Sitting here in my AirBNB in Itabashi, tired from walking around in Sangenjaya and Shibuja - watching Your Video walking around in Shibuja. Always fun to watch Your Videos, I quite prefer Your "average day" ones - and today its of cause very special to watch it. Thank You for sharing it, cant wait to see more when Im back home 🌸
Just love the amazing life you’ve carved out, in Japan. Not only are your Japanese language skills MORE than adequate (more like, WAY past what is expected), but your love/appreciation of Japanese culture must be highly endearing to the locals. In regard to hey fever/allergies, how is the selection/effectiveness of Japanese-approved antihistamines? I felt the wrath of the sugi the last time I was there, and my most-likely contraband U.S. antihistamine worked pretty well.
Oh man I miss Tokyo when I see this! I used to live there for 2 years as a student, but now, 10 years later, I'm back to Shizuoka, but as a married woman 😆 Enjoy Tokyo!!
I love it when you say a particular food you’re eating is vegan .with me being vegan. I’ll be there in just four more weeks, hoping to find things that I can eat. Thank you.
4:10 i just moved to japan and i hope i dont develop that 😷 never had any allergies. also you mentioned that there arent many healthy places to eat out and i couldnt agree more! i've been going to nakau like 3-4x a week because they have an oyakodon + miso soup + salad combination (and lots of other combos) for only around 700yen. it's one of the few times i can eat vegetables 😭 teishoku restaurants are also pretty good
3:51 "'Rice is okay; soy beans, peanut, _wheat._ I was worried I was gluten-free cuz I had some digestion problems..." For years and years I thought that I might have a gluten intolerance, but it turned out that I am allergic to _baker's yeast,_ which of course is used in most things that have gluten in them! "Correlation is not causation," as they say.
I had also very strong allergies against weed and pollens, nearly 20 years ago I made a so called slit sub lingual immune therapy ; basically every day for over 2 years a small drop of allergens poured in water under the tongue in the morning since then I have never gotten allergy again I can run now out to the nature Greetings from Austria 🇦🇹 hope I hear you speak more German in that one video with your German friend you sounded very nice 👍
Really love Falafel Brothers ❤❤❤ Always worth a visit! Even had a "Fischers Fritz fischt frische Fische" tounge twister battle with one of the german employees there. 🤣
Is there a source for local honey in Tokyo? Honey that’s local to the area can help with allergies and get the immune system slowly acclimated to pollen sources. Worth a try 💗 hope you feel better! 🫶
That’s something I need to start! Thanks for the advice 😊 I’ve only been taking Australian honey (which you can buy in Japan). All the local honey is pretty pricey (they’re not big honey producers here - most of the supermarkets only sell Argentinian & Chinese honey) so might just need to invest in a Japanese one for my health!
I loved falafel brothers when I was in Japan. Because I'm a vegan and who doesn't like falafel and hummus even if they aren't vegan. I also tried their pizza it was a little too soggy for me because of all the tomato and mushrooms that were on it but I hope they have different ones like focaccia for the next time I'm there! (Plus the pizza was very expensive 😅). The falafel was amazing though! I took a takeaway salad bowl type thing once and it was very fresh (also had falafel). And for the pita ones I think you can choose like 3 toppings? They also had 3 bottles of different sauces (some were based on level of spiciness). I also liked their lotus root chips! The branch where I ate the pizza was the one with the big fake tree in the middle of the restaurant (don't know if they still have that) but they also had wine at that one. And at both the branches I went to the staff was really great! I completely recommend falafel brothers! P.S. if you ever come to South Africa you should try Falafel King! (some supermarkets here sell their frozen falafel and it tastes really fresh and yummy! I especially like the original one which isn't spicy but there is also a roasted red pepper flavored one and another really spicy one).
