Thanks for the videos! You inspired me to go out and buy a 2008 base Cayman at a similar age and I'm assuming financial position as you. I love the car so far and your videos calm some of my nerves about buying a luxury car.
Have not had to do it on my Cayman yet, but I do have a battery maintainer so I can save the codes. Glad it all worked out for you. Surprised you used an O-Reilly Super Start battery. I'll probably go AGM. Thanks for posting.
I replaced mine with a Braille B3121 AGM battery. It has a higher cranking amp. And more importantly it shaves almost 30lbs off the car. Sure, it costs $90 more than a conventional battery but that is a lot cheaper than replacing stuff on my Cayman S with lightweight material (like carbon) to cut 30lbs. BTW, it is well known that Porsches will draw on the battery when parked. You need to put the battery on a trickle charger when park for an extended period of time. Either that or disconnect the battery .. which I do when I store my CS over the winter.
@@scienceprojecthelper your right, been touring around Wales with my wife and had enough storage room for our luggage.which for a small sports car is amazing. My Cayman is quality built, fast, exciting and handles like a dream, good looking and holds its value fantastically. Once you have bought one, apart from maintaining it, it is like driving a free Porsche because you can sell it for what you paid for it in years to come. Nothing for the money touches a 987 Cayman or boxster. My advice would be get the S version as the extra power makes it a fast Porsche and you will appreciate the extra power once you feel it 👍
So did you find out how the TP button works yet? ;-) Here we have a signal on all stations to switch to a certain station when traffic information is available on that station. It switches back automatically too. Was pretty cool before the era of smartphones.
Congrats, you never know with Porsche. BTW I wore my Flatagonia shirt today and 2 people asked about it. It's always funny when I explain it and then they realize the Porsche silhouette is the "mountain".
great video. im a subscriber as well. btw, do you know the width of the caymans battery? i have a new AGM battery from my 2008 e550 and was curious if it will fit the cayman 2008 that i will be picking up today.
