I feel like there are some nuances here that is really common in “modern guitar” or as I would call it “worship guitar” sounds that people outside of that sphere maybe dont really understand. I personally, like the sound with the amps. I think it cuts through a mix better, it gives it a bit more sparkle, and depth in my opinion. As someone who’s done professional sound, and plays multiple instruments. Being able to articulately hear each instrument while seamlessly blending into each-other is a really hard thing to do.. in fact I had to learn how to do that playing in deathcore bands probably more so than anything, but also in worship music having so many different instruments playing pad or droning types of sounds. It really becomes critical to be able to have clarity to them for front of house and the in ear or monitor mixes. Great explanation! I love the tones. One day I’ll have a hx or helix and be picking up your tones. I think they are incredible.

Clean signal = guitar >>>amp An “unclean” lol signal would be guitar >>>literally anything before >>>amp. Pretty simple. We aren’t taking distorted vs non-distorted. Great vid.

New subscriber from Kansas. Very interesting video. I'm learning that my amp doesn't need to be cranked to ten to get a desirable sound. Let me ask you, what do you mean by a pedal "taking" to an amp? As a young player, I owned a distortion pedal. I used it only on my clean channel. At that time, I thought they were exclusively used for an amp that doesn't have built-in, high-gain capability. I didn't realize players were using them to push their gain levels up or even as an eq or booster. My distortion pedal through my clean channel had a tinny sound to it. Is that what you mean when you a pedal my bot take to an amp? I love this content BTW. 🙏

Hey! Thank you for subscribing 🙏🏼. Yeah, in a nutshell some amps just don’t take pedals very well. Specifically grit pedals. They tend to sound brittle. Of course not all amps are built the same and each type has its purposes. However, as a pedal lover, I want to use an amp that’s known for being a “pedal platform” amp. Tends to lend itself more to the variation in tones I personally gravitate to.
