A different style of video to help bridge the gap between videos. This one I enjoyed a lot because of the reflection and memories, and it reminds me how blessed I am to be where I am. Everyone has a story and that story is rarely simple. There are always ups and downs and twists and turns. I'm happy to be able to tell mine.

When i get old, i will make sure i get a nice plot of lands as a backyard so my kids can have their sport in the backyard, whether it be a backstop and one of those travel mounds, or a goal or post. When i was younger thats what i wished for. Thanks for listening to my TED talk.

even if you don't have a big backyard you can do stuff. we play baseball in our driveway which is long. and he can also practice pitching (45 ft for little league) in the driveway. our backyard is tiny though... maybe 16 ft long and awkwardly shaped. he hits inside too (in the living room). using foam balls that won't damage anything.

Me and my son played backyard ball a lot. I was a catcher in school, not very good but I liked baseball. Now as a high school senior he has become the #1 ranked catcher in the state. It was an amazing journey that brings a tear to my eye thinking back all those years of playing catch in the backyard.

I'm 10 years older than you, played PONY baseball and travelled around my state playing summer ball my whole childhood. I come from a pretty wealthy area (SE Michigan) with a lot of great ball players, a few even went on to play AAA and one in the MLB. Because of that politics in high school sports really turned me off of baseball. The coach would take bribes from the rich parents, while the poor kids like myself would be put on JV 2 years in a row as a junior, like yourself. On my 2nd year JV, I had the highest OBP of .525, the most hits, the most walks, the most doubles, and was 3rd for the most steals (I was usually lead-off); never did I once get offered to move up to varsity that season... I tried out my senior year, and the coach had the audacity to take me on the condition i ride the bench so donor's kid could play, so I told my coach to 'eat a d*ck' and never really looked. Good on you for sticking it

Right now I’m a freshmen in high school and let’s just say I’m not to hot. I would like to blame my hitting on the pitching speed of 45 mph on a good day but in the end it’s on me. You and your video have changed the way I think about this slump I’m in. Hopefully in the next couple month with hard work I’ll get that single up the middle. Thanks

I don't know how this video ended up on my front page. I don't mean any disrespect by that. It's just that I can't remember the last time I watched anything about baseball. I'm here for it though, I loved your video and how honest you were about everything. You have a very natural and calming storytelling voice. I like that you were able to speak on your weaknesses, not give up, and get better making it on a college team. I played softball for 13 years and loved every minute of it. Now I'm a mom of 2 kids and try to instill the importance of sports and the many lessons and obediance you're able to gain. I hope you make more videos with tips on how you were able to improve in different areas or how to prepare for certain events like tryouts or tournaments. Wishing you the best of luck in all your baseball endeavors and most of all, have fun!!

Usually it’s a product of being overly anxious and wanting to elevate the ball. Just sit back, and slow yourself down and focus on hitting liners. It’s something you have to consciously think about during BP and eventually reps will translate to in game.

Appreciate it. My parents got some videos here and there growing up. I feel blessed to have so many photos and videos from playing to be able to relive memories. My dad was always taking pictures and would beat himself up for not taking enough videos. But clearly I still ended up with quite a bit.

@@rickygoupille8050 That's awesome of your parents. I'm a dad to a 9 yr old. I feel sometimes like I'm the only parent out there getting video. It seems the times when I don't record is when something exciting happens lol. So it's like you gotta just try to record everything to get a few gems. Respect to your dad. It's not easy storing all this footage. It takes time. He captured many good memories

@@nofurtherwest3474 I can’t thank him enough for all he did to document the early years up until now. He beats himself up for the same things: missing the big moments. I know for pictures he uses a Nikon d300 I believe, and for videos we’ve used different things, mostly an older Cannon UHD camcorder but now smart phones are just as good for quality.

hey another question - did you every try to gain weight? like by just eating a lot and / or hitting the weight room? or did your coaches suggest it? i saw a video that analyzed weight in baseball players and it said it does help for the most part but it also depends on your position.
@rickygoupille8050
@rickygoupille8050 24 дня назад
I've been trying for a few years by eating all the calories I can and hitting the weight room. It has made a difference. I've mentioned in other videos that in D3 you can't devote 100% of your time to your sport, you do the best you can with the time you have and that's what I try to do.
@nofurtherwest3474
@nofurtherwest3474 24 дня назад
@@rickygoupille8050 in essence, the video seemed to say that extra weight can help in pitching and hitting but can slow you down in base running and fielding.
