My Art Style Journey So Far 

Very relatable. I think when you get frustrated and quit something, but eventually return to it that's quite telling that it's too important for one to give up on too easily. Maybe it means that the number of attempts doesn't even matter. I've started and scrapped countless game projects, never getting far, but for some reason I keep coming back.

For anyone who came from her last video and wants to be a creator now (like me), this video is great. Have fun and explore, but more importantly, don't let the numbers discourage you. Sometimes your content will blow up and a lot of times it can just flop (2:48). Give yourself the freedom to try out new things and improve in the parts that you want. Enjoying the process is more important than the short term results. It's something I learned a few days ago so it's kinda funny how this was the video topic for the week.

"The end goal, at least for me, is to be proud of myself." Yes. I'm 33 and been through so much learning about myself, and this is exactly where I'm at. What is worth my time? Which habits do I work on? The answer is what helps me feel proud of myself.

The style you developed is perfect for these kind of storytime videos. It's very cute, bouncy and super expressive. I bet your channel is going to blow up. (Even more than it already has.) What kind of game are you two planning on making? It might be fun to see snippets of what you're working on.

I'm with you all the way with rendering!!! TT I always felt like i was the only one who hated rendering, so i stay doodling to this day. this felt strangely validating. I love your work!!

I've tried to learn drawing a fair few times, but could just never get into it. Last time I even bought myself a somewhat expensive art tablet, hoping I could stay motivated with the sunk cost fallacy, but that only taught me I just really don't like drawing. I still wish I was good at it, would be cool to make my own profile pictures and sprites/textures for the small games I make, but it's just really not for me. Big respect to anyone who's managed to stay patient and built some skill, your stuff's great.

nightcore goes hard tbh. i had a nightcore phase years ago but have been coming back to it a lot lately as well i've been trying to get into art lately, but i've found it really hard to gain motivation when my main focus is whether the end result is good. i'm still trying to figure out how to care more about just enjoying the process for what it is. its nice to hear someone else's experience going through something similar :D

I went through more or less the same with music. Let aside the fact that I played music since quite young, I only got into composing around 2020. Was fun at first, so much to experiment and try, but as I was improving, there was less to uncover, throwing me into the "that's too mainstream, archive, next" loop. I did set myself expectations, and that ended up into burn out. I was like, forcing myself to do stuff because that "should" be what I "would" have wanted, yet that's not the case anymore. A kind of pocket nostalgia. On top of that, music is quite less "cool" than drawing. This shouldn't matter, but it actually does quite much. Anyone can realize more or less the beauty, detail and coherence of a non-abstract drawing, while in music, everything is abstract, and the average criteria for a good tune would be "it goes pm-ts-pm-ts and doesn't sound like crap, bonus points if it's sung by someone I know". Chances are, you'd have way more fun hopping on a drawing stream than a music-composing stream. For any musician with a bit of experience, it's quite common to have people not understanding the depth of your work because they simply didn't study music. Long story short, I had no one but myself to judge of what I was doing (I was into deeper music theory), so it came up with the anger of never being understood, and the hatred about so many popular "artists" capitalizing on musical ignorance by doing the bare minimum, adding pretty lyrics and mixing and getting away with it. At the end, it made me grow a lot, just accepting I'm not one to decide how others behave, and to not get discouraged in the things I'm doing even if I don't meet anyone who understands me. I simply took a break from music since almost 2 years ago. Turned heavily into gaming. I'm still into music, but not just writing random pieces to experiment with stuff. I'd want to make my own game and put actually meaningful music on it with all the theories I gathered. In any case, best pleasure in your future projects!

There are many roads, but if you ask your heart you'll know. I found myself always coming back to art too, mainly drawing, so i decided to focus on that. Its funny how long it takes for us to notice what our true passions are, but parents and teachers want us to decide on a career when we're only 15/18 yo, and barely understand ourselves, filling us with even more doubt, telling us that if we become artists we'll make no money. Im happy to see you found your passion and i wish the best for the projects you've planned, take small steps and have fun, i think those are the two most important things to avoid burning out.

rn I'm in that stage of "you suck give up" and it's really hard to break free from that but this gave me hope that's it's gonna happen so thank you :D

Aw man, I'm sorry you had to go through the feeling of not being good enough, because even the early art you showed us was extremely cute :3 I think the only "problem" (which wasn't really your fault!) with your old art had was standing-out in a very overcrowded market designed to get eyeballs on cute stuff. I think you've more than surpassed that hurdle with the more distinctive style present in your videos. The loveably goofably cartoony quality of your chibi-as-heck selfsona with the one spot of subtle colour on the cheeks gives your work it's own identity.

Your voice with your art is so cute it's painful omg I love how expressive all your characters are, and your choice of soft pastel colours is so sweet! It's lovely to see such positive content on RU-vid, your videos have a really chill pace, everything comes together so well!

I really love people's sketches. Rendering is cool and all, and it makes some great art, but I always like seeing the hand just make cool stuff. Agonizing over details just sucks all the fun out! Also I love your art style. It's cute and gets the message across but it also looks unfinished and full of life. ^.^

Oh god, unlocking decades old memories. I used to do the same, drawing on the window! I came to the same conclusion, art is just not for me. Forced myself to do it more despite feeling that way, but eventually that feeling won. Thank you for helping me remember those drawings.

Another great video. It was very interesting to hear to your art journey and what challenges you faced. It sure can feel overwhelming when you make something unique and it doesn't get as much attention as something you usually do. While I am not an artist, I think many could relate to feeling like the thing they made must suck if it didn't get much traction as the other thing. I remember one artist that focused on cosy drawings but decide to change the vibe to something more adult oriented for a little while also experimenting with a new artstyle and when it didn't get as much traction, they came to the conclusion that it must be artstyle issue and therefore they won't post drawings using that specific artstyle. It's pretty easy to catch yourself into a mindset that if something underperforms, therefore it must be bad, so glad you tackled on that issue and how it affected your journey. I also send my thanks for continuing the journal! It's great to continue to see your process. You also made some great points in terms of your thoughts that were aftermath of the first video. In the end, even if we might not always succeed or be heard, we should try to seek comfort and happiness as much as it is possible for us to do. Don't worry also about your journal pages being too long for anyone to read - 5 pages of some good and well put thoughts are always something wonderful to read. Take care and come back to good health quick!
