For REALLY thick patches, a lot of sewing kits come with what's called a glover's needle. It's got a triangular tip that's made for punching through leather. As far as thread goes, they sell black artificial sinew, which you cannot break with your hands. It'll make your fingers bleed before it breaks. And for a really sturdy stitch, try a backstitch. It doubles back on itself for added strength.
I'm a huge Cradle of Filth fan. Lovely vest by the way. I have yet to get my own started, but my first patch I have had for several years is a Cradle of Filth Elizabeth Bathory one.
Holy Shit! I was at that Iron Maiden (+Alice Cooper) concert back in 2010 too when I was probably just 9 or 10 (best first concert ever), I swear I can remember the majestic metal man that inspired you to start yours because I was considerably far back as well. I'm 18 now and have been a metalhead for years but am just getting around to starting my first vest now and didn't realize we were at the same concert. \m/
I'm thinking about making a metal hoodie instead, instead of putting it on a vest, put it on the front and back of a hoodie. Since I tend to wear hoodies all the time, even in hot weather. Gonna put my favourite bands on it, definitely Burzum, Marilyn Manson and Xasthur since they're some of my favourites.
@@cookiesontoast9981 nice idea 😊 I wear a lot my hoodie just undear my battle jacket when it's too cold. It look quite nice. But a straight on battle hoodie is going to look cool 😊
I love how excited you are about showing off your vest man it's so cool!!! I don't have any money to buy this stuff cause I'm 14 but man did this inspire me!
Dude, fucking love your videos man! You're such a genuine guy, which is damn awesome. You've inspired and widened my metal horizon by recommending all these amazing bands and talking about the different subjects in the metal community, which I find really fascinating. Fucking love your battle vest, it looks freaking epic! Your video has inspired me into making my own battle vest! My favorite band is Children of Bodom, so that's gonna be the first patch! Anyway, keep up the great work man. Good day to ya'll!
That Battle Vest was badass mate! I remember starting my own, had a Drowning The Light patch, was the biggest bitch! Hope you manege to get the patches you want for the horror themed on. Hail from Norway.
Your battle jacket is rad man!! My friends and i are starting our own jackets right now and I've been marathoning your videos while i sew on my patches. I'm the same way where i can just sit and sew but i needed something to play in the background and decided to put on my favorite metal head.👌👌
I won't even lie. a lot of this made me happy, but it's so rare for me to find so when I saw your Lordi patch I made an inhuman sound hahaha. I want to actually start making my own vest and this is great inspiration :)
i want to get 2 more vests one for classic 80's rock and the other for all my genres of metal and my grandmother told me about dental floss she was so cool she did not understand my music but she loved how happy it made me and went with me to the music store to get my first guitar
I have had motorcycles for my only transport for ten years now. I am glad I found this video . I see you put video games and cartoon on yours. I now will add my motorcycle patches on my vest. Thanks
I have started my vest for about a few months now and I am so happy with how it's coming along. About almost all of the patches I paint by hand and I hand sewn all of them onto the vest. I have patches for the following bands; Cattle Decapitation, Abnormality, The Agonist, Aborted, Slice the Cake, Killitorous, Anaal Nathrakh, Ebony Sorrow (local black metal band to the city I live near), Disfiguring the Goddess, Nader Sadek, and Fallujah ( my fav band). And then along with the band patches I have a cthulhu patch, a pyramid head patch, a halo of the sun patch (silent hill symbol), silent hill logo patch, coffin patch, eye of ra patch, and a pyscho doctor patch. Also I have spikes and studs on the collar. But as to comment on the video, your vest is rad as fuck man! All those patches are badass. As for the monster vest you're thinking of doing, I would honestly keep an eye out on etsy for shops that make patches or try asking for any crafts people to do commissions for you.
Michael Flaherty Dude niceeeeee. Aborted are amazing, and so far Disfiguring the Goddess is one of my fav brutal death/slam influenced projects. I wonder if the guy behind the project is going to make more music? Cause not too long ago he was posting stuff on his facebook page. Also if you are interested in more brutal death single member projects, check out the project Methwitch. ;)
Just started on mine and it's nowhere near yours but I'm working on it, All I have is a Lamb of God patch and a bunch of buttons. So nothing crazy but whatever..
