I feel stupid for asking on an earlier video if you were inspired by the fractal north case. Its obvious your skill in woodworking goes way back. It's really commendable that you're multi talented in things. This is art. You know what would be cool, is if you made a case that looks like an item thats usually made of wood in the first place. Like a piano, a boat, a building, something like that.

Don't feel stupid, it was a valid question :). Thanks for the suggestions :)

Quick tip to avoid router drift : route the other way, always with the guide on the left ! The cutting efforts on the bit will help pushing the router base against the fence, thus avoiding escapes if you loosen the lateral pression 😉 Wood, especially when thermalised, is pretty weak in cross grain direction (not to mention cracks) as you discovered 😱 Another nice PC in the end 👍
@mxcbuilds6633

Thanks for the tip! Yeah the thermo oak was very dry and probably not ideal for detailed work such as this. Such a shame as the colour is amazing.

Your cases are amazing functional art and have a beautiful precision and linier design that is awe provoking to say the least. BTW I don't know what you do for your workouts but your body shows the same amount of care and time as your cases. It would be nice to know, if it isn't too personal, how you train. I love your content, it is very satisfying to watch considering the level of OCD I also have and I hope you continue to make this soothing, inspirational and amazing content.

The 3D printed sanding stick at 10:33 made me smile. I love the use of it for custom tools/jigs. The possibilities seem endless. Beautiful build, the Lamborghini louvers inspiration stood out and is a great aesthetic yet functional touch for something that needs to breathe. Did you ever consider pushing the inspiration further and mounting the panels from underneath to hide the fasteners maybe? If feasibility was an issue highlighting them with the brass screws makes sense

Thanks for following along, and glad it was worth the wait. I actually switched printers half way through this project. Went from a Anet A8 to a prusa mk3. What a difference it makes! The prusa is great just hit print and the results are almost always great. No fine tuning needed. I got it second hand for a good price. But these days there are many great units from the likes of bambu labs that might be better/faster if your budget allows

It has been great to be following your journey all the way from the first builds and see how far you've come! Excellent work once again! There's always something new and different. This video was in my backlog for way too long, sorry for that. That should not happen because your builds tickle so many of my interests all at once. Again, you got me very intrigued to start building something similar, but the first step seems the hardest lol. One thing that came to my mind was that if you still have the CNC, you could try to make those sidepanels out of the same acrylic as the top slats. I think it could tie the build together even more.

camera quality definitely improved, really like how the acrylic panels go with those brass screws and the fans of the GPU, the dark wooden frame looks amazing. One thing I'd like to suggest, which of course is personal preference and definitely not required since the focus of the video lays on the process of building, is that maybe you could use some out of focus background decoration (e.g. Plants when building with wood) to accomplish the look of the PC. Please do not take this as an offence, this is only supposed to be a suggestion. :>

@mxcbuilds6633
@mxcbuilds6633 Месяц назад
Thanks for the support! Yeah not sure what's going on there is it normal for it to have 100C hot spot?
@AuDiGo6
@AuDiGo6 Месяц назад
@@mxcbuilds6633 not ideal, for Nvidia cards the ideal delta is max 20°C (the difference between the actual temp and the hotspot), even in an extreme stress test like FurMark. On the other hand, it won't harm the GPU. It looks horrible, but the GPU can run without any problems (and FurMark is far from a real world use). AMD cards, for example, have hotspot temperatures of 110°C as "within operating range". I assume it's not a case problem, but not an ideally designed GPU cooler. Udervolting GPU by a bit can help significantly in this instance.

Super cool, love the top. Feels like kind of a missed opportunity to not make the side panels out of brass though
@mxcbuilds6633
@mxcbuilds6633 Месяц назад
Thanks! Thats an interesting suggestion, do you think it would over power the build if the whole side panel is brass? I think it would make the other brass details less prominent
@victorfisk
@victorfisk Месяц назад
@@mxcbuilds6633 Don't think so, I mean, with all the oak I think it would strike a nice balance. Hell, with a cnc you could even try making a panel out of that same gray acrylic you used for the louvers. Might be cool to have the back panel be brass and the other side be acrylic. Still, want to emphasize, not critiquing, this is all up to taste and the case already looks incredible.

@@victorfisk yeah all good I wasn't opposed to the idea either way just thinking out loud on how that might look. Could possibly try that in a few months if I get bored with the existing look. Thanks!

you sir....create art. This is amazing. Quick question, have you ever thought about using stabilized wood?

@@mxcbuilds6633 they stabilize the wood with resin of multiple colors or no color making it waterproof, non porous and no more expansion and contraction. Its quite beautiful especially ANY burl wood

Start with a simple design and cheap wood, get the confidence and make mistakes. Then you'll be able to slowly build up to more complex designs. Have a look at my very first diy PC video and start there perhaps. Requires alot less tools
