@@garythdragon Suga is a male sugar glider. That spot on his head (and one on his chest) are perfectly normal and natural for him. It is where the boys have scent glands. It just means that Suga is a mature boy.

@@garythdragonIf a male Sugar Glider is not neutered, they will develop a greasy sort of “bald” spot on their forehead as they begin to enter puberty (usually starting around 8-12 months of age). This is completely normal, and it is one of three scent glands used by the male to mark his mate, his offspring, and his territory.

Sometimes there is nothing you can do to prevent the demise of another living creature, all we can do is keep trying and keep caring for those we love. We lost a couple of fish ourselves this month they just got so thin and passed away even though I tried so very hard to make sure there was food for them.. I feel so heartbroken but it's nature, they did have a full life, no diseases that I could see and the remaining fish are all fine.

how would you help restore the insect ecosystem in a city where it was decimated? growing up here in bucharest there were ant hills, walls full of caterpillars, spiders, bumblebees and all sorts of crawlies... now it s mosquitoes and flies and cockroaches... and rarely you encounter an ant line... what can we do? i imagine nodes of life, like sculptures in a city, like an oasis...

Just because I hope that you read my comment: your crayfish belongs to the species Procambarus clarkii - the red swamp crayfish, Louisiana crayfish or mudbug. The color morph is called 'ghost'. This is the only crayfish species in the hobby with this coloration and the morphological characters fit as well :) I commented the same info at your previous video where the crayfish was introduced but I doubt that you saw it. There I also warned that this species is a ferocius eater in regards to plants. The shrimps are to small and fast for it to catch - as were the fish. Therefore, I guess that he ate the fish after they died of other causes. Edit: wuhu! You read it! 🎉😁

As a keeper of a lot of sugar gliders, I love this video! The addition of your adopted sugar glider makes me excited for that dedicated video of him. I knew already that he is a male because of that bald spot in his head. Male sugar gliders like to rub their head against the female to pass on his scent, sort of marking his territory, and giving affection to his mate or mates. He also do this to the joeys. In taming a sugar glider, I would suggest to put a piece of cloth near him. Not a regular clean cloth, but a cloth with your sweat in it. I know it's unsanitary but this is the technique that was taught to me by the breeders and keepers before me and it was effective! As of right now, I have a quite a few sugar gliders and I would love to give you some advice as well on how to keep them. Just hit me up, Mikey! Good luck on keeping him and I hope that you may have joeys soon!

@kennethtabinas6897 Год назад
@@m.a.ddragon939 at some scenarios, they do that. To the point that they bang their heads inside the cage and let themselves bleed out. But in Sugar's situation, the bald spot in his head is caused by rubbing it hard on its mate. It really causes them to get bald on the top of their heads and even on their chest (they do rub it too).

In Volcania ... for fish... consider something like a school of neon tetras or other tiny fish that might be more available in your area. They are very small and should be more difficult for the crayfish to catch. The other day I found a small type of tetra here called a head light tail light tetra.... they have amazingly reflective/glowing areas by each eye and at their tail. So cool! I may add them to my turtle's rive tank. He also eats fish. Some I put there on purpose to give him something to hunt. But there's always some small fish that he has a hard time catching and can hid in the rocks. They usually last a long time.

Its possible tbe meele bugs were the reason your last attempt to keep them failed. It may be an important part of there diets

I believe this is the case! There must be some really essential nutrients in the honeydew that can't be provided through common sweet foods in captivity.

please don't use negative clickbait to get people to watch your videos. Especially if that click bait implies death. I'm a long-time subscriber and I know your content is great and it doesn't need negative clickbait to get people to watch it. Especially if it's something like the implied death of a well-established colony. our ant love makes us view these well-established colonies like your pets, the equivalent of a dog or cat. sure, we know not to get our hopes up with royals or small colonies because we know that they're the weakest then, and it's more likely they'll die. that and they haven't been around for very long, so there's not been a lot of time to become attached. But people are invested and attached to your larger colonies, and implying their death is almost as bad as if someone with channel revolving around their dogs/cats implying that one of their animals died, only to find out that it's not true and you made us feeling anxious/depressed for what? views? i'm gonna watch anyway. your other subscribers will watch anyway. we don't want that kind of negative suspense. it sours our watching experience and can put us off of watching your videos. so please don't play with our emotions like that.

So sorry to hear about the Queen Weaver Ant. Yes, death is part of the hobby, but it's rather unfortunate that she's gone, as I really want to see you raise a large and successful Weaver Ant colony again. May she rest in peace :( Also, yes. I'd love to see a dedicated video on Sugah, he looks like such a cutie! :3

It has been a few years since I have watched one of your videos. I've been with you since since before you had good quality cameras to capture the content you do and I religiously waited for your once or twice weekly videos. Last I was here your Ant House was still under construction and you were taking in some truly wonderful projects. You continue to be an inspiration even to this day. The quality of the footage you capture, the unique perspective you have always worn, and the way you compile the clips and talk about it. Your passions shines oh so true. I am happy to be back to continue watching your videos as I have enjoyed watching your channel grow from the red fire ants you started with to the sanctuary it is today. I've learned to much about ants and look forward to seeing more of your content. Warm wishes.

My condolences for the deaths...this is the hard part of keeping pets. I would know; I've rescued over 1,500 exotics within 7 yrs and I myself have had plenty of passings...it's unfortunate but at least you know you're taking the best care of them...nobody cares about ants this much; most people just shove them in those weird gel things, but you go "all out" and provide ecosystems for each species...I hope you know you take great care of them and if they were humans, they'd be thankful to get free food and housing lol

Huh🤔, 1:44 There's something that feels kinda right about the waters of Volcania being ruled by red creatures with exoskeletons like the lands of Volcania are. "As above, so below" 😄👍

Umm, 3:40 Maybe Weaver Ants need more natural air flow? Or maybe it's just been an unlucky couple of tries? I'm sure some day there will be more and they will thrive. 😄👍

Interesting how RU-vid's algorithm is flowing. I haven't gotten any notifications from your channel in a long time. Now out of nowhere RU-vid starts showing me notifications from your channel after I recently discovered a massive and I mean MASSIVE carpenter ant colony in my front yard at my parent's house. While I was at my parent's house not too long ago I helping my dad feed the dogs and cats in the yard and I just saw droves and and droves of ant lines headed down by their front porch where their hose pipe and window AC unit was. They was getting a drink of water. I fallowed the direction the lines was heading towards. I saw there was a line headed to a few pieces of dog food on the ground that must of fell out of the food bowl from yesterday. I kept fallowing the lines until i reached the edge of the yard by the woods and tucked under my mother's azalea bushes was a left over log from a tree that got cut down a couple years ago. The log had to be 4-5 feet long by almost 2 feet round. All the ant lines converged to that massive log. So with the high amount of ants I saw running around the yard I know for a fact that giant log is packed for of carpenter ants. I just don't remember what species that was. From where I'm located they might be either Camponotus Pennsylvanicus or Floridanus. I haven't had a chance to really look look at them. Next time I'm free and at my parent's house I may do a short video.

I'm going to vote No on the Suga video. As I think it would only encourage the exotic animal trade. Sugar gliders are incredibly cute but they are not pets, I'm sure you're doing the best you can for this adoptee but it's so sad to see him in a cage when his range would be enormous in the wild

Sugar gliders are fun but the dietary needs are so much. I spent more a week on mines food than I did on myself. Those things eat better than most people do

Check the water parameters with a Water Test kit for aquariums, probably it's due to a spike in ammonia.