Euphoric Onion Yea, true I'm being pretty enthusiastic about it i just added Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath patches today so it's starting to look better.
I started on my back patch on day two. I didn't know shit about sewing, but It got easy once I learned and only took me a few minutes to get the gist. Now I've turned it into a hobby of mine.
I love your channel, there's not many metalhead youtubers, your opinions have opened my eyes a couple times in a positive way, keep on the brutality!! \m/
People who hate and talk crap about Cradle Of Filth don't understand the band. COF are not a Black Metal band, they don't even try to be, they've got much more in common with certain Gothic Metal bands like Theatres des Vampires.
Although their still really different,I think Theatres Des Vampires it's kinda of a middleground between Moonspell and Cradle of Filth, although they're more in a Moonspell direction, they're music is less extreme than CoF's
Anyone know good places to get patches? I already bought a Death Human patch, but I want some from bands like Atheist, Cynic, Timeghoul, Martyr, Nocturnus, Sadist, Wayd, (I realise that a Wayd patch is most likely impossible,) Suffocation, stuff like that.
is it wierd I have a behemoth and dark funereal patches but also linkin park and a day to remember? should I make my vest just one genre or any band I want?
Star buttefly Do whatever you want with your vest and fuck anyone who shits on you for it. I have some of the most extreme metal bands on my vest, but I also have 5 Pink Floyd album patches plus a few punk patches (Misfits, Negative Approach, etc.) and even a Muse patch. Never be afraid to show off what you like when it comes to your battle vest.
cradle is fucking wicked!! I dont know why so many have hate boners for cradle... anyway, i just ran across your vids on here, good vid personality...keep it metal🤘
im really sorry to keep bothering you, but i really wanted to ask, what exact jacket is that? what brand/model and all that (if you still have it) and if you do know, could you send me a link to buy it? it would be a HUGE help.
honestly I just went to ebay and looked up "black denim vest" and bought one for like $50. if you want a good patch store look up yourpatchstore on ebay
I'd recommend UKRPATCHER on facebook, they do the best custom patches, and also have fairly cheap shipping fees (only like 3 or 4 bucks no matter how much you order) gotten some pretty top notch shit from them
+Alice In Hell Maybe late but theres a Guy on eBay cald "thirapong" with realy cheap and good patches, it's free worldwide shipping from Thailand but its realy fast it took 6 days beetwen me placing the order and putting the patches on. Would recomend and buy from again.
Very nice vest, glad to listen a guy know how to saw. I like to saw the patch with making like chains saw around it. I want to do my vest when I get some time I will like a black vest for death, black metal bands and a blue vest for speed, thrash and heavy metal bands. Eheheheh a vest by style. Cool bottoms and patch from video games.
I actually sew by hand a lot for both my battle vest and making costumes, and I like hand sewing for the same reasons you mentioned. Though for anyone watching that doesn't like hand sewing or doesn't know how to use a machine, I discovered a thing at Wal Mart called liquid stitch, I think , in the craft aisle. I use it to put sturdier fabric together and all you do is just use it like glue over the shape and press it on your vest ; it dries within a half an hour, but it's really convenient
Hey man, I started watching your videos recently. Watched a few from things I was looking up before I realized they were all on the same channel! ha. Subscribed
ALSO! I have a video about making patches! Feel free to have a peek at my channel if you want, patches are reasonably easy to make yourself if you like the look of homemade ones. And I use embroidery thread for sewing on patches, it's nice and sturdy!
I have the wings I got for my first solo flight pinned on my battle jacket with pins for each kind of plane I've flown, and some roller derby patches mixed in with all the band patches. . It's weird but I love it!
I remember I started my vest back in November my best friend gave to me cause it was to big on him and I added spiked on the shoulders and from then on history was made! I have nearly covered the whole vest in patches, spikes, studs and pins
