I created this channel to share my cards and connect with other vintage baseball card collectors. As the name suggests, my collection is focused on Dodgers cards.
Awesome collection with such a wide variety of scarce cards. I collect Joe Wood from the same era and wish that he had the depth of cards from different sets that Wheat has. Thanks for sharing with us.
Really awesome Wheat collection. My two favorites were the triple fold and the Fatima. Thought those were really neat. Thanks for sharing, enjoyed as always.
Pre-Great Depression star cards will hold their values, that's for sure. Did you ever get any Dazzy Vance or Babe Herman cards? That team card is a treasure. And the W573s are among the most elegant cards ever produced.
Thanks so much! I do have a Babe Herman and a couple Dazzy Vance. I'd like to get more of them, but it'll take some time. Also have Burleigh Grimes - trying to have at least one example of all the greats as I build out my collection.
That's a lot of Zack Whewt cards. He has a lot of nice looking cards! I didn't realize you already owned the 1915 Cracker Jack. Are you trying to complete both of CJ Dodger team sets?
Thanks! I’m going for all of them eventually 🤣 But my CJ efforts are a little half hearted and intermittent. I’m trying to grab when I can but only have three total (2 ‘15s and 1 ‘14) so will take a long time, especially with what I allocate for card budget.
Great channel, keep up the great work!!! My favorite Dodgers card believe it or not is the 1981 Topps Fernando Valenzuela rookie card. It always brings back fond memories of the impact he not only had on baseball when he broke into the majors, but the craze of his rookie card in the hobby. To me, it was the rookie card that started the rookie card craze.
Mark, it was a pleasure to finally meet you in Cleveland! congrats on the eckersly/gibson ticket!!! You're a great collector, and you have a great channel as well ...... I enjoy very much watching your videos. I will be putting out a video shortly recapping my extraordinary experience in Cleveland, meeting many RU-vidrs and all fellow collectors who were in Cleveland.. health and happiness to You my friend... Jonathan ... aka..... the Boston kid.p..s.......extrodinary pickups ! especially the hack Wilson ...what a beauty!!!
Thanks so much and that’s so generous. Was great to meet you too and see your awesome pickups. You did well! Look forward to seeing your recap. Was such a great time!
Hey Mark! I love all the cards but that autographed World Series ticket is awesome! It’s one of my favorite items that I’ve seen from any of the recap videos. Thanks for sharing!
Great pickups, and it's fantastic to have connected with another Dodgers fan. Love the Wheat and the Koufax Peel Off. Thanks a lot for the shout outs too! The Eckersley autograph with the Gibson gives you a great one of one. Wonderful to have gotten to know you.
Mark these are fantastic pickups for your team sets. Big congrats on getting the ekersley auto! It was a pleasure meeting you and talking with you. Don’t hesitate to reach out anytime through email or text. Have a good week. Can’t wait to see the returns when they come back!
Hey Mark what a great haul. All those 60s cards are in really nice shape. Highlights for me were the peel offs the sweet caporal pins the wilson but the one that stood out was the Zach Wheat. That is a really great image of him. Congrats on all I think you did very well 👍
Thanks so much! I was super happy with all of it. But I agree- the older pre war stuff is coolest to me. I’ll be doing a video on my Zack Wheat collection sometime in the near future. Thanks for watching!
Absolutely awesome meeting you my friend! I am so happy you are part of this community! You did awesome at this show and added some real gems to your collection.
That 1955 Charlie Neal is fascinating. Neal did not actually play a regular season game in the majors till 1956, but Bowman sure made a good prediction of an honorable career. Shades of the last few decades, when companies seem to be rushing out cards of young players when they can barely shave!
Mark, I’m so happy for you finding the ‘33 Goudey Mr. Hack Wilson. This is such an iconic card. I also appreciate MLBers that are about the same height as me 😂. It was also fantastic finally meeting you. 🤜🤛
Nice set of Dodger cards. I think Messersmith won a Cy Young award with the Dodgers, sometimes him being referred to as "The Baron" (because of the same name as the German WW II fighter airplane, although I don't think there was any family relation/connection). May have been acquired by the Dodgers in that blockbuster deal with the Angels. If not traded, would have been a dominant Angels staff of Nolan Ryan, Andy Messersmith and Frank Tanana.
Thanks and very cool info. I don’t think he won a cy young but was second one year. Your comment prompted me to look up more about him. Didn’t realize how central he was to free agency. Thanks for the comment!
I'm glad you were able to make it. It's ironic that missing a plane last year is what got me into the RU-vid world, as that is how I met Dylan on the shuttle after the new flight. But still so frustrating when you made the plans. . I hope you got all of your goals accomplished on the trip, and it was wonderful to meet you.
Fantastic trade and congratulations on the huge pickup! Wow, what an amazing card, beautiful my friend. It was also awesome getting to meet you in person. So happy for you!