I find fluticasone propionate nasal inhalers are a lifesaver for me during hay fever season. The American brand name is Flonase and possibly Flunase in Japan. It’s a corticosteroid so I probably wouldn’t use it year round but during springtime it pretty much stops all of my allergy symptoms. Check it out.
the Season of Cherry Blossom is the Time of Dreams , the fall of the Cherry Blossom Petals , is as the fall of the tears of the Dreamcatcher " , catch the petal , catch the tear , catch the Dream and make a wish
Shopping with Seerasan in a nutshell, drink a ton of Tea and sit on Furniture for a long time an order it from home :-D Im waiting for the big Tokyo Breadtest^^
Oh to be young again. Sydney lady here that loved Japan. In the early 90’s I spent 2 years living just outside of Tokyo and you reminded me of those days wearing your bucket style hat. I had 3 very similar ones to yours in different colours and I wore one when days were cool. Most women wore one when they went out. Anyway, I always enjoy watching you showing everyone around, including this one. xx
Hey Sara, big fan I was wondering have you ever been to Nagasaki or Hiroshima? thanks for the great content I hope to visit Japan in the near future cheers!
As someone who has had lifelong severe allergies...I'm so sorry and welcome to the sad, snotty club. Interestingly, climate change models predict that we will increasingly have more pollen in the air for longer periods, so medical professionals anticipate an increase in allergies. 😢 So our snot club will grow. Some tips from a seasoned professional in Having Allergies: - saline spray your nose when you come inside from outside, and whenever you're stuffy (but beware of the nasal rinse/netty pot - if you have weird shaped nose canals, the water can get trapped and cause infection, and you are actually supposed to use sterile water which is a pain and no one does) - no outdoor clothes/shoes inside, just have an indoor set of cloths you change into right away so pollen doesn't transfer to your indoor stuff - run a hepa air filter indoors at least a couple hours a day. Avoid opening the windows with high pollen but if you do, run the filter. And beware that companies will say "allergy" filter but not be hepa. If it's not hepa, it won't filter allergens!! Pollen is tiny! - rinse your hair before bed and change sheets/vacuum upholstery/clean floors frequently - wear a mask that will block pollen I hope your meds work well and the pollen decreases soon for you!
Wow, lots of great suggestions which could make quite a difference when dealing with pollen allergies. I am surprised about your warning regarding nasal rinses, though. In Germany, "Nasenduschen" are rather popular, I believe. I use one myself whenever I have a cold. But I was not aware that some people might be at risk of infection because of 'weirdly shaped nose canals'. Luckily, I don't think I am one of those.
Did you say the supermatket is called Picard??? Don't know if you are a fan of, or ever watched the 1990s series of Star Trek called The Next Generation, but Picard is the captain, played by Patrick Stewart, and is one of the greatest shows of all time 😂❤
Ahh I haven’t seen it before but yup it’s the same name, same spelling as the French supermarket 😂 (I know a bit about it cause I’ve seen Big Bang Theory though hahah)
Hey Sera, just out of curiosity, since you really like drinking hot water why don’t you get an insulated bottle so you could bring it alone and have hot water for hours? I like hot drinks from combini but they get lukewarm to cold so fast so I end up getting an insulated bottle and I have never been happier (:
I would actually be open to bringing bottles with me, but sadly Japan barely has anywhere to fill up.. so I end up carrying around the empty bottle all day although I’ve finished my drink within 30 min of leaving 🥲 (even the same case with chilled water )
@@seerasan yeah that’s pretty true I don’t think I ever see any water cooler outside of parks, let alone somewhere with hot water, I guess the only way is you fill out at home or in office
In addition to a really good blender they probably pass the soup through a fine sieve to sift out the "larger" particles. That's one technique restaurants use to get that velvety smooth soup.
Isn´t there something about Japan actually doing a lot to try and shift the pollen-issues? Like, that some percentage of trees that are planted now have to be something other than the Sugi-trees?
I feel like I may of heard something about this! To be honest… I wasn’t paying too much attention to allergy related info/news until it started affecting me 😅 I’ll be more informed moving forward haha
We have just started our second vegetation change plan, which will replace cedar and cypress as raw materials for housing and return them to natural forests. In addition, there are plans to regenerate seaweed, which is decreasing due to global warming. It is believed that there is a close relationship between the decline in fishery resources and the decline in seaweed. Fishermen dive into the sea by scuba diving.
