from the channel how much care has gone in to it.

It was nostalgic seeing this video - I vividly remember reading about your travels with the ABI Adventurer and later the Sterling in the various caravan magazines over the years. I remember the trials and tribulations of living in the van and things like getting the refillable gas system fitted. I've always had a soft spot for the ABI Adventurer, I remember it wasn't well received at the time and you were perhaps seen as a bit bonkers if you bought one! I can relate to your journey though; I find myself caravan-less too at the moment (but hopefully not for long!) as things were sold to make way for big changes. Your happiness is the most important thing, and even if people don't understand why you're parting company with this iconic caravan, I completely get it. And there's still a 1970 Thomson Glenelg sat in my barn that's calling your name... 😜Take care x

Dunno if you follow Foxes Afloat on YT? Two guys who have lived on canal boats for yonks and travelled - they sold their boat The Silver Fox late last year and did a bit of hire boat touring of the canals, rivers and lochs of Scotland. Last Friday they announced that they aren't getting another boat as planned but are like you evolving and have bought some land to start a small holding.........in Scotland. Seems to me the recent events like Covid 19 and Brexit have curtailed peoples movements and caused them to re-assess what they want from life ( even I decided to pack in working ) but clearly the thing that runs through both your stories is Scotland - I can see some of us need to come and explore to see what we have been missing out on. I can’t believe you’re selling your Airstream after all your adventures in it and the long wait to have it fixed and returned to you. I do appreciate that now you have a permanent home it might seem too cumbersome for shorter trips away but even so….!!! I’ll be fascinated to see what you do next. It seems to be a time for changes. My dad died last year and my family base is now sold and I’m selling my little campervan to buy a larger van conversion with a washroom.

I discovered your channel only yesterday and have been watching videos on smaller caravans. I've been enjoying the videos so far and my wife loves Dougal. Something stood out in this video though promoting me to comment, your old photographs. In particular a car you used to have as I currently own a 1997 Mégane Coupe in Sunflower yellow which was the basis for the start of my channel. If I were to embark on caravaning though I think it would be the modern daily car though that would be more suited.

You are absolutely right but it is a brave thing to do. I’m sure a next set of wonderful experiences are around the corner for you and my favourite canine 🥰

I get emotionally attached to cars, motorcycles and caravans and always regret selling them. I sold my 50 year old Honda CB750 last year, and still have sleepless nights over it. If I'd owned an Airstream from new for several years I don't think I could part with it. Any other replacement caravan or even a motorhome would be a bit, "after the Lord Mayor's Show" because the Airstream is a bit of a campsite star, quite a rare sight in the UK and Europe. It's also an appreciating asset, and in motorcycle terms it's probably similar to owning a Vincent Black Shadow.

Gosh , Andrew really.really enjoyed seeing this video and all your caravanning history , and soooo, many wonderful happy memories of life's experiences , I personally loved your Airstream, Nivarra, and Triumph, Cafe Racer Rig but as you have so eloquently explained nothing is forever and needs must to move on in this ever changing world , best of luck , stay safe and good health for further adventures on the road ahead , happy travels , hugs

Given these days of high inflation and the rarity of these trailers it'll probably be a better investment than shares or money sat in the bank. There will always be a market for rare items and let's face it they are quite rare and iconic..

That will be a big wrench for you. As I know you are aware when life needs to move on it has to move on to avoid any stagnation. All the very best for whatever new direction you take and I'm sure we all look forward to wherever that takes you.

Sad but our lives change so our needs do too. You had fantastic times in the Airstream which you will never forget, it’s time for something different. I hope whoever buys it will make their memories.

Well, we did the pilgrimage today to see the inspiration for us starting caravanning. It's actually very dinky when you see it, but there's a lot packed in to it. We could imagine Dougal curled up on the seats with the Outer Hebrides out the window. I'm sure someone is going to have many happy adventures in it!

You have been blessed with being able to follow your id. I wondered if changes were coming when you made the decision to not travel long distances with Dougal. Looking forward to watching what your future adventures will be!
