Helicoil for the win Ed! Or drill a through bolt maybe as a last ditch option. As for the brake cable, I’d bet there is a part cross reference you could, use to source one from another model Audi etc. Enjoying this build man, keep up the good humor and fun.
@@EdgasketGarage that is true, and that happened most likely because you were unable to see it. A proper insert would have been visible and you wouldn't have made that mistake. This proves again helicoils are vomit. 🤣🤣
I know you know this ED but for the rest of us look to Helicoil for your thread inserts. Should have a kit just for this size of thread. Looking forward to the first drive.
Thank you brother! Interesting the factory frame rails are all helicoiled. It was an unusual length so I had to order it. Should be all set for next video! Cheers.
It's common for aluminum threads to be helicoiled or have some sort of threaded insert in the machined parts world. Much stronger thread that can take the abuse of repeated uses. @@EdgasketGarage
Kurt, I uploaded a video and it was not showing in HD quality so I had to take it down. New video is done just working on some high definition issues. Coming soon!
Copy. I can't wait to see if you take the r8 out for the 1st drive on your Midnight Run Asanti wheels. I can't believe that those wheels, Asanti AF138, are still around $1400/each. 🤯
@@EdgasketGarage I wrote that right at the beginning of the video because of the title but I was excited to see that it was "just" needing threads replaced
