Same experience for me. Injuries persist because I’m too inpatient and I jump right back into heavy lifts. Don’t be discouraged from these chronic back injuries. Put in the boring work and take it slow.

Brother, please take care and take it slowly. How are you doing btw? I have injured my lower back by dead lift too. I knew that my technique is probably wrong, because I never learned it well with a coach. Just took it up from internet without much focusing on developing the techniques and the gradually increasing the weights. I was hard on myself, thinking that at my weight and strength I should be able to do more...

I suffered a prolapsed disc L5/S1 & subsequently underwent surgery for a discectomy 16 years ago, I now have degenerative disc disease & arthritis, fusing the disc is a last resort but am looking into RFN as a long term option as I’m very active in the construction field & relatively fit & healthy but continue to pinch the nerve which causes me to have time off from work. Thoughts?

Thank you for creating this video. It’s very encouraging to hear your story and what steps you took different than before. I have 3 herniated discs all in my lower back (confirmed on MRI when I was 29) and the issues all started when I was 15, playing volleyball and doing weight lifting class. Really didn’t have the right support to know technique and form. You’re spot on with the typical people who have these issues. I’m very inpatient and don’t do stretching. Fast forward and I just had acute episode and is the worst ever and am scouring RU-vid on what I need to do to get myself better and keep my back in the healthy place. I was doing planks and going up and down the stairs to keep any pain at bay, but stopped when I was working at home from Covid last year (not a good excuse). I’m a mom of a 3 year old and I can’t have excuses anymore. Thank you for all of your stretching videos and strength training for lower back. Very grateful.

Greetings from California, USA, Ashley. I watched your roller video, and now this one. Great content; I’ve subscribed!😊 Keep the videos coming. Much appreciated. I had lower back surgery about five years ago, which removed almost all pain. But every now and again I will get spasms due to sitting too much. I need to do more stretching, hips to ankles. My therapist also has me focused on front core muscle strength, and rear flexibility. Kudos on your progress.

I am a dancer and the back of my right leg and knee bothered me really bad when I would try to stretch it, it almost didn't let me stretch it. But I continued to stretch it everyday, and do kicks and leaps that would hurt really bad. And then my inner hips and hip flexors began to really bother me, hurting when I would walk. And starting in like july, my lower back really started bothering me, and now in janurary it is still bothering me. When I bend down to pick up something it hurts and if I pick up something heavy I feel it pinching my lower back. My lower back bothers me in almost everything I do now.

I really Like and appreciate your videos - they are straight to the point and easy to follow - I’m in my mid fifties and I have a physical job but also have maintained a fitness regimen since I was 20 yrs old Back in those days there was not a lot of literature on properly performing many exercises ( like bench presses ) So through the years I have injured my self either at wor k or exercising - Nowadays I can tell if an exercise if my technique is bad because i will hurt in that area almost immediately or by the next day - I have found your videos to be very helpful 👍

Hi @Gus, Thank you so much! I really glad you find the videos helpful. I absolutely agree with you; in a number of cases, sportsmen/athletes do end up injuring themselves due to poor form and technique which are very crucial in preventing long-term injury. Some don't realize it until they have completely destroyed their bodies so I'm glad you are now able to distinguish between what is building your body strength and what is threatening it. I hope you are now taking it easier on yourself. Let me know how its going. Best wishes, Ashley.

Thank you very much and now my ongoing back problems are starting to make sense. I realise that my problem is trying to do too much too soon and that for better results it requires a slow slow and very slow build up more along the lines of quality i.e. technique has to be right before getting into to doing more reps. I backed off quite a lot and am now noticing better ongoing results. You hit my problem right on the head and I know lots of others out there need to come to terms with the same reality.

Your content is absolutely amazing! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and clearing our perception of what's actually happening in our body! Personally, I started having lower back pain about seven months ago and as you said it started with the blocking of my spine and not being able to move. It actually was caused, I think, when I sat for too long, and then jumped into hard core workout with not much warming up. Now, I still have terrible pain focused in my left hip whenever I sit for more than an hour or do intense core workout without much preparation.

Yo, dude. I'm realizing that, even if Ive done exercises for several years, i wasn't working on my flexibility and I'd say may hamstrings. Maybe its bcs I'm getting old (I'm 29) or bcs home office, idk the reason but since december (and that links with the fact that I bought and started to do some weights) I've been suffering low back pains. Your video gives me hope bcs from now on, I'll be more focused on flexibility and strengthening my core areas... God bless you. I think all those guys who are actively sportsmen, I'd say, deserve a video linked to: when it comes to low back pain on sports men, what's to be done?

Thank you for sharing your story. Do you think you could do a mid-back pain video please? I've seen three physiotherapists (Canada) in the last year and nothing is helping. It's strange, my right mid-back acute pain is only present when I stand or walk. Which of your videos would you recommend - "10 min follow along routine for inflexible people" or "prevent injuries, aches and pains with these simple mobility stretches" Thank you so much.
@PrecisionWellbeing
@PrecisionWellbeing 3 года назад
Hi Cathie, yes of course I will do a mid back pain video. It may not be any time in the next couple of months, but I'll definitely do one. I suspect your back muscles are quite weak and so when you're walking or standing you are doing these for longer than those muscles can tolerate and therefore they get inflamed. I'd suggest following along to the 10 minute routine anyway as I'm sure that will do you good. But long term you must get stronger. I hope that helps. Best wishes, Ashley.
