I’m in Rematch right now, I have 3 more days left to match and I talked to some good families but I just can’t decide for one. I really would love to finish my year but on the other side I just wanna be home right now.

Hey Destiny! My name is Valentine and I am currently in the US as an Au pair with Cultural Care. It’s been two weeks now and I still don’t feel good and comfortable in the role I am supposed to fulfill. I was so excited to realize my dream of being in the US but I wasn’t expecting it to be like this. My host family is absolutely amazing, I love them. But taking care of the kids is so overwhelming and stressful for me. They are young and need someone confident and comfortable to take care of them. That is not how I feel. My homesickness is worse every day and I feel extremely lonely. The process of just thinking of going back home is not an easy one after what we went through to arrive in the US. So when I saw your video I couldn’t identify more. You said exactly what I feel at this very moment. It’s the hardest decision I have ever taken. I don’t want to quit but I cannot live like this for a year, that’s impossible. So I was maybe thinking of rematching with a host family with older kids. I am still processing this idea but your video really helped me. I don’t feel so alone. Thank you!
I really enjoyed watching this video and I felt touched by it. I'm an au pair in rematch and I'm very frustrated and uncomfortable because of the situation.

Hi, thank you :) hope your experience wasn't too bad though!? I was my first host family's first au pair, yes. My second host family already had 2 au pairs before me but the second one also left after a couple of months!
Hey destiny :) my name is lia, im from mexico and next month Ill go to germany to work as an aupair. Ive been in the netherlands and several times to the usa and I have a question. Why did you choose the US? For me Netherlands was waayyy cooler. I always wonder why europeans cross the sea to go to the US instead of england or australia, or a latin country 😊
Hi Lia! That is so exciting, I hope you have a wonderful time in Germany as an au pair! To be honest, I have always gravitated towards the US ever since I was a little girl. So for me to be able to move there for +- a year, was never a hesitation. Also, they were promoting becoming an au pair in America more than any other country :)
@@desdedigitals Hi, thank you for your awnser! maybe you see Germany the same way I see the US being Mexican haha because you are super close from Netherlands to Germany. If you are still eager to travel I would recommend you try a cultural exchange with the university to a latin country :) in Mexico we have many international students at Unis and they always have a nice time, also latin ppl are super friendly and welcoming.
@@desdedigitals you could also try to go to the US on a different kind of visa like student or voluntary work :) au pair program can be wonderful but definitely has its risks; if the USA is still your goal maybe try a different kind of visa.
