The apiary looks good, nice view. I'm definitely going to have to find another apiary, I came out of winter with 2 colonies and now have 6 colonies from splits.
Laurence you're large Bee Farmer, with lots of experience. Have you any advice for someone looking to gain their first permission for an apiary, for a few hives? As I don't have a lot I can offer in return.
Offer honey, even if it's a future offer, or buy some local honey to gift them as a this is coming. And be picky!! Security, sunlight, out of the flood plain, bears, not super visible or accessible to the public, easily accessible to you, all extremely important and not worth compromising on.
I do not see much in the way of wildflowers. Will the hedgerows provide enough wild flowers? I was worried about my bees getting enough food when I recieved my nuc from you in May. Fate played a good hand for me. The farmer has allowed the fields to go to pasture, now they have acres of wild flowers to go at.
Looking good Lawrence, I'm envious! I'm rural but next to a main road so always concious when I'm suited up. Might need to get me a different colour suit!
Where I live a stream like that can overflow the banks during a flash flood. Hard to tell but if that happens your hives might flood so close to that stream?
