I walked into my screening appointment and told the physhiatric nurse straight away that a lot of my family have been diagnosed. She asked who and i said son, nrother, cousins, uncle, nephews and she ok thats enough for a referral and that was before we even started the screening of which i scored 40. Awaiting an appointment. She said 18 months
I weighed 10 1/2 pounds at birth, and was 22 inches long. I was freakishly large, and it was a long, difficult birth. I'd never heard this thing about autism and birth-difficulties before.
Unfortunately in German speaking countries Asperger is still a thing. I, consume information in regards to ASD in English, find it very disturbing to see that. But I think young autistic people in my country have recognize that Asperger is not a thing anymore, it's part of your history, and try to educate the older autistc generations. I belong to this older generation, but I'm female and was never officially diagnosed, so I don't feel the need to be categorized as/with Asperger. We all have similar struggles and just because they can handle them better or can comunicate better does not make them better. It's just a little easier for them to be accepted and understood and have their needs met. But they still have needs. Nobody wants to be an outsider, to be different. But I think in the long run not accepting yourself and others will not help humanity. I thought of the German sentence "Leben und leben lassen" ... googled it and now I don't know if I should use it anymore 😅The German wikipedia entry gave me conflicting feelings. Sometimes knowing more about something is too much knowledge, being oblivious can be nice.
I did the same thing at birth. I was born purple and my lungs collapsed cause I ate the chit in the womb during birth. 😮 That was in 1979 and just learned I’m Autistic this month 😮. Every autistic test as INTP on the MBTI tests?

Whatever Hans Asperger was, I still prefer the term Aspergers. It's certainly better than "high-functioning autistic." I like the term Aspie, but calling myself autistic feels like mislabeling.
Yes the hard part starts after the diagnoses spacialy with cluster b. When I started to get an idea what that realy means for me and my life it’s all very depressing. In a way I think sometimes that those who don’t know are the lucky ones. 🤷♀️🫶
