You have a great approach to collecting, Mark. Good focus. The Hodges bread card is a well-loved beauty. Your '55 Dodger Bowmans are classics!

Thanks! Appreciate it. I wasn’t even really that much of a fan of that set but after getting them and looking more closely they’re kinda growing on me.

Great share and thanks hope that you enjoy the nationals this year. I am the same way. I do not have a whole heck of a lot of cards that i have ever dropped over $500 on. Great 55 Topps cards. Enjoyed and thanks for sharing with us,

I admire your intelligent economic approach to building your Dodgers sets. Back in the day, I had a buddy who focused his collection on Jewish athletes of all sports, and I sure learned some fascinating things from him. For instance, I would never have guessed that Rod Carew was Jewish. Well, my buddy died too soon, rest his soul, but I remember him fondly.

Sorry about your friend. May his memory be a blessing. Interestingly, Rod Carew despite the Adam Sandler song, isn't actually Jewish, though he did raise his kids Jewish.

Whats so great you show the commons also, player cards I've never seen B4. Got a kick out of Don Zimmer! Never seen that Tip Top B4. Yep, budget is the key.

Thanks Mike! I love the commons. I'm building team sets so getting them is a big part of the challenge.

Awesome! Cool strategy on pulling out Dodgers and then reselling the lot. Got back into collecting last year after a 31 year break and I kind of do a little of everything, mainly hall of famers. But decided last week to do a Dodger thing similar to yours. But just LA Dodgers at this point. I’m glad I found your channel!

Great approach Mark! Love those 55 Bowman’s they look amazing. I think I only own two cards that I paid over $400. I want to buy some bigger cards soon and I am putting together a strategy to sell off some duplicates to fund them. Thanks for sharing, looking forward to seeing the new Greenberg!

Thanks so much! Hard to justify spending that kind of money without selling some things to pay for them. Good luck with doing that. What are you going for?

Thanks and good luck finding one you like. Tough to find. I’d like to get the snider but don’t really want to pay the big bucks for it.

Great stuff Mark. Enjoyed hearing your approach as a fellow team collector. Do you store you team sets in binders? I have all my 60s to current in 9 pocket pages and all my 50s in card savers in 4 pocket pages. Just wondering how you do it! Great 55 bowman’s. My email is in my profile. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you want to talk team collecting or cards in general! Enjoyed as always.

Thanks so much! I have all my cards in card savers in boxes and also graded cards in boxes. I thought about binders, but they take up more space. For sure will reach out.

Nice set of cards. The Topps 1958 set of Dodger cards look sharp, but the set has perplexed me, the set looking too sharp. Was it not the first season in Los Angeles for the Dodgers, leaving Brooklyn, New York. I'm surprised and impressed that the art/graphics department at Topps had the "LA" insignia on the cap of players featured on their cards. Many times, when teams have for one of the following reasons: city relocation/team name change/new franchise, the players will be wearing no caps or an 'air brushed" cap (from a previous photo) for that first season. Since it was the first year for the Giants in San Francisco, I noticed their cap logo/insignia looked much like the PCL San Francisco Seals (minor league baseball team which existed before the arrival of the Giants), on Topps SF Giants player cards. Perhaps it was the cap insignia the SF Giants used their first season, or perhaps the Topps art/graphics department was not sure what the actual insignia the SF Giants were planning on using.

Thanks! I’m not sure how they did the hats but I just know they are all LA. None are in action except the mays/snider and Alston/snider which look like photos from games. Not sure how they did them all.

And haven’t really examined the Giants. I’ll have to look at those. Thanks!
